OOTD: Lasting Impressions

Winter’s over, but the chill is still hanging on in New York City. This calls for layers!

Jacket: Anthropologie | Tunic: Free People (with an old Anthro slipdress layered underneath)
Bag: Madewell (sold out in this color, similar 1 | 2) | Tights: Hue | Boots: TOMS
Sunnies: Free People | Watch: Apple | Bracelet: Free People | Necklace: Anthropologie (similar)
photos: Toni Skotcher

This Free People tunic is a piece I’ve had for a couple of years now and I love it so much that I bought the long-sleeve version too. One thing I love about this outfit is that all of the pieces mix and match into other looks so well! I guess that’s why black and white is the NYC uniform — it goes with everything, including much of the architecture here.

These photos were taken at the tail end of winter, and the High Line park is now starting to bloom with early flowers like crocuses, daffodils and soon enough, tulips! I can’t wait to mix more colors into my outfits to match.

What are some pieces in your closet that you wear often and find to be very versatile? What colors are you excited to wear as it gets warmer?

LOL on being disappointed that you love the expensive jacket. I've so been there. I buy something that I really shouldn't, get it in the mail thinking it's going back for sure, and then I try it on and realize “Uh-oh, I love this”. And then I have to sit on my hands for the next month (or two) to make up for it. But that is a lovely and very unique jacket. Totally a keeper.

I really like that Madewell dress too, but I'm just so done with OTS. I really wish it was a shift dress, with a little more shape to it.

I agree with blush being a great color – I'm usually adverse to pastels, but blush seems almost neutral, and goes well with the colors that I usually wear – black, ivory and plums/wine. And it actually puts some nice color in my face.

I have been so busy I have not been thinking much about spring, but when I was in Nordstrom the other day I saw this tank dress paired over an ivory lace bralet (which actually made it look like the dress had lace trim and not “oh look, her bra is hanging out) under it, an olive military jacket over it, and skinny light colored jeans. I LOVED the whole look: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/free-people-purple-ha… (also, I felt the fabric and don't think it's poly).

I am so in love with this Free People maxi tunic but it would have to be about 1/3 the price: http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/free-people-finest-he

I've been looking for grey sandals for a few years now, and these might be the ones. http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/free-people-revolver-

I guess it's all about Free People for me this spring. I think this coverup would be so versatile – over swimsuits, tank dresses, tees and capris. The coral is calling me. https://www.freepeople.com/shop/without-borders-c

That eyelet dress is so pretty Roxy, do you know if the shoulders can be brought up and look okay that way too? I like versatility and don't always feel like baring my shoulders even in the Summer. Also do you know if tops run pretty much TTS at Madewell? I've never purchased from them before, thanks!

Definitely! In store the eyelet dress was shown with shoulders up and it looks very cute!

As far as sizing I nearly always take my usual size medium.

Hi Roxy, I have been eyeing that same Rebecca Taylor jacket in gray! Do you mind telling me what size works for you in the jacket? We are a similar size. I think I am ready to bite the bullet and purchase it. Thanks!

      Yes! I have a size 10.

Ot but I'm feeling an extra percentage off sale tomorrow. Anyone else?

I hope! Just made some purchases yesterday. The sale room was packed so I'm thinking they need to add something to get everything cleared out.

I scored 3 popbacks this week for in store pick up. I'm not picking them up unless there's an additional percentage off ??

I purchased this dress and am IN LOVE with it…..haven't felt this way in so long. The fabric feels good and it is not stiff and it is lined! The dress isn't fitted….but it isn't super wide or anything and my normal size (00) I think will be just fine 🙂 There is the most beautiful beading on the the bodice…..very pretty dress and I can see myself throwing it on a lot with some sandals and out the door I go…..and it isn't too short…which has been a major issue for me and I am just 5'4. I highly recommend this dress!

Yay! Good to know! Did you buy online and hope for the best or in store and try on. I'm trying to decide on a size. I want to size down 1 to take the volume down a bit. 🙂 I'm all about the one and done too, when I can find one. It looks like a good one for that with the detail. ( I'm a 34C and also worry about it doing the shelf/maternity thing)
        Thanks again 🙂

I bought online….ordered my normal size and hoped this one would be a winner —like it it looks online. I think you could easily size down….to take away some of the fullness……I really love it!!! I would definitely say to give it a try—- 🙂

My store just got it in apparently and glad I checked again before ordering. Going to be able to try a couple of sizes. 🙂

YES, to that lavender jacket and the rose gold sneakers.

In love with both those “in” colors right now.

I thought I snagged a popback of the sold-out, Nike Thea's in rose gold last week. But, Nordstrom cancelled the order 🙁

I love a metallic sneaker. I may just grab the silver that's on sale at most stores.

    • March 8, 2017 / 8:59 pm

That's so funny, Thea is my real name and I see more and more products going by that name!! What a funny thing that is — and by the way, those sneakers are gorgeous! Booooooo to cancelled orders.

Ha, I forgot that's your real name! I get a kick out of products when they go by my name (Danielle), especially when they aren't close to anything I'd wear! I feel like I'm always a clunky sandal, lol.

Those Nikes are cute though, so they are doing you justice 😉

So true Shari! By the way I picked up the Washed Leather Jacket yesterday at Madewell — I had a gift card I'd been sitting on for awhile.

Cute sneakers help motivate me to hit the gym and make me feel so good afterwards too!
