Reviews: Floating Lace Blouse, Aegis Tank, Stork Club Jacket

Coolest. Jacket. Ever. Well, maybe not quite ever but the more I stare at the Stork Club Jacket ($168) by Tabitha the more I love it. The model’s facial expression is the complete opposite of how I felt with the jacket on. We’ll get to that review in a moment.

My first try-on was Pencey’s Floating Lace Blouse ($128) in my true size medium. This is a review by request for Amy and quite honestly I would not have tried this on unless by request. It’s beautiful no doubt. The lacework is nicely done. The ties on the sleeves are another story entirely. Not only were the ties fraying on just about every version of this shirt I saw, they were also way too long. It comes knotted once but I knotted it again just to shorten it up a little.

Shannon also tried it on and as Chloe astutely pointed out in the comments the retail version has a thick lace bottom while the online product shot does not. I have no idea if this is like the Wind Rippled Tee ($58) where the online and retail versions are slightly different. Either way this is a pass for me.

Next I moved on to Tiny’s Aegis Tank ($78). This top would be great for going out and in my case not much else. The cutout exposes a lot of top boob, so while it’s not vulgar by any means it’s a little hotter than I’d want for day. I sized down to a small for the best fit. And fit it does — this top created a great little shape on me.

The beadwork continues onto the back and the work quality is good. I could see wearing this on a date as a bit of a tease. But I’d want to cover it with something…like the Floating Lace Top! Or perhaps something a bit more opaque…

…which is where the aforementioned Stork Club Jacket ($168) comes in. The jacket comes in both white and black. I went for the black one size up in an 8. I find Tabitha to run small with tops. The jacket is a wool-mohair mix that I found pretty itchy. Then again you’re likely to wear this over long sleeves. The single button is really more of a half disco ball; all shiny and bejeweled. I love it.

I found the jacket to be very flattering on. I like the length of it and the sleeves, which ended right in the crux of my elbow. There was no white in-store for me to try on but that’s OK because I think I’d get more use out of the black anyway. It’s quite lovely and has earned a spot on my wishlist.

Coming up this week, a summary of Urban Outfitters’ Q3 Earnings Call, a blazer review roundup tomorrow, more OOTDs and such. Plus if all goes well I should have a very exciting announcement on Tuesday. Stay tuned!
