Eye Candy: Anthropologie at The Grove’s re-opening party

2012-06-23_1028

While out in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the re-opening party for Anthropologie’s store in The Grove. I’d been to the store once before and though I hadn’t found it lacking I must say that the place is just gorgeous now. They’ve really taken advantage of the high ceilings and generous wall space to create an open, airy, forest-like store filled with consumer delights.

The party was open to the public and much more laid-back than the affairs in New York City that I’m used to. I liked the easy-going feeling of it all. The products varied somewhat from my home stores with more emphasis on beachy and outdoors here as opposed to urban and confined like I’m used to. But overall it was still clearly an Anthropologie, with racks and installations in a meandering path that found Carol, Kathryn and I wandering the store for the better part of an hour.

Below are some of the photos I took with a slideshow at the end. LA-area ladies, what do you think of the redesign?

Artist Rebecca Rebouché was in residence the week of the re-opening.
Her artwork was scattered around the store and on the walls,
and the front window was her in-store studio.
On the dress form: Undergrowth Tank ($68), AG Simona ($178),
Mirela Fringe Necklace ($58).

No Anthropologie party is complete without delicious beverages
and Pinterest-worthy cardboard straws.

The store’s high ceilings meant plenty of huge pieces of art
on the walls. The natural formation you see was a mix of rock,
paper, and recycled materials.
On the dress form: Sagiso Blouse ($168) and AG Polka Dot Ankle Stevie ($178).

A mix of real and designed plants lent the air of a tropical forest.
Various wood installations on the wall added to the natural feel.
On the dress form: Netted Meridian Top ($88), Ombre Loom Necklace ($68)
and J Brand Super Skinny Ankle ($198).

I love how the store’s visual team played around with texture
and pattern in the displays. Here in foreground is the
Sweet Enticement Dress ($118) and the Melora Dress ($118)
while in the background is the Netted Meridian Top ($88)
and the  J Brand Super Skinny Ankle ($198) from the photo above.

Hanging artwork that mimics a tree or perhaps the festive lights
you might see adorning one.
On the right dress form: Elixir Loop Top ($78),  Wooden Pennant Necklace ($48),
Baripada Necklace ($68) and Pointed Cressida Crops ($128).

The new shoe display is an enticing mix of 3D shelves
both inward and outward.
In the foreground: Ikia Platforms ($268).
In the background: Mixed Media Heels ($148).

My attempts to spell out “roxy” with the Monogrammed Mug ($6) were foiled by no x.
This is as close as I got.
