Anthropologie’s December 2015 lookbook and new arrivals

A very Anthropologie winter look. The Overland Sweater Coat ($138) and Embroidered Flannel Tunic ($128).

Anthropologie unveiled its December 2015 lookbook quite early this year! Whether the thought was to get us excited about the holidays, or because perhaps a Gifts lookbook is coming during the month, I’m happy to get an early peek at the newest looks. But…once I started looking at the images I was not very moved. I’m very happy that Anthropologie continues to produce a monthly catalogue but their process in selecting the clothing, locales and poses is a total mystery to me. It’s hard to not feel a little let down by this mishmash especially compared to last year’s tale of 3 sisters.

So instead of focusing on the catalog — which you can see here — let’s talk about some of the fun new arrivals, shall we? Come inside to have a chat…

A mixed-material mix on the sweater dress, the Saone Sweater Dress ($168).
With the Miss Albright Jora Boots ($340).

A chill has hit the air in NYC and most of my time is spent thinking about ways to layer up, wrap up, and snuggle. Of course the heat at my office has other ideas which is why items like the Saone Sweater Dress ($168) interest me. Will a sweater dress with thin sheer sleeves work in real life? I’m headed to the store this week to try it on and find out.

Also in dresses, the short but cute Collared Jacquard Shift ($228) looks promising for work with the right tights and pumps; the Sugared Rose Neoprene Dress ($375) is a longer version of a dress that’s been a hit in both summer and fall (this longer midi version reminds me of Lela Rose); the Lais Dress ($178) is work-ready and has the ideal fit-and-flare shape; the Gathered Jersey Dress ($168) is already on its way to me in sapphire — review upcoming and the Blue Iris Shift ($168) has a beautiful colorblocked floral motif. Of course it very much helps that Anthropologie dresses are 25% off right nowUse the code HURRAH at checkout.

The double-layer trend is still going strong at Anthropologie. I’m most excited about it when I see lace peeking out from underneath as with the Lace-Lined Tunic ($78) above. It’s shown with the Fumiko Silk Kimono ($118). Then there’s the Cabled Ballerina Pullover ($168) which starts with a soft, white cabled sweater and adds sequined tutu-like fabric underneath. I’m undecided on that one — do we like this or hate it? The Layered Cable Pullover ($118) offers a simpler take on the same double-layer idea and looks super-warm.

Speaking of super warm and pretty, I love the Ranstead Cabled Cardigan ($148) with its beautiful scenic sleeve detail, and I love that Anthropologie is also carrying the non-detail sleeve Vienne Cardigan ($128) too! What beautiful cape sweaters, both versions. The Fete Draped Cardigan ($138) looks warm and perfect for the morning after a big party when all I want to do is cozy up to my guy on the couch. The Teni Blouse ($88) shown underneath in the product shot is a lovely red, though the polka-dotted navy really has me thinking.

This is the time of year when Deletta has lots of fun ruched and twisted offerings! The Draped Keyhole Tank ($68) shown above seems to have lots of potential, as does the Twist-Front Tee ($68). Good job on the color options of the latter, Anthro! The Draped Vala Tee ($68) is getting great reviews and I’m both in love with and confused by the Nathalie Peplum Top ($88), so of course I need to try it on!

There are some non-Deletta everyday tops that look soft and appealing, like the wide v-neck of the Ficana Pullover ($58), the cleavage-hinting Sava Henley ($58) and the all-purpose, many color Slubbed Baseball Tee ($58). The At Length Hoodie ($168) looks warm, cuddly and perfect.

Anthropologie has at least one stop-everything pair of shoes for the holidays, could the Lenora Scarpe di Lusso Rita Embellished Heels ($448) be this year’s pair? Super gorgeous! I’m also delighted by the Lien.Do Magdalena Velvet Booties ($158) and the Guilhermina Gala Heels ($198) which I wish had just one review so I knew which size to buy! Being that they’re made in Brazil I might be a 39, or a 40, or perhaps even a 41 if they run small. Gah! $600 is way too much money to drop at once just to ensure I get the right size Anthropologie. Why online-only?

There are also so many fun clutches right now, the Feathered Fete Clutch (now $74) and Lucent Bloom Pouch ($68) among my favorites, that are crying out for the right holiday party to attend! Another adornment I love is the Alphabet Charm Bracelet ($54) which would make a great holiday gift.

What new arrivals have jumped out at you?
