Some last minute pickups before we say goodbye to 2015

Wearing these glasses to ring in the new year!

It’s time to say goodbye to 2015 but before I do, I’d like to share a few of the final great deals I’ve picked up this year…

Ok, I’m cheating to start off this list because this super cute Ted Baker cosmetics bag was a gift. But I love it so much already I want to tell the world! My old cosmetics bag had kicked the bucket not two weeks before so I was delighted to receive this lovely soft and slightly stiff leather replacement. And ohhh that bow! It’s just wide enough at its widest point to hold my makeup brushes and is large enough to hold a full day and evening’s palette. Perfect for trips, and also available in black. If the pink is sold out via the link above it’s also available here as of this writing.

There are a few other cute styles available too from Ted Baker, including a bag with a bigger bow and some beautiful printed options.

Although I keep telling myself that I own more than enough dresses (and I do!) I can’t help but be tempted by one or two new frocks each season. It’s becoming increasingly hard to follow my self-instituted one-in one-out rule, but I made space this fall for the DVF Plush Dress shown above. This sleeveless turtleneck mixed-texture dress is pretty much winter perfection — especially this warmer winter! I’ve been wearing it with polka dot tights much like the ones in the photo above…and loving it! The dress was just marked down again at Saks Fifth Avenue and is also available at Bloomingdales, Amazon and Shopbop (but at a higher price). I found this dress to run very short so I purchased a large instead of a medium — the large is big up top but good over my hips and for length.

As weird as this may sound I struggle with overheating in the winter. A typical NYC commute involves going from my toasty, radiator-heated apartment on the top floor of my building to the chilly outside to the too-hot subway back to the chilly outside and then to my office which is alternately boiling or freezing depending on the HVAC cycle.

So, while my puffer jacket has only one day’s use so far in this warm winter I’ve been on the hunt for a medium weight jacket. I settled on the Helly Hansen Astra jacket shown above. It’s got an insulated body and warm knit arms (with thumbholes!) and a cool neck that can be worn open as a funnel or snapped up like a funnelneck for added warmth. I’m impressed with the versatility; it breaths well on a 55-degree day yet holds in my body heat well enough to do the job over a sweater on a 43-degree evening.

I see that the jacket is nearly sold out at Saks’ clearance sale, so it’s also available at a discounted price in more colors via Amazon (the green rock color is also very nice) and for full price at Nordstrom. The jacket runs true to size but is a close fit across my hips…if you are wider across the hips versus your shoulders I’d recommend sizing up.

Finally, my favorite D’Orsay shoes from Banana Republic have gone on sale with an extra 50% off (no code required) so I picked up a third color. One can never have enough cute pink pumps!

And to think, we haven’t even hit the January clearance sales yet! Have you scoped out any of these after Christmas sales this week? Besides Anthro’s Tag Sale, of course!
