Checking in with LOFT’s cute Spring 2016 stuff

A cute scalloped-edge dress ready for work, date or nite.
LOFT’s Laser Cut Floral Flare Dress ($90 + $25 off) also comes in black.

I go back and forth with LOFT. Sometimes I love their cute designs and can’t get enough. Other times I stroll through the store and can’t find a single thing to try on. Right now I’ve swung back to love with them; I recently purchased a bunch of new stuff there for Spring! The Laser Cut Floral Flare Dress ($90 + $25 off) runs TTS and hits me just above the knee.

Inside, a look at a bunch of stuff I’ve tried and liked there recently.

A cute spring outfit idea! The Strappy Cami ($40) and Medallion Wrap Skirt (now $50 + 40% off).

Note: For sizing reference I am currently sitting at 34-29-39. At LOFT I typically wear a size 4/S in tops & sweaters, 4 in flare dresses and 6 in sheath dresses and 29/30 or 10 in pants and skirts, 32DD. I am 5’8″.

As far as materials go at LOFT, we are not usually talking about natural fibers. Cotton and silk are pretty rare. It’s mostly polyester or rayon with other synthetic fibers mixed in. What’s nice about this store is that I can come in and refresh a seasonal wardrobe for under $400. Right now for instance their regular-priced dresses, skirts and cardigans are $25 off  (no code required) and so is sale items are 40% off — hard to beat that deal when their stuff looks good.

I love the Medallion Wrap Skirt (now $50 + 40% off) shown above! It reminds me of a similar skirt I bought at J.Crew last year. The length is a little shorter than I’d prefer on my frame — I wish this style came in tall. But the pattern scale is lovely, the skirt tulips in front without revealing too much, and the magenta-turquoise-cream color palette is easy to pair with many other complementing colors. I found a 10 in this skirt worked best on me, and in an 8 in the cami shown. This skirt works great with the Pointelle Ribbed Sweater (now $30 + 40% off) in teal and mauve, not to mention that the high-low shape of the sweater is a great silhouette contrast. I took a small in the sweater.

Another cute cami! The Petaled Strappy Cami ($45).

Actually there are a bunch of camis and tanks I like at LOFT right now! In addition to the Petaled Strappy Cami ($45) in the photo above I also tried on the Lacy Mixed Media Shell ($45), which has two lace burnout columns down the front of the tank that make for a flattering, lean silhouette despite the shell’s billowy shape; the Double V Sweater Cami ($40) which hits low hip and has a lovely deep but not too deep v-neck; the Jacquard Lace Shell ($50) which yes is oversized but makes a nice pairing with denim shorts or under a nice denim jacket; and the silky-feeling Ladder Lace Henley Shell ($55). I took a small in all of these.

Love this combo of nautical themes. The Sailor Pencil Skirt (now $65 + 40% off) and
a top that is no longer online, but plentiful in stores.

I was surprised by how much I liked the Sailor Pencil Skirt (now $65 + 40% off). Although I was expecting a wool-feeling skirt it’s a more slippery polyester, but the fit is very good! I took an 8 instead of my usual 10 in LOFT skirts. I love the top paired with it here and it also looks great with the Diamond Tie-Neck Blouse (now $55 + 40% off).

A few other skirts I tried on include the Eyelet Scallop Skirt ($79 + $25 off) which is a very pretty pink and a little short on me — I’d do a 10 tall; the Illusion Shift Skirt (now $55 + 40% off) is a fun and playful eye-catching skirt that I wish came in tall; the Lace Hem Skirt ($70 + $25 off) has a pretty cream color and two lines of lace edging along the bottom hem that make it a great work or weekend option.

The Duet Dress ($80 + $25 off) is only available in this colorway online, but I saw two other options in-store.

This Duet Dress ($80 + $25 off) is ideal for short torsos like mine! I envision it as a lovely weekend dress to wear to the Farmer’s Market or around Brooklyn, where I’m spending most of my weekends these days. Throw on a denim jacket over it and it’s an instant look.

The Eyelet Flounce Dress ($80 + $25 off) is another cute frock, and I like the Petal Side-Shirred Dress ($70 + $25 off) too, especially for work. The latter runs small, I took it in a large. One dress I did not like was the Eyelet Day Dress ($80 + $25 off), which is a pretty if slightly washed out color in real life but a sad excuse for material…I would not expect it to survive a washing.

Here are a couple more looks that caught my eye:

The Utility Custom Stretch Pencil Skirt ($70 + $25 off) is well-named and looks great with a striped tee.
I took a 10.
This Striped Hi-Lo Sweater (now $45 + 40% off) also comes in pink! I took a small.
