Reviews: Snowscape Tank, Bordurette Tank, Flourishing Obi Tank

I felt the same way when I tried the top on.

Just say “hammered silk” and I am in. Corey Lynn Calter’s Snowscape Tank ($148) is made of win for so many reasons. The color is in my opinion just the right shade of gold. I was unsure about how the neckline would work with my larger chest…luckily the answer is just fine. My true size 6 fit perfectly. The tank is long which makes me cheer but may leave the petite feeling less than thrilled.

I don’t even know how to describe the neckline. Embellishment entropy? Yet it all works on a top that could be dressed down under a sweater or vest or dressed up with a pencil skirt. Cannot get over how cool it is. I really love it. The price not so much. This top also got the review treatment on Adiaphane and Goldenmeans.

C. Keer’s Bordurette Tank ($98) has a lot going for it in my book. Pretty lacey neckline? Check. Sequins? Check. More sequins? Double check. The soft jersey is a good choice for the underlayer and I like the length. I tried on the small and it fit, but the hem was a bit tight around my hips. I didn’t find the top to be very flattering on. It’s cute and would work great under a cardigan. On sale this one’s mine. To the wishlist it goes.

I have no idea why the Flourishing Obi Tank ($88) sold out so quickly online but the good news is that it’s making its way into stores. I tried on my true size medium. The straps were too long and the chest was a bit too loose. I would size down to a small to buy this.

The top is really pretty. The pattern along the bustline is vivid, bright and beautiful. It has a side zip that is completely unnecessary. The straps cross over in an x shape in the back but are very thick — easy to cover with a bra. Another top I really like. I didn’t buy it right away…but I will probably cave soon.

Hey Roxy,The snowscape tank looks good on you! I just got the flourishing obi tank in the mail. You are completely right, it runs big. I ordered the small and the straps are too long and bust area is wide which makes it big on me around the bust and back. Other than that it is lovely and the details are nice. I have to see if I can get it tailored a bit.

Hi Roxy!So glad you tried it on…it'll be interesting to see if this will fit me…I took your advice and sized down to a SM but from your current review and the 2 on Anthro's site, looks like it still may be big… hopefully by the time I get it and need to exchange, my local Anthro will have this in….hmmm, we shall see ;)Elizabeth

I love the Snowscape tank on you, but I just don't think it's worth its price tag, especially as there are some anthro dresses that are less than it. But I am a sucker for hammered silk, and I am a sucker for neutrals. The color of the tank is scrumptious. Oh, but I did see another hammered silk piece by Leifsdottir that is adorable! Leifsdottir is killing me with their hammered silk pieces this winter. I really want the Glasshouse Dress and this blouse with lions all over it that is not yet online.Sorry for the rambling this morning, Roxy. I tend to do that when I haven't finished my coffee.By the way, ever since you posted about the Laced Dots Sweater, I can't get it out of my mind. And thank you for the linking!

I love that obi tank! I thought I had asked this question in a comment, but now I can't find where I left it (doh!)I am looking for a slip that isn't quite as girly and lacy as the Saint-Germain Chemise or Candlelight slip. I want a slightly longer one to peek out of a dress or slip because some of my dresses are a little to short for work. And doesn't look like lingerie. Idea? Anthro or other??

Roxy, you are 100% right about the Flourishing Obi, regarding sizing. I finally found it at the SF store and tried it on. It's gorgeous, but the straps were too long and the bust gaped a bit under the arms. Had to pass on it for myself. It looks fantastic on you! Thanks for the review!

Unrelated to the topic, but I just wanted to mention this amazing deal. My friend was at the Don Mills Toronto Anthropologie last weekend (we both live 3 hours away, hence my not immediately buying everything in the store), and all the sale items were an addition 40% off. Pretty good huh? Makes me deeply depressed I missed it.

Natalye – I think tailoring is a good option, the tank is so pretty it's worth it!Elizabeth – I have my fingers crossed for you. :)Tien – I agree on the price, I was sticker shocked by it.Jo – Bare Necessities and Free People have some good slip options. Also Victoria's Secret, though theirs might be too lingerie-like for you.Goldenmeans – I think it would look great against your lovely skin tone!Anon – Thank you much for sharing the link! 🙂 Hope someone from the community is able to take advantage.Suzi – Thank you! And I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.Gloria – Wow, that is awesome news. I am going to make a post on Monday to start gathering info…hopefully more markdowns are coming soon.

As for markdowns, I scored the tailored sailors trouser today for $39.95, marked down from $148. I almost purchased the Laced Dots Sweater, but I already blew my budget, so hopefully, next month. It really does run small.

Haha, I totally ordered the Snowscape tank once I saw it on Anjali. And now that I've also seen it on you, I know I've definitely made the right choice! So pretty, and I do love a good "statement" top. *claps happily*
