Reviews: Deep Woods Toggle Coat, Harvest Sunset Dress, Autumn Sun Sweatercoat

I guess the image above must have stuck in my head more than I remember because I subconsciously chose to try on the Harvest Sunset Dress ($168) and Deep Woods Toggle Coat ($268) together. I had a little bit of fun along the way…

…maybe a bit too much.

Let’s start with the coat. This is a review by request for Yvonne, although now I want this coat too! It’s by Elevenses, who already has a spot in my heart this year for the Inverness Trench ($188, review here) and the Spartan Coat ($198, review here). I sized up to a 10 in the Deep Woods Toggle Coat knowing that I’d layer bulky sweaters underneath. I’m sure an 8 would be fine as well (an 8 would be one size up for me).

The fur cuffs are removable but the hood trim is not. There’s a zipper closure with three toggle closures on top and one final button closure at the collar. I’m ambivalent about toggles. These ones are very nice and sizable with a tiger’s eye pattern on them and a long tooth shape.

This coat is warm but not as warm as I’d expect a real winter coat to be. I’m surprised there’s no thinsulate option. I’m sure this coat will cut the wind just fine but you’ll need a warm sweater underneath to stay warm. Here in NYC this coat alone wouldn’t cut it on cold days. Still, I’d use it and love it. I would also use it during my Colorado and Vermont snowboarding trips. Especially for wandering around town.

A bit of face time! On the left we have the hood down. On the right, up. It’s a big hood as my outtake shot above shows. You could easily slip a skullcap or other winter hat under the hood for double head warmth. This coat is pretty awesome to be sure. I want it! I just have to keep telling myself I don’t need another winter coat…

The Harvest Sunset Dress ($168) by Moulinette Souers wasn’t even on my radar. The product shot is a little bit fug in my opinion. Not doing much to sell me on it. In-store was a completely different story. They had this on a dressform with the Discus Bloom Necklace ($44) which is oh so pretty. The dress was so easy and light on in my true size 6. There is a tank dress underlayer that you can see helping to keep me demure. And it has pockets! I ♥ pockets. Since the shape is pretty simple the verdict on this dress is going to come down to whether you like the print or not. If you like it you will like this dress. Ambivalence or less renders this a maybe/wait for sale/meh. For me, it’s a wait for sale.

Speaking of things I don’t need, I don’t need another long cardigan. But wouldn’t you know that I just adored the Autumn Sun Sweatercoat ($128) by Sleeping on Snow. I tried on the small which was fine open but I’d need my true size medium to close all the buttons comfortably. Man I really like this cardigan. It went well with the Harvest Sunset Dress and would look great over skinnies or leggings…no! Must. Not. Cave. It was kind of itchy. I am pretty itch-resistant so it didn’t bother me too much. Those with sensitive skin will want to treat this sweater with Woolite or avoid it.

Great reviews Roxy! Not a fan that Anthro decided to go with real animal fur but I guess I don't have to buy it. Oh and btw-I haven't been reading your blog that long-but have you ever posted your face before today? This is my first time seeing you-and you are too cute!

FYI-fur trim is NOT real rabbit. Customer service has verified that the body of the wool coat contains a very small percentage of rabbit hair, but that the cuffs are faux.

I just bought this coat over the weekend and I LOVE it!!! I was skeptical of the weight of it as well, but it seems to be pretty thick wool, so it should be ok. I found the cut to be very flattering and just fell in love with it when I tried it on. The fur on the hood and cuffs is def faux! It says it on the website and I think it feels like it too. But it looks really nice for being faux fur!!

Embers, I have shown my face once before I think. Not really into major face time but in this case I thought it was valid for the review. When I spoke with customer service yesterday I was told the rabbit trim was real. If an Anthropologie employee can verify otherwise I will update the post. Just as an aside, my intent is not to start a fur/no fur war, I just think peeps have a right to know what's in the coat.

Update: spoke with a friend/Anthro employee and she verified that the trim is faux. Post has been updated, apologies for the incorrect information.

Thanks for the reviews. I haven't tried on the harvest sunset dress but own the windfall dress which I love which is very similar. Will likely wait for harvest to go on sale and try and pick one up then.

Roxy – you're so cute!! It's nice to see your face! I love both the coat and the Harvest Sunset Dress on you – they both look great! So you'd say the coat runs small?
