Eye Candy: Anthropologie February 2012 Catalogue

Anthropologie February 2012 Catalog :: Effortless Anthropologie

Shop the February 2012 catalogue. This week’s Trade Market posts are right below this one!

I’m happy that Anthropologie heeded the community’s request for a better January 2012 catalogue than what 2011 had given us. Unfortunately for February the setting looks to be stark, drab and maybe a little boring. I suppose the plain backgrounds help to showcase the clothing better. All the models in movement make some of the clothing hard to see though.

I like a few of these images and the outfits within to be sure. But it’s an odd thing: in-store I’m noticing a lot to like recently (as you’ll see in my birthday haul post later this week, I had no trouble finding stuff to buy at Anthro) but the most appealing items don’t seem to be getting the catalogue treatment. The assortment isn’t quite right; there’s still too much sheer and not enough sleeves but I continue to see movement in the right direction.

This Thursday I’ll be running an essay with my thoughts on where Anthropologie stands. I can’t wait to hear what you think as well. For now, do any of these catalogue shots capture your imagination? What about the products I chose below that didn’t make the February book? What new items are hitting your wishlist?

Otta Dress ($168) with Autlan Heels ($468),
Ajaka Necklace ($198).
Can we talk about this shot for a moment?
Way to make me almost not want this dress anymore Anthropologie.
The dress looks about 4 sizes too big on the model.
This dress. With sandals. And socks??!?
A horseshoe-shaped necklace obscuring the v-neck?
Anthro’s catalogue styling is usually spot-on,
but this photo disturbs me.

And a few intriguing possibilities that didn’t get the catalogue treatment…

Anthropologie Carlow Tank :: Effortless Anthropologie
Love the visual interest from the front ties.
The ties probably won’t work with my chest but I’m interested to try the top and see.

Anthropologie Constructed Swing Jacket :: Effortless Anthropologie
I knew there was a reason why I passed on the Ascot Swing Coat —
this coat is its warm-weather cousin. Love the orange-y red!

Athropologie Olea Tank :: Effortless Anthropologie
Olea Tank ($68)
Is this top adorned with olives? Or is it ping pong paddles?
Come back on Wednesday for my review and see close-up for yourself.

Anthropologie Penelope Cowlneck :: Effortless Anthropologie
I want to be mad about the open, sheer-lace back.
But I can’t be — this top is too pretty!
Wear a blazer or cardi over it at work, and at night remove the top layer
for a beautiful date-night treat.

Anthropologie Scattered Wing Skirt :: Effortless Anthropologie
Anthropologie’s newest obsession — asymmetric hemlines — has bled into the skirt section.
The birdlike print makes this a beachy delight.

Anthropologie Winnowed Lines Tank :: Effortless Anthropologie
Winnowed Lines Tank ($58).
(Turns out this top is in the catalogue but the creative
didn’t make the product page til today.)
Impractical for New York City in January.
Must plan a tropical retreat!
