Reviews: Ferrous Flower Sheath Dress & Daydream Dress

I love that tights have made a comeback the last few years. I can wear dresses year round without freezing my legs off! I have seen several dresses at Anthropologie that I want and am excited to be able to wear them even as the weather grows colder by the day.

The Ferrous Flower Sheath dress is a chic twist on a classic menswear-style fabric. The dress looks like someone took a men’s suit, cut it up, re-assembled it and added flower accents around the waist to make the perfect work dress. The dress’s a-line cut and scoop neckline are flattering to a wide variety of body shapes. A friend and I bought the dress at the same time and it flatters us both equally though we are built differently. For fall, I have been wearing the dress with J.Crew’s jewel-button cardigan, black tights and black high boots. It transitions well from day to night and I’ve gotten many compliments on the dress. A beautiful piece that is sure to be in-style for seasons to come.

Though it is not online, Anthro’s NYC stores have been carrying Nanette Lepore’s Daydream Dress. Lepore is known for making flirty, feminine shapes and she’s one of my favorite designers. The dress is a purple tweed with a ruched effect at the waist and a flared skirt. I would call the neckline sweetheart though I’m not sure if that’s 100% accurate. Like the Ferrous Flower Sheath I found this dress to be universally flattering. Since the Daydream Dress is fully lined it was not itchy at all. The purple color is slightly muted making it easier to pull off. I have put this dress on my holiday wish list.
