Reviews: Soft Drapes Blouse & Blackberry Infusion Blouse

I have been not so patiently waiting for Yoana Baraschi’s Soft Drapes Blouse ($88) to show up in stores. I love the folded pleats at the neckline; they’re a modern twist on the exhaustive ruffle trend. The shirt comes in navy and orange. I own about 1,000,000 blue shirts so I decided that orange was the way to go.

I like the way the orange is set off against my deep indigo jeans. In addition to the folded pleats the shirt has soft pinstripes for added depth. The sleeves are slightly flutter but do not cut off the shoulder at all. They’re structured enough to maintain a nice line. This blouse was cut pretty small in the bust. I tried on my true size 6 and it was fitted across the bust. Not so tight that the shirt looked pulled but I could feel the closeness of the fabric. For comparison I tried on the 8 but found it too big everywhere. So I stuck with the 6. As you saw this morning this top came home with me.

I also tried on the Blackberry Infusion Blouse ($128) by Floreat. The aubergine top has a gorgeous lace and bulb bib and ruffles that add completeness rather than distraction. I was really surprised that this shirt did not come with an underlayer tank. It’s completely sheer…does Floreat expect peeps not to wear only a bra under the top? I’m happy for the second layer of ruffles on the sleeve which keeps the shoulder from being too capped. I tried on my true size 6 and this is the size I would buy. I decided to hold off on buying this top but I do like it very much. I feel it’s a bit too fancy for jeans so I’m brainstorming ideas on pairing this with wide leg trousers.

I really like the orange top, very pretty and kind of different with the pleating in the neckline. A great item for the Fall my favorite season.
