Shop the February 2012 catalogue. This week’s Trade Market posts are right below this one!
I’m happy that Anthropologie heeded the community’s request for a better January 2012 catalogue than what 2011 had given us. Unfortunately for February the setting looks to be stark, drab and maybe a little boring. I suppose the plain backgrounds help to showcase the clothing better. All the models in movement make some of the clothing hard to see though.
I like a few of these images and the outfits within to be sure. But it’s an odd thing: in-store I’m noticing a lot to like recently (as you’ll see in my birthday haul post later this week, I had no trouble finding stuff to buy at Anthro) but the most appealing items don’t seem to be getting the catalogue treatment. The assortment isn’t quite right; there’s still too much sheer and not enough sleeves but I continue to see movement in the right direction.
This Thursday I’ll be running an essay with my thoughts on where Anthropologie stands. I can’t wait to hear what you think as well. For now, do any of these catalogue shots capture your imagination? What about the products I chose below that didn’t make the February book? What new items are hitting your wishlist?
Reduct Wedges ($178) and Piped Madras Fedora ($58).
The dress looks about 4 sizes too big on the model.
Madison Shorts ($88) and Trinket Flats, Bee ($98).
Bent Stripes Asymmetric Skirt ($188), Riika Heels ($228).
Muted Turns Wedges ($468), Shibori Stacked Wedges ($398).
And a few intriguing possibilities that didn’t get the catalogue treatment…
(Turns out this top is in the catalogue but the creative
didn’t make the product page til today.)
