It’s time to check in with Free People, where Spring 2016 and festival season appear to be in full swing. As is normal with Anthropologie’s sister brand my wishlist is practically overflowing with pretties, from the practical to the fantastical…
Free People’s catalogues tend to be pure imagination for me (the April lookbook is beautiful but more left coast than east). Occasionally there is an outfit I’d love to try like the look above! FP does a great job of bouncing back and forth between urban life and far-flung adventures. This month seems to be more dedicated to the latter and I’m happy to take the trip with them.
As usual Free People has a selection of absolutely stunning maxi dresses. Besides the dresses shown photoed in this post, I also love the Wrap Top Maxi Dress ($326) for its sheer geometric delight.
I had to highlight the White Heat Fringe Shift Dress ($400) purely for its photo porn qualities, rather than its wearability (my needs for a white fringe mini dress are few). Luckily, Free People has a bunch of other items with cutouts that are more my speed: the Heavenly Tunic ($128) features lace shoulders with a cute, low-cut button-down front; the Starry Eyelit Tunic ($88) reminds me of the tie-halter tops I used to wear as a little girl and would look very cute over a skirt or denim shorts; the Clearly A Dream Dress ($148) is probably just a dream for me to wear but I love the shape and carefully cutout back; the Hot Child Mini Dress ($168) seems made for summer nights out dancing.
Pretty embellishments make me smile, as do pretty adornments. I am a sucker for Free People’s accessories and items that I never thought I’d need like the Avoca Shell Anklet ($28), Pukka Crush Anklet Set ($34), Sandbar Beaded Anklet Set ($24), Libi Grand Choker ($158, I have the small version in two colors and adore them), Cascades Stretch Upper Armband ($28), Native Rain Chainmail Necklace ($288), Full Bloom Double Charm Choker ($88) and High Vibrations Statement Choker ($48) are suddenly desperately wanted by me!
So it goes. This is the magic of Free People. It makes my closet so much more fun!
My love of suede and ‘suede’ evolves from shoes over to skirts, where Free People has me more than covered. I’m loving many of their skirts right now actually — new to my wishlist are the impossibly short but certainly cute Vegan Fringe Mini Skirt ($168, that stone color — love!), the Vegan Suede Patchwork Mini ($108) in powder blue and the Hold My Hand Cord Skirt ($78), where both the raspberry and coffee colors look good to me. Any of these are easy to pull off now with tights…but these are too short for me to wear bare-legged.
Come summer when I want clothing to loosely hang off me, the FP One Lucina Dress ($128) is sure to delight. It’s one of several light-shoulder dresses I dig. Also making my wishlist are the Sylvia Mini Dress ($168), the gorgeous Alexandra Dress ($168),
A few other cuties I’d love to bring home are the Bella Donna Printed Dress ($168 — would look great with a denim jacket over it), the Pretty Pineapple Dress ($148, a likely coverup for me so I’ll wait for sale), the Ruffle Me Up Mini Dress ($128), and the Paint The Sun Slip ($98) which I would like in every color please.
In conclusion, my wishlist has just enough room left for some summery shoes! Joining the Marigold Block Heel ($128) in seafoam (previously mentioned in this post) are the cute and casual Dusk Meets Dawn Wedge ($158), the wrappable Harpoon Wrap Sandal ($58), the Dover Suede Clog ($128) — now with ankle ties(!!) and the Houston Strappy Block Heel ($158).
