If you’re the type to find an item you love and buy it in a few different colors then Anthropologie’s latest website update is for you. The colors aplenty page features several Anthro items that come in a wide range of colors.
You can count me in the group of peeps that buys staples in a couple of colors. But to be honest I don’t think of Anthro as that kind of store. It goes against the whole individualist spirit their brand identity includes. And while a bunch of the items on-page would be tempting in this color and that one (the Side-by-Side tunic ($88) and Necklace Tank ($68) come to mind) I’d probably end up picking one only. What about you?
Also note on this page that many items have purposely foundational names. Facile. Definition. Simplicity. Beginnings. It ties in very well to the idea of the page. Whether intentional or not well done Anthro! (I’m pretty sure it was by design.)
I bought the summerweight cardigan in beige, as a staple color…it's an amazing sweater, I wouldn't mind the yellow or the lilac as an extra…but I agree anthro shouldn't be one to have alot of color varieties in a choice piece…it's not the gap!
Maybe in a few things… I bought the ruffled Tier Tee in two just because they are a simple little tops. And their basic cami's, that's okay, but otherwise they are starting to losing their one-of-a-kind appeal. They are starting to look a bit mainstream. I'd have to agree with Rosefever on the Gap thing.
This is really interesting for me. I've started to buy items in multiple colors…I can't seem to resist it! However, I have to agree that it takes away how special that one item was supposed to be. I should now go through my closet and start returning some items!
I have definitely bought multiples from Anthro in different colors but usually there are only two choices and sometimes it isn't just color. I bought two Amalialad sweater jackets: they were different colors and different color trims. I have a couple other sweaters in two colors, an elevenses skirt (think it was called Railway skirt) in black and gray, etc. So, no they aren't the GAP and I think when the things are different colors, they seem very very different.
I just bought 2 tie-front cardigans, one in black and one in gray. I think it's so cute in both colors! I also bought the peony drawstring top in the gray motif and the blue motif, but the patterns are so different on them that I don't feel like I bought the same shirt twice.
