The biggest sale of the year is coming

You’ll note that the date on the image above is wrong (because it’s from 2009) but the timing is right. Yes ladies, next Tuesday should be a great day for Anthropologie sale hunters. It happens twice a year; Anthropologie is ready to clear out a bunch of items and the Sale section will grow exponentially. Kathryn and Carol first mentioned the upcoming sale on In Pursuit of Pretty Things. I was planning to wait until Monday to talk about this so as not to start a frenzy but I’ve been getting a bunch of emails about this as a result of their post so I figured now is as good as any time. Because clearly the frenzy is already here!

There’s markdown weeks, there’s big markdown weeks and then there’s these twice-a-year markdown weeks. We’re talking a lot of items here. For the last couple of years this has meant instead of walking into Anthropologie and seeing new items I’ve seen the sale racks right up at the front of the store. It will be very interesting to see how Anthropologie positions the markdowns this year since they’re doing so well. Hopefully it works the same as past years and they throw us a bone already. The sale stuff is organized by item category (sweaters, pants, skirts, etc.) and then by price, so there’s a rack of $70 items and a rack of $30 items and so on.

Remember the goal here is to clear out the Pre-Spring/Spring stuff and motivate you to buy from the late Spring and Summer collections (which will still be full price). Is an item that came out 2 weeks ago going to be on sale? No. Is an item that came out 30 days ago going to be on sale? No. Anthro will still hold true to their sale cycle in almost every case. What this does mean is the items that we’ve been waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) to hit sale are finally likely to do so. There will hopefully be a bunch of 2nd markdowns to look forward to as well. I’m optimistic that the items that were “accidentally” marked down 2 weeks ago will once again be on sale come Tuesday.

We’ll still play the Sale Guessing Game on Monday afternoon. Then on Monday night Kim will run by one of her Chicago stores so be sure to check out Anthroholic to see what the scoop is. And come Tuesday morning feel free to wake up with me to see what the full list looks like (be ready to scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll and scroll).

Want some tips for the hunt to avoid flowy overload? Here are my plans for Tuesday:

1. Make a list of items you really, really want.
I have not-so-patiently been waiting for a bunch of items to go on sale. This weekend I’ll be whittling down that list to probably 4 or 5 items that will fill holes in my closet. Will I stick to that list? Who knows, but it will be my starting point.

2. Set a budget.
It’s really easy to get caught up in the hype of “everyone is buying x item so I must need it too!” or “the deelz are so good I must spend $” or even “this hardly happens so it’s worth the splurge”. But one hard & fast rule for me these days is to ignore the pack mentality and buy the items that I need (or desperately want) and live vicariously through others for the rest. I’ve set 2 budgets for myself: the “well this really wasn’t such a big deal after all” budget or the “holy crap 40 items I want went on sale, what the hell do I do budget”. I will not be going over that 2nd number.

3. Breathe!
One of the hardest things for me is that while I’m writing the Sale posts on Tuesday the items I want are quickly depleting in inventory online. I’m sure this affects community members not near a store more than me but nothing is worse than prepping your cart and then finding an item out of stock when you go to checkout. But if there’s one thing I’ve noticed lately with the weird development of people “pre-buying” items on Monday night, it’s that almost everything comes back into stock. So if the item you want is sold out on Tuesday morning when you wake up don’t despair. You’ve got a community here of ladies to keep their eyes peeled in stores. And there’s a good chance that your item will pop back up online once Anthro’s inventory system catches up. So I’ve learned to be patient (sort of). As much as I loves me some Anthro, it is just clothing.

Before you ask no I have NO IDEA what items are going on sale yet. We’ll play the guessing game on Monday, I promise! And I am very much looking forward to it. I can’t wait to share in the excitement of scores with everyone. If you have questions please leave them in the comments. I hope you have your pennies saved up.

    haha i can't wait. i wish i didn't have work on tuesday!!

  2. May 14, 2010 / 12:40 pm

How exciting! Is this usually a clothes-only event or do they include home as well?

  3. May 14, 2010 / 12:58 pm

I'm very excited for this. I have my eye on a few items, but I haven't been able to track down the aniseed skirt in my size (and I anticipate it will hit sale on Tuesday), and so I broke down and bought the modcloth version yesteray (I know, I know!)

  4. May 14, 2010 / 1:03 pm

Oh dear. I am so excited for some long coveted items to hit the sale…but also fearful of the upcoming stampede. I can already hear a rumbling off in the distance…

  5. May 14, 2010 / 1:06 pm

Ooh im excited Roxy. This past tuesday I bought the Aniseed skirt (they just restocked online). So Im definitely hoping it goes on sale so i can get some of that cash back :)Thanks for the early heads up!

  6. May 14, 2010 / 1:07 pm

Lauren- in case your interested the Chula Vista, CA Anthro had plenty of aniseed skirts. Hopefully they go on sale Tuesday and you can snag one if you want 🙂

  7. May 14, 2010 / 1:12 pm

Roxy, I want to give you a big big hug, because you're like my big sister looking out for me come sale day. Loved your advice on breathing, budgeting, and putting it all in perpective b/c yes, it is only clothes after all. I'm too excited about this as it will be my first time having a store nearby to scope out the major sale, and already planning to visit this weekend for a pre-buy. Thanks again for all your dedication- much appreciated.

  8. May 14, 2010 / 1:13 pm

Roxy – do you know if the items will follow the same mark down pricing that anthro typically follows?

  9. May 14, 2010 / 1:14 pm

I am super excited about this. Thanks Roxy for the announcement. I have been trying to hold out for the Breezy Ride Cardigan, Lift Off Jacket, and a couple of other items. I really hope for my wallet's sake that half my wish list doesn't go on sale.

  10. May 14, 2010 / 1:18 pm

Oooh, hooray! In addition to receiving the 15% birthday discount courtesy of my Anthro card, I'll also have a sale! Thanks for the notice Roxy!

  11. May 14, 2010 / 1:19 pm

ahhhh! i can't stand it. so excited!roxy, thanks for the words of wisdom.

  12. May 14, 2010 / 1:20 pm

Roxy- I know the big sale racks they put out front in stores, but mever watched online- Will it be like regular Tuesday sales? Will they out ALL sale items online as well- I guess my question is, just so I'm 100% prepared, is: Thisis not strictly a STORE sale, but online, too?

  13. May 14, 2010 / 1:21 pm

Jessica – home items should also be included. :)Mrs.LifeAccounts – yes, most items will marked down by the usual amount (so $88 becomes $50, etc.). prettyface – everything that's on sale in-store should also be represented online, so long as inventory is available.

  14. May 14, 2010 / 1:25 pm

Woo hoo! So excited!! Thanks for the scoop!

  15. May 14, 2010 / 1:33 pm

I am super excited. I've already made my list and considering pre-buying a few items, as I have no anthro near me.

  16. May 14, 2010 / 1:33 pm

    yes, thanks for the scoop!

  17. May 14, 2010 / 1:37 pm

i'm kinda bummed that this sale is coming now. my husband is still looking for jobs and we're sort of strapped for cash this month. so, i guess i'll be living vicariously through everyone else who is able to take advantage 🙂 enjoy ladies!

  18. May 14, 2010 / 1:53 pm

Oh boy, this is going to be very tempting. Time to start planning and looking over the trusty old wish list.

  19. May 14, 2010 / 1:55 pm

I have a question. Let's say my store has never stocked item A or that they once stocked item B but then sold out of it. Any chance then that they'll get a shipment of either A or B or both and have them available during the sale?I have a list of about five cardis I've been holding out on–Snowmelt, Percussive, and Pin-Up, to name three–but my store either never carried them or ran out long ago.

Will they do price adjustments for items purchased within the 14 days? I don't live near a store.

I hope the BEDA Dress goes on sale….Anyone think it will. GREAT post by the way, puts things in perspective that you really don't need EVERYTHING….

  22. May 14, 2010 / 2:05 pm

thanks for the post roxy! so excited… 🙂

  23. May 14, 2010 / 2:13 pm

Sorry, one more question: I ordered the Night Skating top on-line what will be exactly two weeks ago this Tuesday. If it goes on sale this coming week, can I bring my receipt (and the top? or will the receipt alone suffice?) into the store and get a PA or do I have to call CS? Thanks!

  24. May 14, 2010 / 2:17 pm

Lauren S. — If you ordered it on line, you can call CS and they will do the PA over the phone. If you want to take it to a store, just bring the receipt and they can do the adjustment.

  25. May 14, 2010 / 2:21 pm

do they also do second cuts? i really want the dotted greetings dress and they have one left in my size online, but I really don't need another dress, let alone a strapless one.

    May 14, 2010 / 2:23 pm

For those of you who do live near a store…I don't. Does anyone have thoughts on if this would be a good time to take a little road trip? Are the in-store sales usually as good as/worse than/better than those online? Does anyone have thoughts on whether stores will be inundated with other crazy sale shoppers like me (haha)?I feel so silly for planning around a sale, but man if I haven't been a good, frugal girl this year. I'm ready to blow off some Anthro-steam!

  27. May 14, 2010 / 2:26 pm

so… do you think the two-wheeler dress i ordered (and is on backorder until june!) might be among the sale items? and how would that work if it is? it's been around for a while now but it's sooo friggin' popular. (i really just want the dress at this point regardless of price… but a sale price would make me very happy)

  28. May 14, 2010 / 2:34 pm

Diem, thank you!Miesha, I just about always get to my Anthro right as they open on sale days, after checking things out on-line, and there are two big benefits I've noticed:1) They may have a big selection of an item that is totally sold out on-line (this happens a lot) and 2) You'll find some "surprise" items–i.e. items that they may have had lurking in the back and they're marked down to $9.95 and/or things you didn't realize were on-sale because they've been sold out on-line for weeks. Anyway, if you're able to go to a store and have the money to spend, I'd say it was worth a road trip to get to the store. And if possible, try to get there right after they open–you'll have first pick and a good half hour or so before things get crazy 🙂

  29. May 14, 2010 / 2:49 pm

I can't participate in this sale, but I'm wishing you ladies all luck in having what you want go on sale, and being able to everything on your wishlist.Sidenote–It looks like the San Francisco store has a restock of the Looping Lanes belt. I know this belt is hard to find. I saw around 4-5 of them, an definitely saw some mediums and larges. I did not notice any smalls. 415-434-2210

well, here's a question. I'm sure some of you "pros" at this already know the most savvy strategies, but I wondered if anyone ever buys items they hope/ predict will go on sale, say a couple of days before the sale, then wait and see if the price goes down on the actual sale day and then go back and ask for a price adjustment? Just wondered if this is one way to be able to be sure you get your size in a coveted item, while taking advantage of a sale price?I've never gotten a price adjustment, but wondered if this would be helpful.Melissa

  31. May 14, 2010 / 3:31 pm

exciting! definitely gonna double check my wishlists to make sure everything that's been haunting me is there…:)

  32. May 14, 2010 / 3:44 pm

    whoa! so exciting!!! i can't wait! 🙂

  33. May 14, 2010 / 4:07 pm

What were the items that "accidently" went on sale two weeks ago???

  34. May 14, 2010 / 4:21 pm

Ohhhh dear. 🙂 This is exciting. Perhaps too exciting.

  35. May 14, 2010 / 4:27 pm

Anon @ 9:58 – yes. You can call CS to get a price adjustment if you're within your window.Lauren S. – sometimes stores have additional stock in their back room, and sometimes stores shift inventory around. So it's possible that the cardis you are looking for may re-appear. No guarantee though.jen – yes, there will also be second cuts. Those won't show up online until Wednesday most likely but they should be in-store on Tuesday. Meisha – I think it could be fun to do a road trip! I might be a little wary though until I know for sure what items are on sale.Miss JR – I think CS would be able to adjust the price for you if the Two-Wheeler Dress ends up on sale. Melissa – I personally do not take this tactic, because I don't really trust myself to return an item if it isn't marked down. But yes in theory that would work.Scarlatina – the items I remember off the top of my head are the Bouquet of Stripes Tee and the Lunar Eclipse Top.

  36. May 14, 2010 / 4:34 pm

Wahoo! And it's my birthday month too so I have my 15% discount card. Super excited! Thanks for the head's up Roxy! 🙂

  37. May 14, 2010 / 4:48 pm

Oh. Em. Gee! This is not good. For clothing, thanks to my larger size 14/16 usually being the first to go, I may be alright. But the home items? That will be my Achilles' heel…seriously. A trip to the Anthro near my office will in order on Tuesday.

  38. May 14, 2010 / 4:54 pm

OMG I can barely wait for this sale!!! I've planned my Monday night around going to the store to give everyone as big of a prescoop I can – so stay tuned and thank you Roxy for mentioning me! I REALLY hope the Rushing Ruffles Dress hits the sale rack, and the Blooming Lattice Cardi so I can get a PA!

  39. May 14, 2010 / 5:11 pm

I'm practically shaking with excitement! But I'm afraid that most of the items I'm dying for are too recent (mid to late March). I've got my fingers crossed for the Papaver Herald Bag!

  40. May 14, 2010 / 5:13 pm

The Courtship Blooms Knit was also one of the "now you see it, now you don't" sale items last week.Personally, I'm crossing my fingers that the Bougainvillea Cardi, Blue Book Blouse, Air Mail Skirt, and Beda Dress make it to sale… and that my husband will give me some money to spend, because I spent all mine at the first big round of May markdowns, LOL.

  44. May 14, 2010 / 5:47 pm

So excited! Come onnnn field game cardigan and clearly constructed dress!!Good news, I got my tax refund today. Bad news, I don't live near a store! :(Also, I bought the seabound skirt last weekend in a store, if it goes on sale, how do I get a PA? Do I have to go in to Houston or can you call CS? 🙂

  45. May 14, 2010 / 5:57 pm

I am so excited! Already planned a "lunch meeting" with another co-worker that day at…Anthropologie! As Anthropologie is relatively new to Canada – I had no idea they had these types of sales – when is the other "epic" sale during the year?Thank you Roxy for always keeping us in the know!

  46. May 14, 2010 / 6:43 pm

I started to get excited when I read Carol's post about this earlier this week. I made myself a list already of my 'must-haves' and this weekend I'll be visiting my local Anthro to pre-purchase. Hope this tactic works, because I don't feel like getting stressed from not finding my size after Tuesday. LOL!!By the way, are any other Austin ladies going to the new Anthro store opening at the Domain? I look forward to meeting up with y'all!!And Roxy, do you know why (although I tick the 'email follow-up comments to' box) I no longer get the emails send to my email address? It just stopped doing that since a few days ago, for your other posts (Buy/Sell, etc.) as well.

  47. May 14, 2010 / 6:52 pm

Roxy: Do you know if they mark things down about the same amount (1/2 off) or do they take even more off? I'm so exciteeeed.

  48. May 14, 2010 / 7:22 pm

Hello ladies, I have changed my previous log in id from 'Naomi and Jonathan' to 'Naomi' since I was having issues receiving follow-up comments from this blog to my old email address – new email is jonaomi3 at gmail. To the Austin ladies – I just tried to RSVP to the Anthro opening night, and all I get is a recording to say this is Anthro and please leave a message. Is this correct?

  49. May 14, 2010 / 7:26 pm

Naomi,I'm in Austin but haven't heard any news about the opening of our second Anthro at the Domain. Do you have any details? Can't wait for the big sale on Tues!Sara (cwolf715@aol.com)

  50. May 14, 2010 / 7:28 pm

I think someone might have already commented this but the "Winding Roads Tank" is now available in yellow and navy. Does this mean it won't be goin on sale? Also, I noticed that the shot of the model wearing the gray version has a different shape 'zig-zag' then the pink top modeled with the landing fields skirt. Has anyone noticed that the pattern is unique to each item in stores? I actuallynever got a chance to see this one IRL.Thank you ladies! THIS COMMUNITY ROX (haha get it? ok sorry bad joke!). 😛

  51. May 14, 2010 / 7:29 pm

Roxy, Do you think any currently backordered items will make it to sale? I'm looking at the Through-the-clouds tank and two wheeler dress specifically. Thanks! 🙂

  52. May 14, 2010 / 7:37 pm

Speaking of back-ordered items…does anybody think the Parted Petals Cardigan (backordered until May 21st) will be going on sale too? Thanks again!

  53. May 14, 2010 / 7:38 pm

KarenSmittyNYC – Chelsea Market's sale room is pretty small. I think Rockefeller Center is your best bet.Emily – you do either. If you call CS for a PA make sure you have your receipt handy as they'll need some info off of it.Anna – the other is in late November/early December.Naomi and Jonathan – hmm, I have no clue. 🙁 Is anyone else having this issue?klinn – about the same for most items, though every so often I have seen items marked down more!Mandy – it's not likely. But there is always a possibility. A few of those items are within the window of time for a markdown so it could happen. I can recall it happening with a couple of items over the winter. I'll cross my fingers for you. 🙂

    May 14, 2010 / 8:08 pm

I literally screamed when I saw your post. Yay to super sale!Good point about making a list of items we really really want and not get caught up in thepack mentality. The things that I really want right now are still new so those most likelywon't be on sale – I'm hoping they are not anyways. It might be good for me to go over my closet and see what I would like to have the most. What are the items you really really want Roxy?

  55. May 14, 2010 / 8:32 pm

erm. what? this is NOT GOOD TIMING for me at all..sheesh..including home? If home goes on sale I may crack. Good heavens…I will keep my eyes peeled for anything in the NY stores posters are looking for..maybe shopping vicariously will make me feel better lol.

Best time to in-store??Ok, so I'm curious, if I'm going to the store for the sale should I go Monday night, Tuesday-day, etc–what works?? (Sometimes working from home is just too flexible!!).

  57. May 14, 2010 / 8:44 pm

ive been sort of sad about missing out on this sale due to lack of funds but then i realize…. I HAVE $100 IN STORE CREDIT!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Today is good.

  58. May 14, 2010 / 8:48 pm

Thanks for your tips Roxy. I am a total sucker for that "pack" mentality, and get all stressed when I know a sale is coming. I feel such pressure to get online early and order tons! I have a bunch of stuff I bought 2 weeks ago, so I'm going to have to see if anything else I love goes on sale and figure out what to actually keep. It's hard once I have the clothes in my house to actually return them, though!

What time do mark-downs happen online?? I can definately stay awake for a deal!!

  60. May 14, 2010 / 9:20 pm

I may have pre-emptively purchased a few cardis I've been coveting for a while in hopes of a PA :). There are only a few other things that I'm reallyyyy wanting off my wishlist that have a possibility of going on sale. Thankfully everything else is fairly new, haha.

Carmen,I received a really pretty card in my mailbox on Tuesday with the info I posted to you earlier. Why don't you give them a call and see if they can send you an invite.

  64. May 14, 2010 / 9:44 pm

hey naomi do you have the number to call to rsvp? I tried looking for it and could not find it.

  65. May 14, 2010 / 9:47 pm

Jessica, the number is (215) 454-4541. Good luck!

  66. May 14, 2010 / 9:54 pm

I accidentally walked into one of these sales last spring and my heart started beating so fast I thought they were going to have to call me an ambulance. It was like Wonderland. Among other things, I got a great little dress for $29.95 (an insane markdown) and some tanks for $9.95. I felt ever so slightly guilty…the stuff was so cheap it was almost like stealing…but wow. Shopping can definitely be better than sex!

  72. May 15, 2010 / 1:38 am

Anon @5:01,Items online usually go on sale at 12pm PST (3am EST- ouch! roxy is a trooper to wake up :)). It's a gradual thing and you'll see more items being changed by the minute. You can check your wishlist, but generally I've seen the item show up first in the non-sale section, ie. under "Dresses" as "$99 was $188" or whatever. I usually do a scroll through to see what is coming up. Like Roxy said too, things seem to sell out immediately and then pop-back, so just keep an eye out. Cheers!

Meg, if the Wright dress gets another cut, I will be grabbing that PA! I doubt it will happen because it just went on sale last cycle, but maybe the others? As for me, I have spent my budget after a yay-I-passed-quals shopping "spree," but if the Chantico tank goes on sale I might have to make room somehow.

Stephanie – oh man, I am still working on my list. I'm going to defer answering until Monday if that's cool. I can't decide!!Anon @ 4:39 – I would say right when your local Anthro opens is the best time to go. Anne MArie – you will have to call customer service (CS) to get them to adjust your item to the sale price.Anon @ 9:58 – I would lurve free shipping, but I think it's too early for it. Expect it after Memorial Day. (I would love to be surprised on Tuesday morning though!).

I think there's a very good chance the Cartography cardi will hit sale. I bought it when it first came out but then returned it because it kept riding up on me any time I moved. But I might give it another try–it's soooo cute and goes with a ton of stuff.Personally, I'm hoping the Climbing Cowlneck will make it–I have it in sky and dark pink (the pink will qualify for a PA, too) and the cut is so flattering, I want it in the remaining colors! Also, the Sailing Hobbyist skirt is super cute and I think there's a good chance it'll make the cut considering when it was released. Ditto the Pin-Up cardi, Swift Current Cardi, Percussive Cardi, Geranium Blouse, and maybe the Roaming Ruffles Cardi, and Unwinding Cardi as well. My one dream item is the Through the Clouds tank, which is on backorder so likely won't be marked down. But I'm hoping!

Thanks for the reminder about this sale. I had forgotten already. I am going to take your tip of looking online & setting a budget. It's easy to get caught up. Although last year when I accidentally stumbled across the sale, I had a lot of self control. Too much. There is still one top I think about now and again to this day. Looking forward to the sale guessing game!

I am so excited but I really need to set a budget for myself! My closet is overflowing so I really do not need anything. There maybe a few items I really want though!!!

Roxy–I just saw in the comments that sale items are not published online until 3am!? I never realized the lengths you go to to give us the latest sale updates–thanks for that and all you do to keep this great blog going. It is something I enjoy every week and I'm sure many of us feel the same.

What do you think are the chances of Leifsdottir's Southern Chorus Shirtdress going on sale are???I'm seriously lusting over that dress.

  89. May 17, 2010 / 12:49 am

Anon @ 5:05 – :). Ivoire – it's a pretty new release so the chances seem low. But you never know.

Whenever I need a price adjustment for something I've purchased online, I just email customer service with my order number and list the items that need adjusting. They usually email back in a couple of hours with confirmation of the adjustment. I have 2 kids and waiting on the phone to talk to someone just isn't a reality. The kiddos always choose that moment to revolt!

I was just wondering where this tidbit of information came from? I'm going to call my local (Toronto) Anthropologie later today to make sure it's right, but I don't want to sound like a crazy person mumbling about some sale I heard about on the internet. Has Anthropologie sent out an email?

  92. May 17, 2010 / 1:03 pm

Gloria – no email. My friends who are Anthropologie employees told me, and also this past weekend at the NYC Anthros the store associates were telling everyone about it. I don't think it's any big secret. 🙂 I would be very interested to know if Canada is participating so if you do call please let us know what you hear!

  93. May 17, 2010 / 1:06 pm

I noticed this weekend that the sale section at the Reston, VA was pretty cleared out. I said something to one of the SAs about the upcoming sale, and she basically just ignored me. I think she is one of their most unfriendly SAs. Wish the Reston SAs were as open and informative as the NYC ones!

  94. May 17, 2010 / 1:39 pm

I would be very surprised if the Toronto Anthros don't have a big sale as well. We always get the same sales you guys get in the States. I was actually at both Toronto Anthros yesterday, and the Yorkville Anthro had a lot of items stored at the back of the store (upstairs) or in the spaces under the tables in big piles on top of each other….items I would expect to be put on sale. Here are some of the things I can remember:salitre blousebuds and bunches teechantico tankoroya dressbotany lesson tankto the sun blousemagnified geranium blouseassemblage tankrainforest morning shirtdressfluttering petals tankbilliards hall henleytecolote tankwindow box tankthrough-the-clouds tank (I believe)soft edges teeblue book blousesummer wandering tankroaming frills cardiganClinging Blossoms Cardigan Colored Pencil Cardigan Bougainvillea Cardigan (!!!)Spilling Ruffles Cardigan Swift Current CardiganNearly Gossamer Cardigan Four Petal Cardi Unwinding CardiganOk….that was a long list. I don't know how you do it each week, Roxy, but we definitely apprecite it. I hope I am right and some/all of these items go on sale. Getting excited here!!!

ooooh, I can hardly wait. I was in the store this weekend with my mom in town. One of the SA who knows me by name came over to say hello and commented about me being in on the weekend vs weekday (which is very weird that they know my shopping habits!). I told her I would be back on Tuesday morning bc a little birdie told me about a big sale and she didn't say anything but just smiled. I wonder why so hush hush. Oh well. I already put in for time off Tuesday morning from 10am-lunch. Since I work about 5 minutes away from a store, I intend on being there when the doors open!!!

Does anyone know what time the website updates?

When I spoke to a local SA (who was SO nice and helpful!) about the sale, she confirmed it with a lot of enthusiasm–and omg, it's so big that they're going to have a tent outside the store!

I just called and she said that tomorrow home and apparel will be roughly 50% off at Yorkville's location. She seemed a bit clueless though, and when I first asked she said she didn't think so. She didn't give any indication as to whether the sale was bigger than usual either. Anyone in the GTA care to call later and see if they get a different/more specific reply? Thanks!

  99. May 17, 2010 / 3:42 pm

Anyone think the Lift-off jacket will go on sale???

  100. May 17, 2010 / 4:26 pm

@ Alanna -I shop the Reston, VA store too and find that SOME of the SA there are just so unfriendly, like they have a chip on their shoulder! I spoke with the manager (I think?? she is VERY nice) as I was checking out and said that the rumor was a big sale coming Tuesday. She just said "Ohhhhh yeah." Like, it is gonna be big. Most of their merchandise was cleaned out it seemed, I think I may resort to ordering things on line and paying shipping to be sure I get what I want!

  101. May 17, 2010 / 4:28 pm

Not to give anyone false hope but the stores have large backstock rooms too, so if your store looks empty it might just be because they're organizing it all in the back. 😉

  102. May 17, 2010 / 4:34 pm

Roxy – Excellent point! I get the feeling that the shops way out in the 'burbs don't get the same stock as the shops in the city, though. ;~)Of course I am going to be there at 9:55 a.m. tomorrow, regardless!!

  103. May 17, 2010 / 4:34 pm

@Katie – I'm so glad it's not just me. I return online stuff a lot and wondered if they look down on me for that. I agree – there are a few SAs there who are super unfriendly, and then others who are really nice. The manager (long blonde hair) is REALLY friendly. I'm always in there with my kids, too, so I always feel kind of self conscious when they're unfriendly…like they think I'm not cool enough for Anthro or something. :)The store/sale section seemed empty to me too, so I'll probably online order. I hope to make it there at some point tomorrow, but can't be there right at opening like I'd hoped! Good luck!

  104. May 17, 2010 / 7:04 pm

I just received an email from Anthro about menus and outfits. In the top corner, it mentioned that the sale will start tomorrow IN STORE. Does that mean that they won't do markdowns (or markdowns as significant) online?

  105. May 17, 2010 / 8:19 pm

kikki cee – I think that email is home-driven because those products tend to have higher in-store than online conversion. Just a guess on my part though. There will absolutely be clothing on sale tomorrow and I expect the online update to happen as well. 🙂

  106. May 18, 2010 / 4:15 pm

Hi, is the Snakebite Belt on sale and says still back order 5/28/10? thanks
