Reviews: Waltzing Daphne Blouse, Partly Cloudy Top, Photographic Foliage Tank, Carys Shell

Shoulder adornments — they’re everywhere. I think Anthro has four or five tops with various takes on epaulets. So far none of them have been especially awesome on me. Would the Waltzing Daphne Blouse ($98) by Yoana Baraschi reverse that trend?

Somewhat. This is the first of the accessorized shoulder tops that wasn’t overdone to me. The boxed fabric looks like a bow from far away. This top is alpha-sized so I grabbed a medium and that seemed to be right. I found that trying to tie the long sash to the front caused the sides of the top to pull so I tied it back instead.

It’s a very light and pretty top. I felt a bit unbalanced in it, like my top is much smaller, but the right cardigan or blazer worn over it will fix this. On the wishlist for now.

Here is Floreat’s Partly Cloudy Top ($88), which I know many of us have been curious about. It’s a very pretty blouse with a cute ruffle neckline giving way to a keyhole. There’s also some contrast stitching up the neck. This top was already missing a few sizes and the 8 I needed was gone. So I grabbed the 10. Normally I find Floreat tops too short but this top came close with the extra room of the 10. But it was way too big.

The bottom has tiny eyelets from a floral and vine pattern. So if you’re wearing something dark underneath it may show through a bit. I like the waistband accent a lot. It creates a great shape. There’s a four buttons down the back that look darling. But Floreat’s tops are never really quite right on me and this one was no exception. I like the idea of this top under a belted cardigan with a straight skirt. On sale I’d consider this one.

Weston Wear has a couple of black & white floral prints with a spin in-store. I tried both on. First is the Photographic Foliage Tank ($78). This was my favorite top of the day. The medium I tried was too big…Weston Wear’s sizing hasn’t been very consistent for me. I like the pops of color at the top and bottom of the shirt. The bottom pink hem is more fitted than the top itself but there was still plenty of give.

I would have bought this but I felt crazy even considering it — it’s 30 degrees outside! Come warmer weather I’d love to have this top, so hopefully by then it will be on sale.

The other Weston Wear tank is the Carys Shell ($118). The print reminds me of Marimekko while the sparkly neckline makes it a bit more festive. Again I grabbed a medium and it was too big. The poufiness around my middle would be gone in a small.

I liked this top a lot too. The big print at the bottom scared me but the length is just right so that I felt balanced. The neckline beading looked a bit cheap to me. I liked the effect better on the Paragon Top (now $50), also by Weston Wear. It’s not enough to dissuade me from liking the top overall. To the wishlist!

Roxy – thank you SO much for the reviews! I was wondering about the Waltzing Daphne Blouse, fit wise. I liked both that and the Embroidered Thicket Blouse, but would only be interested in one. So this review is greatly appreciated!Same goes for the Partly Cloudy blouse! For all the details you mentioned it seems darling. Did you find that the bottom was sheer at all? In your opinion – would you think you'd get more wear out of this or the Ice-Capped blouse? I love them both, but think they might be too similar to actually purchase both.I love the Photographic Foliage tank on you – awesome colors!

Hi Jessica, I didn't think the bottom of the Partly Cloudy top was sheer at all. There's the eyelets but they don't reveal anything. I would take this shirt over the Ice-Capped Blouse in a heartbeat. This one is more of an all-season top to me. I agree that between the Waltzing Daphne Blouse and the Embroidered Thicket Blouse I'd only want to choose one. (Although if they both make it to sale, I am reconsidering this stance.) 🙂

I'm kinda considering my stance on the partly cloudy top after seeing it on you.

I love loved the floreat top (it didnt look to big in the photo but I wasn't inside it so how would i know) and the Yoana Baraschi on you! I didn't read what you may or may have not bought, but did you splurge on somthing? I want the floreat blouse..I usually run small in them because of my torso being loong. Floreat is usually shorter so I have to get 6.

Natalie, I didn't buy any of these tops. I have a ton of short sleeve items already and it's cold out. 🙂 So I'm waiting.

hey roxy, thanks for the reviews & love the first two tops on you. i've been eyeing them as well but am allowed to touch anything until it hits the sale! the study-in-contrasts coat popped back (on sale!) on the site so i grabbed that- hoping it works well in person. the only way i could even see it was through my wishlist, the link to the page did the annoying redirect. also picked up some moss-colored wool shorts for $30… haven't worn shorts since… well, puberty, so this should be interesting 😉

hey roxy, sorry this is unrelated. BUT i know you have the monochromatic corset dress. Did you have any issues with the boning? I wore mine for the first time to a holiday party, and the seams at the waist started to unravel, and the boning totally ripped through the dress!! It's not like the dress was even tight, I wanted a size smaller but they were sold out. Do you think I could take it back to anthro if I just bought it over thanksgiving weekend? grrr so upset, i love this dress

I love the Partly Cloudy blouse on you, but yeah. I'm having a hard time getting excited for sleeveless tops, considering we still have a looong winter ahead of us (heck, winter hasn't even "officially" begun!).Blah.

Roxy, have you seen the Clara booties in person? The reviews are a little mixed about the comfort factor. Plus, I'd love to know what brand they are to help me decide what size to get. Wish I had an Anthro near me 🙁

Ade – hee! My wool shorts experiments have been very successful so far. I have a feeling yours will be too.Anon @ 11:48 – that sounds terrible. I've only worn mine a couple of times but so far it's held up. The one time I had a quality issue with an Anthropologie item (it was a sweater, though I can't remember the name anymore) the store took it right back with no questions asked. Hopefully this is still the case. Try it, and if it doesn't work I'd email CS.Anon @ 8:42 – Thought I had it figured out but alas, no. They are not associated with a brand on Anthro's website. All I can figure out from the reviews is that they are Euro sized, so it's probably not an in-house brand. Have you tried emailing CS? They sometimes know the brand.

Roxy, Regarding the Clara booties, CS advised that they are made by Antelope. I thought I'd pass on the info in case anyone else was wondering since the sizing seems to be a sticking point on the reviews. Enjoy your holiday!
