Reviews: Glittering Plume Tank, Cold Crop Blouse, Floralia Tee, Colossal Violas Tee, Float Above Blouse, Olympian Entry Tee, Wind-Tossed Top

Just when I think I’m over glittery, embellished tanks, along comes Yoana Baraschi’s Glittering Plume Tank ($88) and I’m in love all over again. The feather is a mix of sequins and sparkly thread that look beautiful over this greyish-green tank. It’s slightly longer in the back and has trailing seams at either side. Pretty shape. It is dry-clean only so buyer be aware.

I sized down to a small which worked out great. This brand tends to run large. The viscose top feels slippery but comfortable against the skin and I quickly imagined myself wearing it both now (under something) and later when it’s warm again. Spring seems very far away but this top is wishlisted now.

Anthropologie pushed the Cold Crop Blouse (now $30) to sale before I had a chance to run my review. This Floreat top didn’t get much attention but it’s very cute in real life. It’s also very sheer. No attempt at opaque here and no lining tank included either so you’re on your own unless you’re going for that oh so chic not-hiding-anything look.

The product shot for this blue motif version doesn’t make it clear that there’s a necktie on this top. It’s cute. My main concern was how the seam would look over my hips. It looks OK. With a blazer or cardigan on top I think this tank would look great. It might be worth it if you were considering this top. I tried on my usual size medium but it was pretty big. I’d size down to a small to buy. Pass for me.

The Floralia Tee ($78) by C. Keer was hiding in a table nook. When I reached for it I only saw the shoulders which look beautiful with their little blue flowers crawling every which way. It wasn’t until I got to the fitting room that I saw this top had a whole lot more going on. A paisley bottom, lines of lace and an asymmetric hem add up to a lot of look.

My usual size medium felt loose but I would stick to this size. The shirt is nice and soft and pretty casual. The triangle of lacey lines did me no favors and I felt wide. Not the look I am aiming for so this top is a pass.

Velvet’s aptly named Colossal Violas Tee ($68) has a large, splashy print that immediately reminded me of the kind of abstract art I created in school. One big splotch of something or other and lots of other splotches around it. Struck by a bit of nostalgia I decided to try it on.

The medium was body-hugging. It’s a nice, long tunic with a rolled neck. Haven’t seen rolled necks in awhile! There’s also a seam right in the bustline that creates ruching. I didn’t like it. I felt comfortable in the top but I know it was too tight so I’d size up to a large to buy. If you have a trendier job you could throw a blazer over this and be done. Another pass for me.

Jet-setters and warm-weather dwellers, this one’s for you. Yoana Baraschi’s beautiful Float Above Blouse ($148) has all the elements of a great beach town top: an airy feel, a light but vibrant color and some kind of pretty embellishment. I was immediately smitten. The top comes in a coral pink or this minty toothpaste green I tried on.

My usual size 6 was perfect. It’s hard to translate the sheen of this top in photos but it had a lovely, light shimmer to it in real life. It’s somewhat sheer so be sure to layer a tank underneath but otherwise I have no complaints. This top is just everything that’s lovely. Want it! Wishlisted.

If you need a white tee in winter, I highly recommend one.september’s Olympian Entry Tee ($78). The name of this top is derived from the ancient-looking pattern that populates the middle third. It’s made of a thicker white jersey that is somewhat sheer, though you might be able to get away with just a nude bra underneath.

I tried on a medium which was HUGE. You’ll definitely want to size down here. On the other hand if you’re looking for maternity wear this will fit the bill. I like tops with softer, flowy fronts like this. Easy to throw a cardigan over it and be done with your look. It’s really the comfort that got me here. Wishlisted, but waiting for sale.

I usually cringe when I see an item was made by Girls From Savoy. The fit has been so off with this brand. When a SA brought me the Wind-Tossed Tee ($98) to try on, I pushed my fear into the back of my mind and tried it on. Lo and behold it was very nice on!

My usual size 6 fit great but was short as evidenced by my layering cami peeking out from underneath. This top has what looks like the beginning of an Ikat print and two layers of ruffles along the neckline. It’s a pullover top so no side or back zip. This was no issue for me as it slipped on easily. OK, GFS, you got me. Wishlisted!
