Reviews: First Flight Tee, Switchbacks Tank, High Tide Tee, Jessa Tank, Painted Hillside Tank

Note: I’m still in Mexico but this post fills in for no sale this morning. More guest posts are on the way!

There are many lovely things about the Painted Hillside Tank ($78). I love the hand-painted design and the long, lean shape of it. The real-life version however differed pretty dramatically from the catalogue shot.

I have no clue where the change came from but I’m sad. Why mostly white now? Why small cluster of flowers crawling up my chest? This is the moss version but the pattern more closely resembles the red motif. Sigh. Too bad. It’s still very pretty; I just yearn for the product shot version.

This tank has very little stretch to it. I tried on the large and was just barely able to squeeze myself into it. It’s sheer too. This top seems best suited to someone with tall, thin and with a small bust. There’s no chance for me to buy this tank sadly. Back to the rack.

Now on a floral tank kick of sorts, I grabbed Porridge’s Jessa Tank ($58) next. This is the grey motif version. The tank is a racerback with a charmeuse panel between the shoulders.

I tried on the medium and while it fit I think I’d size up to a large for comfort. It was stretching a bit over my hips in the medium. I like the pattern, especially that it has both blue and yellow in it. The raw edge neckline is cute and the fabric is a light cotton that will be comfortable all summer. Good stuff. Wishlisted!

From flowers to ruffles. This is Parc and Pearl’s High Tide Tee ($68). On the website many reviewers are pleased with how it skims curves and doesn’t over-accentuate. I agree. If you are looking to balance a pear this top is a good choice. Then again, there are huge ruffles over your hips so your mileage may vary.

Though I thought this would be a blouse it’s made of tee shirt cotton. Slubby. It is kind of low cut so I’d wear a cami underneath this. I did not mind the cap sleeves; they cover enough of my upper arm so as not to make them look bigger than they are. Still, I’m not quite in love with this top. Pass for now.

One more ruffled top. Deletta’s Switchbacks Tank ($68) starts with a jersey base and layers layer upon layer of fine wool and tencil on top. The result looks like a stage curtain closed across your torso. Also, the back is much thinner than the front and has some sheerness to it. A full lining would have been nice.

The top isn’t heavy but it is imposing. The top layer looks like wings settled over my bust and waves undulate softly beneath. I am usually a small in Deletta but the small in this top felt big. It might be intentionally oversized but I’d want to buy in a x-small. Which means that some will find themselves sized out of this one. I think this would be a great top to sleep in. Wishlisted.

Deletta’s First Flight Tee ($58) looks like a pixie top to me. The ruffled shoulders are very cute! I knew the shape wouldn’t work on me but I had to try it on anyway.

I like the draped cowlneck and the darted seams. On someone less curvy it will create gentle shape and on someone who is curvy it will accent to flatter. The shoulders are sadly a dealbreaker for me though. They’re unbalanced against my chest and the result makes me look heavy. Back to the rack for me but pretty nonetheless.
