My recent travel exploits have left me pretty far behind on reviews. I didn’t realize just how far behind I was until a bunch of tops I’d yet to review moved to sale. So although these reviews may not be as helpful as if these tops were new I hope they still help. I know many in the community wait for second or third cuts and most of these tops are still available on the website, and I’ve seen them all in stores this week.
The Atzi Blouse (now $50) has a very similar sibling in the Pierced Mint Blouse ($128). I was on the hunt for the latter just before my trip to Hawaii. I couldn’t find it in stores so I settled on the Atzi. This top is very cute. It’s light, semi-sheer cotton with a mix of eyelet and mesh panels. It’s also super boxy and pretty cropped so you’ll want to layer something beneath it. Capped sleeves aren’t usually my friend but they work on this top because of the shorter proportions.
The boxy nature of the top meant my usual size 6 fit fine. During the lazy hazy summer days this top will see plenty of use on the weekends. It’s got buttons all the way up the back but I put it on pullover style. This top doesn’t wrinkle during daily wear but it came out of the wash very wrinkled, and it shrank just a skosh. I’m still hoping to see its longer cousin in-store, but for now the Atzi Blouse has been a great top! I wore this shirt constantly while on vacation, OOTD shot at the bottom of a recent crop of Reader’s Outfits.
The Magnetic Fields Tee (now $40) blows my mind, but not in a good way. When I saw this top online I loved the bold mix of colors and what I thought was an equally delectable mix of materials and textures. Cotton, lace and silk together? Cool! Or so I thought. In-store I was shocked to find that what looks like lace and maybe silk on the top is all just a print on spandex and polyester. Cue the sad trombone. I suppose that if you love the idea of a multitextured shirt but desire the ease of machine washing, this is a terrific option. I’d rather have the real thing. Even weirder, this top looks like it has a loose flared bottom online but in real life I didn’t find that to be the case at all.
Sizing-wise I fell between a medium and a large. The large was too loose under the arms and around the neckline but the medium was pretty tight. The spandex will help loosen this over the course of the day so I think you’re safe to stick with your true size. Note that the top is pretty thin. I couldn’t see my bra through it but I would recommend sticking with nude or skintone undergarments. Kudos to the designer on one front; I had to check my notes several times to make sure it wasn’t really lace on this top. It sure looks like it from far away!
Chambray has taken retailers by storm recently. I’ve seen lots of options and the Swingy Chambray Tunic ($88) is by far my favorite. I love the reddish-pink touches on the placket and the tab sleeve. I love the tuxedo pintucks down the front. I love the side tabs. And I love, love, love the back seaming which keeps this from behind chambray maternity. Shape is great!
I initially tried on a size 8, thinking I’d need the extra room for hips. You see the 8 on me above. It turned out to be pretty loose so I purchased this in my usual size 6. The sleeves hit right in the fold of my elbow which is a bit annoying but that’s my only complaint. This top looks great under a blazer or sweater, or tucked into a skirt, or just fine on its own. The chambray is thin but not see-through and has no itch factor. Buttons down the front are cute as, well, you know. Although the Revolved Blooms Blouse (now $40) is very similar to its sister top above, it has enough differences to warrant its own review. Also by Postmark, this top has the same banded hem, same scoop neck and same mesh panels on the sleeve. It’s in the same soft material too. But this top’s sleeves are set differently — they’re shorter and gently pleated versus the straighter sleeve of the Framed-Sleeve Top above.
I tried on a medium and found it to fit looser than the Framed-Sleeve Top, go figure. The pattern on this top drives me nuts! It’s so sharp that my eyes end up blurring it all together and it kind of gives me a headache. I don’t like the way the sleeves fall on this top. Notice how the mesh panels come further up onto the shoulder? It ends up making my broad shoulders look droopy. That’s an accomplishment. This top is cute but likely a pass.
I was looking for a casual, slouchy striped shirt to wear around Paris and Anthropologie somehow came through for me. The Side-Swept Frill V-Neck (now $35) had me saying ooh la la! Stripes go this way and that around the shirt. I love the way the stripes meet diagonally on the shoulders. I like the ruching on one side and I am cool with the slouchiness. The wide v-neck is a nice touch too. Linen makes this top scratchy as all heck, notching a star down on the review.
I initially tried on a medium but found this top to run small. The medium would be fine if I wasn’t looking looking to go too slouchy, but I wanted more room. Sizing up to a large achieved the look I was going for. (The large is on me above.)

…and here it is on me back in March as my BFF M and I were on our way to Notre Dame. The top does slide up a bit I found, you’ll note I have a tank top on underneath.
The top also comes in a solid (well, heathered) version that got its own style number. I don’t know why Anthropologie has started separating out motifs and solids into separate product pages. The top has the identical fit but is sheer. I was wearing a black bra on this day, so you’re only getting a side shot. But the fit is just like it’s striped sister so refer to that above for further guidance. I’ve washed this top on the gentle cycle and it’s held up fine. I air dried it.
