Playing the Sale guessing game

***Still tallying up the contest results!***

Ah, it’s Monday night and you know what that means — time to guess which items will go on sale tomorrow. Usually I’m pretty on top of this game but I honestly have no clue what tomorrow will bring. I hear that a big sale is coming up…but is that tomorrow? Or later on in April? I sure don’t know but I am excited for whenever it comes! Can’t say for sure which items will and won’t make it so I thought it would be fun to take some educated guesses. This post is no guarantee that any of these items will actually be on sale come tomorrow. What are you hoping to see? What do you think will/won’t go on sale?

I have a feeling the covered in cables cardi isn't hitting sale soon, since it was just released in cream color. I want it so bad, but with summer coming soon, I have given up hope.Stefanie

Oh wouldn't it be wonderful to have a big sale hurrah to send us Anthro-heads off with since it is also the last days for the shipping/no min offer? Though I'm really making an attempt to cut my spending on non-essential items – ugh.

  10. March 29, 2010 / 8:44 pm

i hope there is a sale tomorrow so i can actually take advantage of FREEEE shipping before it expires!

  11. March 29, 2010 / 8:45 pm

@Lauren S. Oh I hope, I hope the New York, New York dress goes on sale soon! It started selling out online and everywhere, so I caved an bought it this past weekend with the hope that I might be able to get a price adjustment. Otherwise I don't know if I can keep it 🙁

  12. March 29, 2010 / 8:47 pm

I agree that the Covered in Cables cardigan won't go on sale since it was just released in a new color last week.I also doubt the Speckled Ink dress will go on sale since it is currently backordered and a recent email made it seem like it was going to be released in a new color.sugarandspiceandnice.blogspot.com

the new york, new york dress is super gorgeous and already sold out in canada. i'd be surprised if anthro puts such a popular dress on sale so soon, it's relatively new.

  16. March 29, 2010 / 8:54 pm

oh… if there is a sale fairy out there, please oh please put those two dresses i want on sale tomorrow so i can take advantage of the free shipping… my wallet can't afford both at reg. price and i simply can't choose between the two!!!!!!

  20. March 29, 2010 / 9:18 pm

I would squeal if the tonal gingham dress went on sale. I am not holding my breathe, but a girl can wish.

  21. March 29, 2010 / 9:20 pm

I am hoping the vanilla bean top, the all season shirtdress and the fifth form shift since I caved and bought them last week since my size is dwindling online and they were the last ones in my store!!

I am hoping the vanilla bean top, the all season shirtdress and the fifth form shift since I caved and bought them last week since my size is dwindling online and they were the last ones in my store!!

  23. March 29, 2010 / 9:24 pm

Sigh, on my personal wishlist are the Solar Star Blouse, the All Seasons Shirtdress, the New York, New York Dress, the Speckled Ink Dress and the Reed Shirtdress. All, except the Reed perhaps — which will probably stay full price forever, bah — are somewhat realistic wishes *I* think Anthro since they've been since January, so please oblige! Also wouldn't mind a second cut on the Tassel Fronds Dress. Just saying 🙂

  24. March 29, 2010 / 9:28 pm

Hoping for the Around the World and Wright dresses (will need to make lots of phone calls to find one in my size since no longer online) and the Shoofly trench which just keeps taunting me 🙂 On second thoughts, it might be better if they did not go on sale yet, so that in April I can at least use my birthday discount on them as well. 🙂

  30. March 29, 2010 / 9:54 pm

I'm going to go ahead and guess there will be a pretty big sale tomorrow for two reasons:a) new arrivals should start hitting the web tomorrow in anticipation for the April Catalogb) Wed is the last day of free shipping to Anthro cardholders 🙂

  31. March 29, 2010 / 9:57 pm

I just bought the beribboned cardi last night online! Can I get a price adjustment if I just bought it and it hasn't shipped yet?!

  32. March 29, 2010 / 10:03 pm

Nicole, the same thing happened to me last week with the Saturation Point Heels. I called within 24 hours of placing the order, and they said no problem, but it would just take a few days for the adjustment to show up on my card.

  33. March 29, 2010 / 10:08 pm

Nicole–I believe you can get a price adjustment on any item that goes on sale within two weeks of your purchase date : -)Anthropologie has the best taking-care-of-customers policies!I find I am willing to shop a lot more when I know they've got my bases covered for me…maybe that's their strategy! Oh well, works for me!

  34. March 29, 2010 / 10:08 pm

  37. March 29, 2010 / 10:23 pm

Lauren, what a cute dress that is! I also love modcloth's description–they have some great writers.

  42. March 29, 2010 / 10:41 pm

Lauren S. – Seriously! When I saw it earlier, I thought that it was definitely similar to the Manisa dress, but when I googled Anthro's dress, I realized that it is almost a carbon copy…although it looks a bit shorter and a bit lighter.I remember when the Manisa dress first came in…late November / Early December and then I heard the PRICE! I couldn't believe such a lightweight colorful dress was being sold around the holidays and at such a high price! I think Modcloth has the right idea releasing this now.Sorry Roxy if this is too off-topic, but I know alot of people are asking every few days trying to find the Manisa dress on a second cut. So I thought this might be helpful!

  43. March 29, 2010 / 10:45 pm

Okay, this is my chance to snatch a plaza cardigan! I will be doing the sale dance for that and for the reed dress! I am studying for my MCAT right now and this post is not helping me focus! 🙂 Hehe. True story.

I knew someone here would bring up that ModCloth dress. It's definitely the same pattern and same colours as the Manisa dress making it nearly identical. The length and fabric (and probably the quality) seem to be the only major difference. I don't quite know how I feel about that. I love ModCloth but it does kind of rub me the wrong way to see a cheap knockoff of one of my dresses.

  53. March 29, 2010 / 11:57 pm

FYI I just called customer service about returning the Reed Shirtdress to make sure I would get my full refund if I returned it tomorrow & it went on sale (I ordered it over a month ago & have been putting it off). She never confirmed that it would actually go on sale, but she checked their policy as if it would. I don't know if CS even knows what will be marked down ahead of time, but this could be a hint!

Sale dance for the Lift-Off Jacket. Yes, I know, loooooooooong shot, but I just bought it yesterday after hunting for awhile (thank you return rack!) and I would LOVE a price adjustment so I can turn around and spend that on some new arrivals!!I'm with everyone else, don't think covered in cables will hit the sale. Why did they release that in cream? It is not a summer weight cardi . . . . where was that back in November??Let's hope for a good sale as we count down our last days of free shipping!

  57. March 30, 2010 / 12:31 am

@ K. Mel- I scored that same jacket a couple of weeks ago at that amazing price! I actually took the orange colored leather jacket in for a price adjustment and the SA said that they had just gotten a return of the black one. I ended up with both jackets for less than the original price of 1! Gotta love a good sale!

  58. March 30, 2010 / 12:54 am

SA was bummed as well since there were none last week either except for those 10 or so items last friday. Maybe she was wrong. Hoping so bc I was hoping for a PA on the On A Wing top which is stunningly beautiful. I finally figured out the thing to do was size up on this top as that solves the button problem. I just unbutton 4 middle ones and slip it over my head. The other upside to a bigger size is it solves the problem that the lining is too short. There is a ton of fabric up top but you just have to steam it out and then play with the folds of the fabric.

Maybe no sale BECAUSE of the free shipping? I've definitely purchased / returned way more than I would have had there been no free shipping. Also, I've noticed that some of the SAs have been a lot crankier than normal about in-store returns. I had such a negative experience with one that I picked up all of my stuff mid-processing and left the store. I called CS when I got home, crying, and they told me to ship it back to them on their dime. I LOVE Anthro CS.

  84. Anonymous
    March 30, 2010 / 2:40 pm

wow, anon @ 10:00… really? A return experience so bad that you were crying over it? What happened? I'm sure it's frustrating for the SA's to get so many online returns that deduct from their store earnings for the day, but what could have been so bad about your experience? On a separate note, my wallet is relieved and letting out a big sigh from no sales this morn!

  85. March 30, 2010 / 3:03 pm

That's terrible Anon, I'm so sorry. That sounds awful. How nice of CS to take accountability and say to ship it back to them for free though. I too have had really bad experiences in the last month with in store SAs giving me a stink-eye about returns, though not as bad as yours. Two separate SAs (at two separate stores) have been very passive aggressive during my last returns, asking me snippily if anything "was actually wrong with the items," making audible sighing sounds, replying monosyllabically to my explanation or attempt to engage them in conversation. It made me feel very guilty and very awful, even though in truth, I truly feel like I order SO much from Anthro regularly every couple weeks (not even counting how much I encourage other people to buy!) and have been doing so for years now, so that I should be entitled to return what doesn't work for me without any guilt now. I do return a lot more than I used to, but that is because my all-Anthro closet is on the verge of exploding and I have to be a lot choosier about what can stay among my online orders and I force myself to return stuff that's been sitting unworn too long. Anyhow, it's really bad, I have avoided placing orders for several things I otherwise probably would have bought online because inside I dread having to encounter the SAs again if I need to return them. I have something to return right now (a top I found that already had deodorant stains on it when I went to wear it, ewww) but I honestly am avoiding doing it until I have a chance to go to the far away SF store because I have no desire to engender more apparent bad will at my local stores. It sucks that online returns in-store take away from the stores earnings, I do feel bad for the SAs, but that is not the customer's fault. I think that is something that Anthropologie needs to change about its system in order to get rid of this attitude from their employees.

  86. March 30, 2010 / 3:09 pm

i have a bunch of returns to make from orders online this past month. truth is, i can almost never make it out to the store lately. I also dislike how the SA's act and thats why I will even return to other Anthro's nearby that I don't frequently visit or buy from. They'll see me as a return but thats it. My regular store SA's won't give attitude or mutter things when they see me.I used to work retail and our store did the same thing. We knew all of our regular customers and we knew when our numbers would crash because of returns.

  89. March 30, 2010 / 3:50 pm

I've run into the snippy sales associates on several returns recently. And I am frustrated. I can't really afford full price Anthro – so I am a sales rack stalker and often end up ordering very random things, when they become available in my price range. I.E. Last week was able to purchase the Cathedral Arches Dress for $29.00 (as opposed to the original $248 price tag) – alas it didn't fit right and I've had to return it. I can't imagine I deserve the attitude for returning at $29.00 purchase, that someone is going to snatch up at a deal breaker price. I've never worked retail, so I'm sure I don't understand the ins and outs of the system – but griping at customers for making returns of online merchandise, just seems rude, uncalled for and is a sure way to lose costumers.

  90. March 30, 2010 / 4:06 pm

Just_erin:it's because the stores sales number drops regardless of how much merchandise that store actually sells. For example, where I worked, someone could buy a couple of items online, but they amounted to about $600 in sales. If they return those sales in the morning, that puts the store into negative sales numbers. Stores have to call in their numbers a couple of times a day (or my store did) so corporate kept track. When numbers don't look good, it affects the store. I found out this past year my old store I worked at actually closed. (And this is a popular retail store at lots of malls). I understand why SA's get a little snippy, BUT they should keep it to themselves and continue to be nice/friendly/helpful SA's. It's their job.

  91. March 30, 2010 / 4:40 pm

I return most of what I order online, and get price adjustments on most of what I end up keeping when they get marked down further. Who cares what the person helping you thinks? As long as you are following the store policy, then you don't have to worry about doing anything wrong.

  92. March 30, 2010 / 4:46 pm

Also adding that a few times the manager was bitchy to me when doing a return/price adjustment and gave me a lecture on how it hurts the store. I was turned off to say the least, and found it totally out of line. Now I do all of my shopping online and return whatever doesn't work to my local store. While I'm there, I might check out the sale section or try some things on to get an idea of sizing, but I'd rather give my $ to the online site which has impeccable customer service than help out someone who was rude to me. It really isn't appropriate for an SA to be rude, and usually isn't to their advantage, either.

  93. March 30, 2010 / 5:33 pm

Wow ladies! I am disgusted to hear about the treatment you are receiving when returning items. For the most part SAs are quite nice to me. I'm sure it's because I buy something almost every week at the store, especially Soho.A couple of months ago I had an issue at 5th Ave returning something, and though this is probably not the most mature response I gave her the attitude right back. And if it became a habit I would stop shopping at the store altogether. I'm sure it has to do with returns. I can tell you from retail experience (not Anthro) that we dreaded the free shipping promos because we knew our store numbers were going to get killed. But that's not license to treat customers like crap. 🙁

  94. March 30, 2010 / 5:52 pm

wow! this is really eye-opening to learn that store numbers are affected by my online returns. and it makes no sense to me…why doesn't it just go back to online numbers? Is it because the store keeps it in stock instead? i've been dreading my returns as well, but not because the SAs here have been unprofessional. they're just not as chatty and joyful as when i buy full-priced item 😛 And I guess that's fine, it's part of marketing? There's just one lady that's been doing my returns, I think one of the store managers, but she hasn't done any of my purchases. I almost want to get her this week so she'll know I don't just return stuff! :DAnd this is seriously making me want to save my returns for another store 😛

My "local" Anthro is an hour away, and I also will drive to another that is an hour and a half away. I almost always have online returns, as that is how I do most of my shopping. Of course I always shop while I'm there as well. I've never had any problem with a return. The SAs have always been lovely to me, and sometimes I have very large returns. On the other hand, I may never shop at J Crew again. I've had several sizing issues with online purchases. (Also no J Crew in town.) Some items were clearly miss-marked or did not agree with their sizing charts (like a hat that I could barely pull onto my head!) Because of these sizing issues, when placing my most recent final sale order I called to ask about the sizing before ordering. I was told by CS that one item ran TTS and that I might want to size up in the other when my instinct was to size down. I ordered my normal size med in both and both were too large, one ridiculously so (Washed Silk Pocket T.)After several calls and a lot of attitude, I was able to return these items, but was told I would never be extended that courtesy again. I think I will never extend them the courtesy of being their customer again. The problem wasn't with the SAs–who agreed that the shirt was probably an XL that was tagged as a M. They were very courteous and professional. It is JC's return policy and their phone CS.

I've also been having bad experiences at Anthro stores. I usually go to Anthro about every couple weeks since I don't live close to one and I tend to return online items when I go to the store. Also when I make returns I also buy stuff in store. Lately I've been dreading going in because of the SAs' attitudes. I starting to feel horrible when I have to go in now even if I'm not returning. I never get that attitude at Nordstrom. I order a lot of stuff from Anthro I don't want to feel bad returning things that don't work for me. Even if the returns eats the stores' profit it's not the customer's fault, maybe Anthro should fix that policy with the stores like reimbursing them for processing the returns.

  97. March 30, 2010 / 6:45 pm

I don't know if anyone else has encountered this yet– but I have noticed that, although customer service is very friendly when I am calling to locate an item that is sold out on the website, when they give me a list of stores to call and I call, the SA's who have to look for the item in the store are very irritated and annoyed.I am moving to Russia and I have been going nuts searching for cold weather clothes now since it is past the season. I feel like explaining that to every SA that gives me a "tsk" on the phone! I don't know why they get so snippy about this. Has anyone else experienced that?

  98. March 30, 2010 / 6:50 pm

When it comes to calling stores, I always err on the side of being overly polite. I try to call at non-busy hours (first thing in the morning) but sometimes I can tell that the store is busy when I call. A lot of times the frustration from SAs is because there is no easy way for them to tell whether they have an item or not, in the proper size, etc.

Interesting to read that I am not alone with my 'dread' of returning items to my local store. I am there normally once a week to browse or pick something up, but whenever I have something to return, I tend to save it all up for when I will be making an out of town visit, so I can return it to another store. The SA's attitudes have been just really bad. But I never associated that with store numbers. I always figured it was because they had to look up the sku, find the price, re-tag it, etc. (especially for on-line orders) and it was all this extra work I was giving them that was so annoying to them. Maybe Anthropologie can organize some 'customer service' training for their employees! LOL!!

I don't live near a store……buy most stuff from online. But there are few times I had to send things back to the store where I did a charge and send. I don't know what their reaction is but I guess I better think twice and know that I really want it before doing the charge and send. So, how many of you think there will be a sale tomorrow?

Wow – I am Anon @ 10:00 am and while I am glad I'm not the only one who feels intimidated while returning items, it also helped to learn that the stores sales are hurt by returns. That said – good customer service is good customer service and it costs more money to make a new customer than it does to retain an old one. I do 50% of my Anthro shopping online because I'm really busy and don't always have time to run to my home Anthro. I also spend, on average, $800 a month at Anthro (I'd spend even more if they went up to size 11 in all their shoes!).So last week, I happened to have a free hour at lunch and I ran up to the Soho store to shop and do some exchanging. And I really wanted to try on different sizes and exchange but Anthro didn't have the merchandise so, in addition to a pile of stuff I'd decided to purchase in-store, I was returning four pieces; I would have ended up owing Anthro a couple hundred dollars if I'd completed the transaction but I was so annoyed and frustrated at the attitude I was getting that I left. The final straw was when I handed her my Anthro Card and the SA told me she had to give me a merchandise credit (before she realized I was also purchasing) because I'd printed out my order confirmation and didn't have the original receipts. So I said "I have my receipts and even if I didn't, I have an Anthro Card." to which she responded "I'll accept it this time but for future reference, we need the original receipt." Umm.I won't go back to the Soho Anthro. The store was not busy (I've rarely seen the Soho store as busy as 5th Ave or Rock Center) and there was no excuse for such behavior. Funny, Roxie, I'm a 5th Avenue girl and I always find the SAs to be generally nice there.

  102. March 30, 2010 / 8:29 pm

Now I understand why the SA was rude to me at the McLean VA store on Saturday when I returned a blouse.

  103. March 30, 2010 / 8:48 pm

I know few are still looking and I don't know where I should post this, but Perimeter Mall in Georgia had one size small brown snakebite belt. In the belt rack, near the cash registers.

  104. March 30, 2010 / 9:02 pm

Anon @ 10 AM (/4 PM), thanks for telling us your experience! The printed online confirmations should always work, especially with your card! I can't believe you got a hard time. I *always* accidentally throw out my invoices and have to print these out almost every time, and there has never been a problem, except once when a newbie who was on her first day manning the registers got confused by the paper (lol, now that I think about it actually, half a year later, she was the one who gave me the return stink eye), but her manager quickly corrected her and said that they were basically the equivalent of a receipt and she could easily look up the order in the computer with the info I had provided.(Oh, and I wish Anthro would carry Size 11s too. Big feet solidarity! 🙂 )

Anon @ 4:02, I also find the SAs to be generally nice at 5th Ave (and really at all of the NYC Anthros). Every once in awhile you hit someone at the wrong moment though and that is what happened to me in that instance, just like it sounds like with you and Soho. I went to Soho last weekend on the first sunny, warm day and it was RIDICULOUSLY packed in there. So much so that I just walked right back out.

This is Anon from 11:33am. I'm sorry that so many of you returning 1 or 2 items are getting that kind of attitude. Or getting the stink eye period. I definitely understand the frustration with SAs, and why it shows with those major returns I previously described, even though I agree with others that it is so not in their best interest to show it. Again, I don't think in those cases it is at all personal, definitely a frustration with the policy and it is unwarranted for them to take it out on the customer. Also, Anon who had the issue at Soho? That is hilarious that she was acting like she was doing you a favor! You actually helped her out quite a bit by printing out the online invoice in addition to your Anthro card! Regardless of what that rude SA said to you, stores are equipped to pull up your entire order based on that order number.I don't want to be rude here, but Ileila, your attitude towards this somewhat bothers me. I definitely agree that the lecture from the manager was unwarranted and you shouldn't be judged for making returns and getting price adjustments – Anthro's policy completely allows you to do that, and Anthro clothes are so pricey that you should definitely be taking advantage of them as much as you can! However you still have to understand that you are playing with peoples' livelihood. Even the kindest and hardest working SAs (I'm talking about those that are able to bring in at least a $1000+ sale per hour, and have a happy and returning customer on top of it) can suffer hugely from the losses stores must take because of Anthro's policy. I'm sorry, I'm just sensitive because I have seen firsthand how hardworking, kind, and intelligent people working at Anthropologie that very much need the income and benefits (and are NOT the ones who will give you an attitude when you return) lose their hours, lose their full-time, and lose their's and their family's health insurance simply because of payroll.

With all the negative experiences shared on this blog about returns…I just wanted to say they'er not all bad. I just sent a package to store in CA with a 5 items to return…all from different stores. I don't have a store where I live so I always do a charge and send and they don't always work out.I just recieved a call from a SA saying she just did the returns and that she was also going to refund my shipping cost also. She was so nice. This is the first time I have done a return over the phone, I'm glad it was a pleasant one.

  110. March 30, 2010 / 10:58 pm

I have never had a negative experience at Anthro, whether it's at my local store or calling a store or through CS. I've had experiences that I wouldn't call "stellar," but never one truly below par. If you are really, truly treated inappropriately (as many ladies here were), I think a better action than never shopping at that Anthro again is to nicely tell the higher-ups/manager/etc about your experience. If you explain that you are a frequent customer, that you spend a lot of money there, and that you don't feel that the way you were treated was appropriate, fair or kind, you might be surprised at how things change. That's certainly what I would do if I felt like an SA was really out of line. I am always kind to people in retail because I know it's often not a pleasant job.

  111. March 30, 2010 / 11:10 pm

Anon, I'm not the one "playing with people's livelihoods." If anything, it is Anthro's policy which hurts the stores/associates. Sales Associates shouldn't blame the customer for following their company's own policy. And good customer service is the way to go about building a loyal customer base, not by shaming or being rude to someone. I alsop think it is a bit silly to drive out of the way to a different Anthro to do a return b/c you are worried about the person working there giving you attitude. And on a positive note, I've had mostly good experiences with Anthro, both online and in the store.

  112. March 30, 2010 / 11:23 pm

Just curious if anyone knows – when a store is out of an item, and you order it over the store's phone, does that sale count as a store sale or an online sale? Oftentimes when I go to a store for an online return, I see something else pretty I want, and then they're out of my size. 😛 So after a check in the back, I'll ask if I can order it from their phone (for the F/S). However, they rarely offer to do this for me, so I'm curious as to whether it counts as a store sale, or if it's just a big pain in the A for the SAs.

Katie, I think that this is ABSOLUTELY the right attitude! As I've mentioned, customers definitely don't deserve the attitude from SAs…it's just from my experience, I understand the other side. And I'm sorry that that is upsetting some of you. Obviously, I didn't mean to say one should go out of their way to do returns at a busier store and whatnot, it's just if it is a feasible option. All of my Anthros are at an equal distance from me (nearly an hour to get to any of them), so I try to spread out my returns when I do have them, and return to the busier location. But that of course is because I have that option, I understand not everyone does, and I was just providing that insight from the other side. But to get back to Katie's point – Anthropologie takes their customer service EXTREMELY seriously. If you ever have a negative experience like some of you have discussed today, or feel like you are being treated sub-par you should definitely express this to the higher ups! And if the store manager is giving you a hard time? There is a "contact us" form on Anthropologie's website, and I assure you that every single one of those e-mails are read, responded to, and often appropriate action is taken. Angry/hurt customers are always apologized to, as it should be.That being said, if you have just the opposite experience – a particularly good one, you should also utilize that form! Again, every one of those messages/e-mails are read, and responded to. Even if you're just paying a compliment. Retail definitely isn't always the most pleasant job, and I know how much it means when an extra friendly SA gets a compliment through that form.

Wow! This has been such an interesting discussion to read. Mostly because I get nervous about doing returns (even though I have to say my anthro has amazing SAs). I try never to "return" but only exchange for store credit (since I shop there so much, store credit is as good as cash to me and it minimizes transactions on my bank statement)I'm curious – does anyone know if exchanging for store credit affects a store's numbers? I have to admit, I had never considered that returns can hurt the store.

Anon at 6:38, that is business. When a store has a policy and has sales, customers will take advantage of it. You couldn't possibly think we should all pay full price for items and not take back items we don't want to pay for another person's healthcare i hope. lol. I don't shop at Anthro as a form of welfare.

Diana – if a store tracks down another size for you to customer service, then that sale counts for online. If they track it down to another store, then the other store gets the sale. Generally stores will opt to contact CS before another store simply for a matter of convenience. And I think it depends on the store, and maybe on how busy the store is for them to suggest it to you.Sophie – exchanges don't effect a store's numbers at all. Also, merchandise credits will effect their numbers as they are still taking a loss from the return. But of course, the money will eventually find it's way back to the company once you use the Merch credit (though it won't go back to the original store if you spend it elsewhere). I wouldn't worry so much about all of this. I think it's really awesome that you think about all of that, even not knowing that returns effect a store. But definitely don't let any of this discussion deter you from returns. Everyone has to return things at some point or another, and no one should feel guilty needing to return for the money!

  117. March 31, 2010 / 12:22 am

I would like to chime in as well. I have always had a pleasant experience with the SAs at my local Anthros and I routinely visit 3 different stores. Today I returned the dress that Anthro online erroneously sent to me. The SA stated that that has been happening alot lately and she went on to attempt to locate the dress for me. I thought that she provided excellent customer service by even asking because its the Monochromatic Corset Dress that I ordered and did not receive and I knew that she would be wasting her time by searching. I have seen one instance at a local Anthro where a customer brought in 3 large boxes of returns without receipts on a busy Saturday afternoon. Yes the SA was flustered but she was still courteous. I understand both sides of the coin, but I just wanted to chime in and say that I'm sure sometimes we may catch the SA on a "bad day" or at a "bad time".

Anon at 8:19 – of course it is business. You don't have to tell me, as I have a BBA. I didn't mean to imply you should shop at Anthro for welfare, I just am sensitive and get upset when retail is so looked down upon by some.Muse – I'm glad you had a great experience, and I think you are totally right about hitting stores and SAs on a bad day or a bad time 🙂 (like the 2nd situation you described).Anon at 7:45 – Generally, the comments/e-mail are directly passed on to the regional and District managers (who more often than not, not only inform the manager of the store being praised, but all of their managers in the district as encouragement to THEM) and from there the store managers. They are often given the full e-mail to read (though not given the sender's info), so the SA should be hearing about it assuming the manager wants to continue to motivate them.

I thought they could just look up the item thru sku number on their store computers? can't they? do they physically have to go locate the item? If that is the case, then I understand their hesitation.

Hey Ladies,I have been reading the posts about returns with a lot of trepidation..with the free shipping this past month I have become a serial returner (always from online) and I bought a lot of stuff that didn't work out-fit wise etc. Well I brought back 4 things today..2 were damaged so I was extra worried, but the SA was fantastic! She actually remembered my name too! She didn't even blink at the returns, did them super fast even when I didn't have an online print out for one of them. SO huge raves for the Mt. Lebanon Anthropologie!
