Three degrees of New Year’s Eve…

Seeing fireworks on New Year’s Eve? Or bringing them, in the Carnival Dress ($242).

Even if your New Year’s Eve plans involve staying home there’s no reason why you can’t bring a little glitz to the proceedings! Who better than Free People, with its many multitudes of sparkle and glam?

Whether it’s a night on the town you want to be super sparkly for or a party where you just want a little shine, inside I’ve gathered up some great pieces and divided them into three categories…

Free People wisely showed one styling of the majorly mini Surry Sequin Dress ($300) as a shirt.

Let’s begin with the super party-ready items. These are items with tons of sparkle, shine, glam or glitz, like the Surry Sequin Dress ($300, above).

1 | Sparklette Mini Dress ($250) — not as short as the model shots make it look. I’m a big fan of it with the Lux Faux Fur Coat With Printed Lining ($298).
2 | Galactica Mule ($178) — dance the night away in comfort in these scene-stealing dusty silver mules.
3 | If your New Year’s Eve involves a concert or dancing, I highly recommend the eye-catching Shake It Up Cami ($98).
4 | Going to a party at a museum or art show? Everyone will want a closer look at you in the Zebra Maxi Dress ($420).
5 | Sparkle and shine all night long in the Glitter Marigold Block Heel ($148).
6 | These Gigi Slip-On Loafers ($128) go for the gold and score one hot pair of shoes!
7 | Want your bag to do most of the celebrating? The Starlight Crossbody ($78) is up to the task.
8 | The Chainmail Mini Backpack ($298) is the kind of bag you bring to dinner but leave up on the table.
9 | The Jinhai Baguette Crystal Earrings ($358) look heavy as hell, but also so very wonderful.
10 | You won’t be able to wear 2017 glasses with the Belle of the Ball Sunglasses ($30)…but, well, does it really matter??

The Cloud Dancer Flat ($80) has a bit of silvery shine, but doesn’t shout.

Next up, here are some items with a medium degree of glitz, glam, sparkle or shine. They can take an outfit from casual to party-ready, but aren’t so loud that they steal the show. The Cloud Dancer Flats ($80, above) are a great example.

1 | Going to be somewhere warm? Your feet deserve the all-night comfort of the Stella Kitten Heel ($180).
2 | Whatever you’re wearing, throw the Wild Thing Coat ($298) on over it for a subtle yet stellar glam arrival.
3 | Going to a low-key get-together with friends? Be festive without going over the top in the very cute (and very cool, check out that construction!) Star Studded Pullover ($168).
4 | The lace-all-over She’s Got It Slip ($88) is great under long sweaters, like the Back To Back Sweater Mini ($168). Or wear it on its own for a concert or dance party! I own it in three colors myself, and it runs true to size.
5 | Another lace piece I love is the Secret Origins Pieced Lace Tunic ($128), which rocks for dinners out or evenings in public waiting for the ball to drop (I recommend faux furry leather over it). In warmer weather? Try its sleeveless counterpart.
6 | Glam is all over the Alice A Line Dress ($148)!
7 | For shows or events where you’ll be on your feet, I love both the Metallic Hi Top Chucks ($65) for casual events and the Degas Ballet Flat ($68) for more festive atmospheres.

Elegant and sultry, the Eve Maxi Dress ($250) is understated and glamorous.

Perhaps your party is a work event, a multi-course dinner or a party at a fancy hotel. If so, subtle glitz and sparkle may be the way to go. Items like the Eve Maxi Dress ($250, above) mark the occasion with just the right amount of shine.

1 | Stun your dinner date in the chic Morita Dress ($590).
2 | Soft and saturated, the Sneaky Feelings Velvet Tunic ($58) promises to be a conversation starter without hogging the crowd.
3 | It will need a slip underneath for sure, but the Kendall Trapeze Slip ($68) brings color without overdoing it as a pretty dress.
4 | Go for easy and good-looking in the Alma Drop Waist Mini ($168).
5 | For house parties or outdoor parties (beach or boat especially), the Walking The Line Mini ($68) has endless potential.
6 | The Studded Suede Party Pouch ($68) is an easy way to bring some glitz to the party, and then take it off to revel.
7 | If color is your style language, the Audrey Shearling Clutch ($528) is ready to be your New Year’s Eve favorite!

Sometimes no sparkle is needed, like with the amazing Palomar Heel Boot ($298).

Or you could forget about glitz, glam, sparkle and all that stuff altogether and go for something cool like the Palomar Heel Boot ($298, above).

1 | The Retro Love Suede Dress ($168) is just asking for a night — or many — out on the town!
2 | Whatever you are wearing on New Year’s Eve, the Military Fur Trench ($750) would look perfect over it.
3 | Hide the Solar System 3D Hoops ($28) behind your hair, or show them off.
4 | The Lexie Rose Delicate Choker ($28) is a beautiful, simple piece.

What items are on your New Year’s Eve radar?
