Damn you technology!!! and some reviews

I hope you ladies will pardon me, but I need to vent for a minute. I am so mad at my iPhone right now!! I was having some minor issues before the OS upgrade but since moving my 3GS to iOS4 it’s been deadly pissing me off. The latest issue? It’s been overwriting my photos left and right. While the old OS gave photos the next available file name even after you’d removed photos the new OS seems to start over from 0 every time. So when I went to upload my photos from last night & today earlier I ended up overwriting most of my photos from earlier this week. Lost in the shuffle? Some awesome shots of me and a few friends out & about last night, photos from my bike ride through Manhattan/Brooklyn & Queens this morning and 20 raw Anthro reviews including 7 dresses that were supposed to be in this post.

Gone are my photos of the In the City Dress ($128), the Count the Waves Dress ($128), the Shifting Feathers Dress ($98), the Sugar & Cream Dress ($158), the Grosgain Peaks Dress ($138), the Marine Mural Dress ($248) and the Summer Twilight Dress ($298). Blargh. It really feels like losing two days’ worth of work. So I’m off to try to find them again. In the meantime here are the reviews that survived my epic technology fail.

Tracy Reese excels at the finer details of frocks, so I had no doubt that the Compeer Dress ($248) was going to have plenty of nice touches. Everything from the delicate lace with buttons and hook & eye closures to the cute belt and generously-sized pockets. The dress comes with a slip underlayer.

I tried on a medium. It fit nicely. The sleeves are small caps with just enough material to run past the shoulders. The material itself is a stunning burnt orange. I love the pattern of the lace and love that the buttons have been carefully covered in the same. This dress is truly gorgeous and if you haven’t bought a shirtdress yet as I’ve not then this is the one I’d recommend. Wishlisted!

Anthropologie wasted no time in sending Lil’s Discovered Lace Dress ($158) into stores. I can understand why — this dress is so pretty! It’s cut with just a hint of an A in the skirt, which is perfect for my curves. Since I usually size up in Lil I tried on the 8 and found it perfect. If you’re not curvy your normal size should be fine.

The lace is beautiful but delicate. The material is light and opaque. It’s a bit dark for summer but perfect for fall or winter. I really love this style of shift (I have a not unsimilar one from Anna Sui from last year) though I think some would find it shapeless. I won’t buy this dress simply because I already own similar ones. If I didn’t already own similar dresses I’d be all over this Lil frock!

The ensemble is back! Maeve once again does the hard work of pairing top and bottom for us with the Seaside Fields Dress ($138). This dress fits exactly like last year’s Bustling Avenues Dress, which to me is very tight at the hips! I’ve been a 6 consistently in Maeve this year but in this dress the 6 was hugging much too tightly on the bottom. Far too tight. An 8 is in order if I end up buying this.

I like the lime color of the top portion. The bottom is a blue-purple concoction with a crazy print. It’s very cool. There are pockets on the dress too. Not much bad to say about this dress but I’m not quite ready to buy it yet. Wishlisted for now.

Idra knocks another coat out of the park. This is the Clinton Trench ($188), a zippered jacket with a wavy ruffle above it all. I liked the regal look of it and the color is a nice medium beige. Goes with everything. The seaming creates a nice, flattering shape with darting near the waist.

My normal size 8 fit (same size I took in the Two Paths Trench). The shoulders have slight pouf to them. Since I have the Two Paths Trench this one is off my list but I do love this jacket. Highly recommended.
