I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.
This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be!
Some FAQs….
– What does “sub” mean?
It means that people are subscribing to the comment thread. You can do this by checking the “send follow-up comments to x email address” box in the comment form.
– Someone in the comments said they wanted to buy an item from me, but it’s been x hours and I haven’t heard squat. What should I do?
I give people 24 hours for the benefit of the doubt. After that move on to the next person that contacted you.
– Someone said they returned an item at the store 20 minutes ago but I just called the store and it’s gone. What gives?!?
A store associate might have taken a fancy to it or a customer might have grabbed it. Maybe it’s just at the bottom of a big ol’pile. Unfortunately, you’re out of luck.

I was meandering around Marshall's today, and noticed that they had a plethora of Chie Mihara shoes available! For example, the Plaited Strands are now on sale for $199 at Anthro, but are $99.99 in Marshall's. They also had a lot of older styles that are sold out at Anthro. Just a heads up for everyone!

Anon @ 4:28 – what about throwing it over a cute dress? From Anthro's current stock I like it over the Vappu Dress, the Secret Treasure Dress or the Graphical Dress. You could do either colorway of any of those dresses.
Brittany, At the austin anthro they had a Tesserae Dress yesterday. It was a size 2 and marked down for 9.99. At that price I would be surprised if it was still there today, but it wouldnt hurt to call.

Question: has anyone ever had a charge/send shipped to them without a receipt in the box? I was sent the wrong sweater and am now really bummed because there was no receipt in the box too. It was sent from another state and in my experience thsee charge/send purchases don't show up my Anthro purchase history. How can I return or exchange this without a receipt without looking like a skeezy shoplifter? Anyone have this happen to them?
I have a similar question.I received the Parted Petals cardigan from the Towson, MD store and it has a slight stain on it. It looks like there's a circular stain, like the bottom of a bottle on one side. I noticed it when I tried it on right out of the box. Can I take it into my local anthro and see if I can get a PA for a damaged item? I know I can't really prove it and it's hard to fine. I should probably just get it dry cleaned, right?
Diana Drew – this happened to me 2 weeks ago! And the worst part was that I paid with a gift card. Call the store who sent you the wrong thing and they can retrieve the receipt. You may have to mailit back to them an they should refund you the shipping. Good luck!

Diana, this has happened to me, too. I called the store, and they were able to find the transaction on my Anthro. card and send a receipt. If that doesn't work for you because you used a gift card I'm sure they'll find another way to help you once you explain the situation. After all, you do have the box and everything–maybe just mailing it back to the store will help?

DEA, there was one size 0 white blue book blouse at the Greenwich, Connecticut store as of closing yesterday at 8 pm. I remember because I considered it for a while but didn't try it on as a I limited times and lots of dresses:) good luck!
Dorothy – I'm really shocked that they would send you a damaged product without warning you about it over the phone! I hope that this was just an oversight on the part of the SA and not someone intentionally selling you a damaged product. It really ruins the trust that we all have when we charge-send items over the phone.While I can't offer helpful advice, I was actually wondering if you could tell me how long it took you to receive your item from the Towson Town Center store.The reason that I ask is because I ordered a Two Paths Trench from that store last Saturday and I still haven't received it. I'm a little worried because the SAs seemed really disorganized and overwhelmed. It took me 6 phone calls before they finally said that they would put it in the mail. In the meantime, they managed to lose track of the coat twice (even though it was supposedly on hold for me) and they entered my credit card info incorrectly (twice) and called to tell me that my credit card had been declined!In short, I'm starting to get a little worried that it was never actually shipped… I hope that our stories aren't typical for charge-sends from the Towson store. Has anyone else had bad experiences with Towson?

Lola: I ordered a dress from Towson back in March. I'm in California and after a week and half I called the store to see where my dress was. I ordered a sweater the same time from a NYC store and it arrived very promptly. When I called Towson they said they had no record of my name or transaction even though my card had been charged. I disputed charges with credit card company. About a week later, the dress showed up at my door. It turns out they misspelled my last name. It was kind of annoying and having to call both the store and credit card company kinda sucked. Good luck and I hope your trench shows up.
Lola, the SA was really busy when I called too but I got the sweater in two days! I'd call them to check. I'm in NYC so not too far from MD but I was surprised by how fast it came. Just disappointed with the slight stain. It's not such a big deal – I didn't even notice until I put it on – but I was annoyed. I'll probably just get it dry cleaned and hope for the best.

Lyzi – Haha, tell me about it! I'm in the Hanover/Lebanon area, so going to an Anthro store involves a two-hour drive to Boston. I keep not-so-subtly suggesting that they build a store in NH or VT whenever I get the opportunity, but I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon 🙁
Dorothy-I can't believe that Towson would send you that cardigan. Towson is my local store and I went to buy it on Tuesday, but I noticed the stain on the side that appeared to be from the sensor. I told an SA about it but she insisted that it would come out if I washed it. I just can't believe that they wouldn't tell you about it when you ordered it since they clearly knew.

My experience with SA's in terms of charge-send purchases has not been good…it's almost like they send the items that they know look bedraggled, or know that someone might complain about. Anon at 3:15 AM:Yes you can return a charge send item to another store, I've done it before.
On charge sends…it's often a no-win situation for the SA. A lot of times you're calling in the hopes of finding 1 of an item left on the floor. That's a challenge even in the best organized Anthros. Of course we'd hope that an item in not-so-great condition gets pulled, but if they're in between inventory counts or don't realize the item isn't in tip-top shape it might still be out on the racks. I agree that it would be nice if SAs inspected the item and if they noticed something off let you know so you could decide whether to move forward or not.Not that anyone here would do this, but a friend of mine who is an SA recently told me about a customer who yelled at her because she couldn't find the item they'd called in about. They said some terrible things — over an item of clothing! Another friend who is also an SA put it to me this way: she decided it was better to tell a customer that she couldn't find the item if there was only one of an item left and it looked really bad than set the customer up for disappointment. The long-winded point I'm trying to make is just remember there are two sides to every coin. SAs ultimately want you to be happy so you continue shopping at Anthro.
Mandi, it definitely looks like a sensor mark. I couldn't figure out what it was until you said that. I don't know if I should wash the sweater though. I went through too much trouble to get it to have it shrink or something. Lame. I did get the Fragrant Valley Dress through a charge send from CA and it was a great experience. It's sad to know it isn't always.Meg, the XS is perfect for me. I don't think I'd ever be buttoning it all the way, but it does button and while it's short, I have a short torso so it's fine. It also was bunching out weirdly in the S but not with this one. I'm really happy I went with it! How's the S?
PS Roxy, you make a great point. While I don't love that there's a mark on my sweater, the girl at Towson was so nice and I received the sweater within two days! It worked really well. And I'm happy with the fit, so all in all a good experience. I just hope the mark comes out!

Just came from the Towson, MD Anthro, what a difference 5 days make. The sale section was expanded. Saw several Fragrant Valley Dresses, Quarry Lake Dresses, a Lime Juice Dress, and an Around the World Dress, didn't get sizes though. Had Beda dresses in both white and green plus lots of new arrivals in dresses. There were also a few gray Prarie Rose Cardigans on the sale rack.

I just got off the phone with the store manager at the Towson store and she was such a sweetheart! I explained my whole situation with the Two Paths Trench and it turned out that the coat never got sent because the SA that I spoke with last week had misspelled part of my billing address, so the credit card charge didn't go through. Fortunately, they never put the coat back out on the floor, so they're going to mail it to me now. The manager was so apologetic about what happened that she even took 20% off of the cost and is shipping it to me overnight!Anyway, I just wanted to share the happy ending to my story. I'm so glad that all of you convinced me to call. Thanks again for the advice 🙂

As of around 8PM last night, Durham, NC had: A few full price Beda dresses, in white and green. I think there was a 2 and an 8 in the white, and know I saw a 2 in the green and maybe a few larger sizes. One blue book blouse, don't remember size because it was way too big for me to try on (sob), but it might have been an 8 or a 10? Two paths trench in 12 and 14. That's all I remember, but hope it helps someone!

I returned a size 6 Fragrant Valley Dress to the Princeton NJ store last evening around 6pm. I posted last night via my Iphone, but don't see it here, so the repost. I loved the dress and even loved it more on sale, but couldn't justify having no wear to wear it besides work. We are business casual at work and while I wear what I want and am usually overdressed :-), this would have been too much. There will be other pretty dresses.Hope this helps someone!
BTW: I saw several Bougaenvilla cardi's and the white Spilling Ruffles cardi at the Princeton NJ store in the sale room. They had a few in several sizes.They also had 1-2 white and many grey Swift Current Cardi as well in several sizes. I think I got the only M though.Happy Hunting!

What about half sizes for the flaxen wedges? If you are 6.5 would a 7 fit?
I actually have the flaxen wedges and usually wear a 6.5 but the 7's fit me in this particular shoe. Just a little bit of room. But, you can adjust the straps at the top. Hope this helps!-Michelle

Just back from the Boston Back Bay store. I'm new to Anthro so wouldn't have recognized most of what I was looking at, but here's my best guess. There were a decent # of Bougainvillea cardigans, XS-S-M, but it's hard to say for sure what they'd have now because lots of people were grabbing them to try on — there could well have been an XL waiting to be put back out. 2 Plaza cardigans in the oatmeal-ish color. A couple of Spilling Ruffles cardigans in lilac. Also two Nearly Gossamer cardigans in Ivory (M, I think?) and a couple of Covered-in-Cables cardis. I think also the Petal Tart cardigan, and several of the Haze & Glow cardigan. A Twirling Peony top in size 6. Lots of Courtship Blooms tanks, mostly gray and navy, and Lunar Eclipse Tops. One Tree Poppy Tank, one Topstitch Tank (M). There were several of an eyelet top that may look like the Eyelet Dahlia blouse; also a number of what I think was the On & Off Hours blouse. I hope I got them right — my apologies if I made any mistakes!
I am returning a Fiber Optics size 12 dress to the San FRancisco store. Bought on sale for $99.95 shipped from another store. I adore the colors and silk but it is too short and I couldn't figure out a good layering technique. I could put it on hold when I return it if anyone is looking for this….

Anna you can try doing a charge send from the Canadian stores. If they have it in stock they will take phone orders. I've been able to get a number of items that way.

Nikki, calling the manager about shipping is up to you. did you call in the charge send or did a store do it for you? As far as I know, there is no rule regarding "500 miles." Charging for shipping for charge sends seems to be fairly inconsistent, however as a former employee, the only rule the stores in our city had was if the order was phone in directly by a customer or another store. Customer – shipping had to be charged, or store (or online/catalog) – shipping was waived. Now, Roxy did remind me last week that if the person lived within 100 miles, shipping had to be charged (because the customer could reasonably pick up the item. I don't agree, but that was the policy)

I just hung up with customer service and had a wonderful experience! I was looking for a belt that is sold out online but still in a few stores. After they confirmed that it should be available, they said they would find the belt and have it shipped to me, no shipping charge. Really?! Is this the norm? I have had to call around to stores before on my own and was charged shipping, so I am only happy to let CS do it for me for free!Off to write a happy email to Anthropologie . . .
^ CS does the charge send for you if *I think* over a certain number of stores carry the item and/or(?) there are many of the item in stock in stores. I love it when that happens as it saves a lot of effort on my part, but sometimes it may take a few days for a store to come forward and find it.
CS does "charge and send" for items if there are at least three stores carrying the items. They will ship it for free. The only downside is that it will take them 24-72 hours to confirm that they found your item. For "hot" sale items, sometimes it's better to call the store directly.
MEG: let me know about the fit of the small sweater when you get it!

HI Megan – If I find something in my size on popback, I just call CS and ask them what the price of that item is in stores. Then they look it up, in this case they said $9.95. If there are at least 3 of an item showing up in stores at that price, they will adjust it for you while you are on the phone. She then took down my cc info and charged me the $9.95. Pretty easy, you just take more of a chance of losing the item to someone else since it will take about 5 min. for the whole process. IT's worth saving $50 though! Hope this helps!!!

Just got my charge send dress – it says "over 100 miles = 0.00 shipping," so maybe that explains things? I am sad to note that my dress is missing the zipper pull!! I tried using a twist tie to get the zipper up, but a friend suggested a small paper clip, so I will try that. The zipper does work, there's just no pull, so I can't get it all the way up. A zipper pull seems like that might be something I could get at a fabric store. Still, I'm disappointed!! You think I should call the Seattle store, where the dress came from, or my local store? *sniffle*

Meg, I didn't really try to get it out yet. If I can't do it on my own, the dry cleaners should be able to get it out. It isn't super noticeable and I've already gotten lots of compliments from wearing it twice!
