This is my second year teaming up with Dara of dafonteart for this contest. She is incredibly talented! Last year she painted this amazing portrait of my dog, Cinnamon the coolest Shiba Inu ever. I get tons of compliments on the portrait and it’s such a wonder to look at. (I have a copy in my office at work too.)
And this year she was gracious enough to paint a portrait of my BFF M’s evil kitty, Tolstoy, shown at the top of this post. Actually, it’s not that Tolstoy is evil. As a kitten he was a doll! But he’s a city cat and he has to be all tough, so he’s pretty much mean now to everyone except M. We still love him. I love how Dara added little splashes of colored dots on the canvas around kitty, as though to drive home the point that the entire canvas belongs to him. It is the perfect birthday present for M!!
