Reviews: Sugarplum Cowlneck and Crimpled Cardigan

Anthropologie at ShopStyle

I had my doubts about Sine’s Sugarplum Cowlneck ($88). Specifically I was worried that it was either going to say Old West or Hipster on. But I can’t say no to purple so I grabbed the top in-store to try on.

Surprise, surprise though. I was thrilled with the top! I tried on my true size 6, and though it has a tieback waist I left it untied. The cowlneck looks a lot less bandanalike in real life and the translucent voile is the perfect base layer for a cold weather outfit. Even with the tieback untied the shirt naturally came in at my waist to create a pleasant shape. The length was great too, coming to my low hips. I threw the Crimpled Cardigan ($78, full review below) on over it just like that I was fully outfitted. A long cardigan would also work.

I took off the Sugarplum Cowlneck to snap a few more pictures of the Crimpled Cardigan. I love how Sparrow’s cardi has snaps. Yet another 80s trend making a return (or maybe it’s not 80s and I just remember lots of snaps as a kid). The length is OK for popping it over a blouse but it clearly isn’t long enough to wear over just a layering tee. The material is thin but not sheer. No itch issues for me. My true size medium fit with no gaps or pulling. Such a pretty purple color!

Gigi, of the fabulous blog Gigi’s Gone Shopping has begun including Anthropologie reviews in her expansive repertoire. Last week she IRL reviewed the Chroma Kimono Cardigan ($128) and the Flower Patch Wrap ($128). Great stuff, Gigi!

Oooh, you're making me think twice about the sugarplum cowlneck. You're saying I won't need a cami under it? That seems to be a bit hard to come by at Anthro these days and it makes me very happy.

It's still slightly see through but the cowlneck helps a lot. I am wearing a white cami underneath in the review shots. It is pretty ridiculous how many sheer tops there have been this fall!

The cowlneck look so cute, esp your hair coloring.
