Again, what a wonderful contest Roxy. Thanks for hosting it! And thanks for showing us the answers. Most of them I kind of half-knew already by virtue of running a blog that is basically a love letter to Anthropologie (though I definitely Googled to double check all of them), but I admit I spent an hour or two trying to figure out the highest volume store. Googling told me it was in NYC (I landed upon someone's resume that said she managed the highest volume store, lol), but I didn't know any further than that. I just guessed the Rockefeller Center store, led on by some of your comments that it has the biggest sale section 🙂 So glad that that was somehow right! The questions for Day 4 were indeed toughies! *Those* I didn't half know the answers at all (besides the first one); I definitely would have had to scour the catalogs, and that would have been kind of fun 😉

Roxy, are Ecote and Co-Operative accepted as other answers for #5? I found that answer online; let me know if you need the link. Maybe I interpreted their information wrong? Thanks 🙂

4. March 27, 2010 / 7:08 pm

Yay, I think I got them all right! 🙂 Thanks again Roxy for having this contest, it was fun. The Google fu was most definitely put to the test.Day 3 Question 4 (highest volume store) was definitely the hardest for me too. Goldenmeans and I probably ran across the same LinkedIn page, because I remember staring at some lady's resume too, LOL. But a handful of sites also said that NYC Rockefeller was 'by far the largest store they have' so it seemed like a good bet.Day 4 looked hard! Only knew one of answers (#5), and only because of reading this blog. Good luck everyone!

5. March 27, 2010 / 7:10 pm

@Anon 2:05pm SC isn't in the list. SDakota is.BTW, in my Googling, I found this page which says there are 5 international stores:Store Locator(2 in Toronto, 1 in Edmonton, 2 in London)

diana draw, maybe I misread roxy's answer list, I thought she said SC was one of the anthro-less stataes. thanks 🙂

7. March 27, 2010 / 7:32 pm

Omg…pretty sure I got all if those right! I know the one I completely guessed on was right! Ohhh yay!

8. March 27, 2010 / 7:34 pm

Ack! Two of my answers on Day 2 aren't listed but hopefully will count (Stellapop for made is U.S. brand and Koi Suwannagate for collaborations)

9. March 27, 2010 / 7:35 pm

UGH that highest volume question tripped me up and I just KNEW that the answer was going to end up being Rockefellar Plaza because I was JUST THERE last week! This was so much fun roxy (even though it got cut short). I really enjoyed learning about Anthropologie as a company and now I'm even more in love!

10. March 27, 2010 / 7:59 pm

Thanks for doing this, I learned a lot about Anthro. Interesting that Hoovers Business Database gave a different answer for the highest sales volume store for the last fiscal year in terms of total sales. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Terrain line too.

11. March 27, 2010 / 8:14 pm

Hi Roxy :)When I first read and attempted to answer the "who is Anthropologie's Head Buyer" question, I immediately thought Keith Johnson. But then I thought about it more, and Keith mainly shops for decorative items and homeware stuff…I never heard of him buying clothing/shoes/bags (which is the stuff I think Anthropologie is most shopped for). So I googled and found that Wendy Wurtzburger is the Head Buyer (for clothes and accessories), and Keith is the Buyer At Large. Most recent documentation I could find: <a href="http://www.wireimage.com/ItemListings.aspx?str=%28L-R%29+Head+buyer+for+Anthropologie+Wendy+Wurtzburger%2c+CEO+of+Urban+Outfitters+Glen+Senk%2c+Sundance+Channel+Executive+Vice+President+Sarah+Barnett+and+Anthropologie+buyer-at-large+Keith+Johnson+attend+the+Sundance+Channel+and+Anthropologie+premiere+of+%22Man+Shops+Globe%22+at+Anthropologie+on+September+29%2c+2009+in+New+York+City.&igi=394751&nbc1=1" rel="nofollow">here. The captions list their titles. Sorry if this is trouble, I just thought to be fair for myself and others who might have approached this question this way. Thanks Roxy! 🙂

12. March 27, 2010 / 8:17 pm

Oh darn, I thought Tracy Reese was its own brand? They certainly have a website and other lines I thought were separate from Anthro. Alas that was the only thing I missed then because I listed it under the designer collaborations. I am glad my guess for the Rockefellar Center store was correct though. That question was super hard!

13. March 27, 2010 / 8:22 pm

This contest was so much fun…thanks for doing it. I know it takes a lot of work on your part and the gc amount is just amazing to offer. I'm glad I didn't have to answer the other days, I know I would have gotten tripped up.sugarandspiceandnice.blogspot.com

14. March 27, 2010 / 8:24 pm

Erinaomi, I saw that result too. Roxy, correct me if I'm wrong…but Wendy Wurtzburger is actually one of two Chief Officers of Anthropologie. She shares that title along with another Wendy – Wendy Brown. The entire structure of Anthropologie is actually based on these 2 heads.

I'm curious why Day 2, Question 1's accepted answers (name 7 clothing brands Anthro carries) does not include all the brands listed on your EA Sizing Guide that you linked to. Any meaning to the omissions or just saving space?

Thanks for hosting this wonderful contest Roxy! I did find some sources online that referred to the UK as Anthro's first international location. I think it's b/c they did not consider Canada (or a location within N. America) to be international. Do you think we can still get credit for this? Thanks!

17. March 27, 2010 / 8:50 pm

Loved these answers and I admit I did the fifty nifty song to to figure our which states did not have stores.

18. March 27, 2010 / 8:53 pm

Some of my answers aren't on your list (Project Alabama is made in the USA; they use re-purposed fabrics and give money to charity, according to their label), and I think I had a perfume colab that's not listed. Other than that, I think I did really well. I hope the other answers count!!! 🙂

19. March 27, 2010 / 9:20 pm

What about Koi Suwannagate as a collaboration Roxy? And I also thought Odille was made in the USA..

20. March 27, 2010 / 9:41 pm

This contest was amazing. I was pretty happy once I submitted my answers for day 3. However, I woke up like a bolt that night and was like, "GAH, I totally messed up the states question SO BAD!."Had an awesome time learning about my favorite store! Thanks again for the fun!

21. Alexandra
March 27, 2010 / 9:55 pm

Hey Roxy! Why no Guinevere in the list of brands Anthropologie carries? And singing Fifty Nifty United States was how I got the states one too :o)

22. March 27, 2010 / 9:56 pm

Is Sleeping on Snow accepted as a brand name sold? Thanks!

March 27, 2010 / 10:00 pm

Keith Johnson is not the head buyer, neither are Wendy Wurtzburger nor Wendy Brown. There is, in fact, no "head buyer" of Anthropologie. There are divisional VPs of buying. Sorry, but this information is inaccurate.-an actual anthro source

24. March 27, 2010 / 10:02 pm

I sang the 50 Nifty song to myself, too! I knew that would come in handy one day! The highest volume question broke me in the end, though. I took a shot in the dark and guessed the Philadelphia location on Rittenhouse Square. :-/ Oh well, it was good fun at any rate! Thanks again, Roxy! Hope you run another one sometime!

25. March 27, 2010 / 10:03 pm

I have no busines training AT ALL so it was fun for me to read about Anthro as a business – your post about Q4 earnings was intersting. I missed a few questions, but I still had fun.

26. March 27, 2010 / 10:18 pm

Anon @ 2:31, ha, Ecote, that's a name I haven't heard in a looooong time. It's not listed on UO's corporate site so I will not accept that answer. Sorry!Diana Draw – you're correct, I'd forgotten about the 2nd Toronto location. I'll update the post shortly.Lauren H – yes both those answers will count. erinaomi & Lauren – ah, that's something I hadn't considered. Yes, I will accept Wendy Wurtzburger or Wendy Brown as an answer.Alissa – Anthro buys from Tracy Reese's existing lines. Sorry!Anon @ 4:27 – I went by what is available at Anthropologie currently. If an answer includes brands that were recently sold there I will accept them, but if a brand listed hasn't been sold at Anthro for over a year it will not be accepted.Anon @ 4:50 – I knew that question would be tricky. Canada is definitely international though. I will not accept the UK as an answer for that one.Alicia – Project Alabama's stuff for Anthro is made in India. All of my labels say that — do you have any items by them that you bought at Anthropologie that were made in the USA? I'll double check on the perfume collab you listed, I have not made it to your answers yet. :)Usha – yes that will count. Added.Alexandra – oversight on my part! Added.Bonnie – absolutely. Added!OK, well actual "anthro source" for purposes of this contest, it's Keith Johnson, Wendy Wurtzburger or Wendy Brown. Turn that frown upside down already! You're pissing on my cornflakes. Fun…remember?Ladies, if you see something I missed keep the answers coming. I will check into any I receive before tomorrow at 5 PM.

27. March 27, 2010 / 10:21 pm

Roxy, Thanks so much for the contest and your clarifications (and friendly attitude to boot)!I know you and I have communicated via e-mail before, and for what it's worth, I think that your answer for "head buyer" is the most accurate. Regardless of what "actual anthro source" says lol.

28. Anonymous
March 27, 2010 / 10:27 pm

That's OK. I should have checked the corporate website. Good thinking. :)Just to let go of any false hope, even though the Ecote brand is sold on their website currently, it's not considered a brand UO owns? Thanks for the fun contest. Now if anything about Anthro comes up in conversations, I'll know the answers. 🙂

29. March 27, 2010 / 10:32 pm

Thanks Roxy! 🙂

30. March 27, 2010 / 10:34 pm

Geez, that poor woman who listed "highest volume store" on her resume must've had so many hits the other day! I was trying to pick apart her resume to figure out which NY shop, too! How funny . . . .

31. March 27, 2010 / 10:37 pm

TeriLynn13 – can you email me a link to your source? If something different is listed there I will consider accepting it.

32. March 27, 2010 / 10:40 pm

Hey Roxy. I saw your response for the question on the UK. Am I to understand that Canada and UK will not be accepted? Did we have to say England? On Anthro's store locations page, they have Canada and United Kingdom listed under International locations so I would think that UK as one of the answers would be right. Am I misunderstanding?

33. March 27, 2010 / 10:43 pm

tcostopoulos – to clarify, for Day 3, question 3 (name the first international store), Canada/Toronto are acceptable answers but the UK/London are not. For Question 2 all international locations should be listed.

34. March 27, 2010 / 10:43 pm

And syntax doesn't matter to me, so long as I know which place you mean.

35. March 27, 2010 / 11:11 pm

Hi Roxy, is Gyphon an acceptable answer for the collaborations? Also, I submitted my day 3 answers and didn't get a confirmation. I submitted them last night with the time stamp, does that count? [If not, obviously that's okay because I should have tried to resubmit again but the gift card would be excellent]

36. March 27, 2010 / 11:40 pm

Oooh! I'm so glad I guessed Rockefeller Center! I had a feeling I was right–it's definitely the biggest I've ever been to and whenever I need an item to be shipped from another store, it's always that location.I hope artist Natalie Lete counts as a collaboration!

37. March 28, 2010 / 1:05 am

YAAAAY I got them all right!!! I'm so so so so happy! At least I have a chance of an Anthro trip now!!!I totally sang the 50 nifty song to myself too, hehe : -)Also, on the first international store question, I only listed Toronto, ON, but not the specific location. I hope that's okay!!Thanks, Roxy, for such a fun little scavenger hunt &chance to learn a lot about my favourite store!! And thanks for keeping such a positive spirit in spite of some unexpected bumps along the hunty-way!<3 Meisha

38. March 28, 2010 / 1:15 am

For question 2 on day 3, was listing the cities and counties good enough or were we suppose to list the street names of each location? For example, I answered, Canada: Toronto, ON; Edmonton, AB; and United Kingdom: London, UK. Is this answer acceptable? Thanks!

39. March 28, 2010 / 1:18 am

Boo. I guessed wrong for highest volume. Oh Joe I wished I wasn't lazy and hadlinked the contest. It was the only one I missed. 🙁 Still I had loads of fun. At least I got to learn a lot. I also read that anthro currently circulates about 20 million catlags and that they wanted to get it down to 18. Something catalogs sometime this year.

40. March 28, 2010 / 1:20 am

I didn't enter but for the question re: collaborations… what about Travota and Anthro (Isabella Sinclair)?

41. March 28, 2010 / 1:22 am

Oh and for the designer collab I answered Fred Shand, as she is a textile designer. She did the Waterloo bedding and assorted pillows for anthro. I don't think that wAs listed but I'm reading from my phone, so I could be wrong.

42. March 28, 2010 / 1:41 am

Awwwww. Another lesson about 'always double check your work' learned. I had Oklahoma written down (Day 3 Question 5) but I forgot to type it in the email.Crapcrapcrap.I DID do the blog post but I'm bummed that I worked so hard and made a dumb mistake.*Kicks dirt*

43. March 28, 2010 / 1:50 am

HAH! I'm thrilled I got Rockefeller center right!I just realized I wrote "Western Wear" instead of "Weston Wear" for my answers. I am so dumb, I swear. I hope you'll accept my spelling mistake. How I did that, I have no idea. I was looking at the blog to get the answer to boot!

44. March 28, 2010 / 2:01 am

Blerg…put London instead of England for my answer to locations of international stores. Good thing I facebooked about the contest…. (I hate getting things wrong though!!!)

45. March 28, 2010 / 2:13 am

Hi Roxy! Thanks again for such a fun contest! Please, please, please tell me that Charlotte Tarantola, maker of beautiful sweaters such as the high speed cardigan, is an acceptable answer for clothing brands that Anthro carries. Pretty please?

46. Carmen
March 28, 2010 / 2:21 am

boo so sad, I did not enter any answers for day 3 bc I saw the urgent post about ending the contest above the post for day 3! Oh well hope some lucky community member gets some great stuff. Please share with us what you scored so we can live vicariously!

47. March 28, 2010 / 2:29 am

This was BY FAR the most fun and enlightening quiz I've taken lately. Why couldn't college have been so fun? LOL! Maybe I should've majored in something else because I found that it's actually possible to enjoy research – when it's on a topic like Anthro! Thanks for the wonderful scavenger hunt Roxy and for all the time you've spent reading through those email responses. I hope my day 3 answers made it to you – I'm pretty sure I got all the answers right although Rockerfellar was a total guess. Thanks again Roxy – love your blog, loved the scavenger hunt!

March 28, 2010 / 2:34 am

I thought Field Flowers was an acceptable brand. I own a sweater I bought there from that brand. I love my tick tock sweater.

49. March 28, 2010 / 2:49 am

what about Field Flower for brands that Anthro carries?

March 28, 2010 / 3:20 am

I found the answer for day 3/question 4 at: <a href="http://www.mackenziekeck.com/Anthropologie-NY.htmlhttp://www.mackenziekeck.com/Anthropologie-NY.htm… />took me a long time to get it! Whew. I wasn't sure I was correct! I've never been to NY.On the "where was the 1st international store opened" question, I initially put England & discovered it was Canada when I triple checked my answers. (thank goodness I checked!)Thanks for such a fun challenge Roxy! I hope we have more contests to look forward to in the future.Congrats to whomever the winner is!

I believe Velvet is made in the US, no?

52. March 28, 2010 / 4:37 am

Awww. I would have still been in the running! 🙂 I totally guessed on the Rockefeller Center Store. I went so far as researching what "highest volume" meant which led me to "flagship stores". Most people apparently felt that Rockefeller was the flagship store so I prayed and put that as my answer. Haha. Unfortunately, the last set of questions would have kept me on the computer all day. :)Thanks again Roxy for an awesome quiz! I now know way more about Anthropologie that I could have ever imagined!

53. March 28, 2010 / 5:10 am

AGH, I got them all right including the one I wasn't sure about, then somehow on the very last question about the states anthro is in I accedentilly typed Idaho, must have missed it on the store locations list or just got jumbeled trying to go through the list while comparing it to a list of the 50 states. 🙁 Unfortunately, I was never taught that Nifty 50 song! 🙁

54. March 28, 2010 / 5:15 am

Darn! I could have sworn Project Alabama was made in the USA. You're right, Roxy. 🙂 Thanks for taking the time to make such a challenging quiz!

55. March 28, 2010 / 7:07 am

Roxy, thanks for the contest. I learned a lot!For the 2009 collaborations question, I looked through your reviews to make sure and Ruffian had some pieces at Anthro in 2009. So would that count as a collaboration?Take for example, Ruffian's Mise-En-Scene line..with items like the Flocked Chiffon blouse. thanks 🙂

56. March 28, 2010 / 7:10 am

Oh never mind, I just saw Ruffian on the list. Sorry 🙂

March 28, 2010 / 3:56 pm

Shoot I didn't realize how specific we had to be for Day Three Question Two since the question for highest volume was asked so specifically. I just assumed you wanted the countries for international locations. This was a lot of fun and I couldn't wait for Sunday to see the answers!

58. March 28, 2010 / 8:06 pm

I think I got them all right, but I'm a little worried because I also didn't get a confirmation e-mail for Day 3. Hmm… I sure hope you got my answers for that day. Anyways, thanks for running this contest, Roxy! It was really fun! 🙂

59. March 28, 2010 / 8:10 pm

Roxy- For day three, question two I only put Canada (Toronto and Edmonton) and London for the international locations. Did we have to be specific as to where exactly the stores were? I know it said that you needed to for the highest volume question but I don't think it did for that one so I just listed the cities. Sorry if this had kind of already been answered but I still wasn't sure after reading the comments Thanks!!!

60. March 29, 2010 / 3:40 am

did we ever get an answer about if we did not receive an email back from the 3rd day of answers, if we're still in the running? thanks!

That was actually three days of fun! I can't believe I got them all right 🙂 Btw, Roxy, I so need to apologize for Day 3 – the last question about the States – I really should have alphabetized my answers for you. Good Lord…I thought I had missed a few when I was checking my own answers, but they were all there…just not in a convenient to read manner…ugh! I'm apologizing for the eye strain and migraine I've probably caused you! Thanks again for running the contest – I can't wait to find out who won! Good Luck, Ladies!!

*happy dance*Two hours of scouring the internet seems to have paid off! Hopefully you got my day 3 answers. I wasn't getting an automatic reply when I sent them with my eschene@gmail.com address so I sent them from another and threw a reference to that address. Hoping you got it. Thank you again for this — it was SUCH a nice break to do something fun in the midst of my finals week. Good luck tabulating!

Thank you for taking the time to do this, Roxy. It was a lot of fun! I also got all the answers right, yay! Good luck to everyone!I realize that one of the rules is to follow your blog. I'm following with my Twitter account, but realized that that email was different from the address I used to send my answers. I've since changed it so they're the same. Is this a problem?

Like everyone else, I had a GREAT time doing the scavenger hunt. I only wish I hadn't mentally picked out all the Anthro things I was going to buy with my winning entries!!! Now I'm going to have to buy all this stuff anyway without any gift card to help. 😉

Kimberly – yes, Gryphon will count. Added!AL – Absolutely Nathalie Lété will count for collabs! Can't believe I forgot about that one. Anonymous @ 7:41 – totally, Vera counts. 🙂 Added.robinschuh – yep, that counts too. Added!Meisha – yes, just saying Toronto is fine.Bonnie – yeah, I'll let that slide. It's not really what I wanted (I wanted all 5 specifically listed) but since the direction didn't explicitly state that I will accept your answer (and anyone else who did that too).Lauren – that one works too. Added. :)Tien – that works. Added!Meg – blargh. Unfortunately I am not going to take that. Sorry, it pains me but the name is wrong.Lauren H – London is fine.szmom – yes Charlotte Tarantola is fine. Added.Anon @ 10:34 PM – Field Flower works.Anon @ 12:26 AM – Velvet's stuff might be Made in the USA in general, but is their stuff at Anthropologie? The Velvet/Anthro items I own are made in China. Anyone have a Made in the USA label on their Velvet stuff purchased from Anthro?shoey – country is fine.hey_kate – what you wrote is fine. :)citylightskid – yes, I answered that in the Kiboshed comments thread. To repeat what I said was that if you didn't get a confirmation email it was best to re-send before the 11:59 deadline. That deadline has since passed so please don't re-send now! debbie deb – shouldn't be, I'll contact you directly if I have an issue correlating. By the way I have sent several peeps emails checking their follower validity. There are a couple of people I haven't heard back from yet — please check your email before 5 PM for something from snapsparkchik at gmail!

Well damn. >.<

Hi Roxy,I was reading your response regarding Velvet being made in China. However, I have some Velvet tops that I purchased at Anthro (circa 2004/2005/2006), and they were all made in the USA. Maybe Velvet moved their production to China at some point??

Hi Sasha – Some brands sell their finished, produced products directly to Anthropologie. Some license them, in which case Anthropologie buys rights and produces the items themselves in their own factories. My guess would be that at some point Anthropologie started buying producing rights from Velvet instead of just buying the finished goods. Thank you for the update! I only wish the stuff was still made in the USA, it's a big deal to me.

Roxy~You're probably right…I know nothing of fashion buying nor production! As for buying Made in the USA products – I couldn't agree more! It's a huge deal to me as well. My husband and I try really hard to buy American made products as much as possible. Unfortunately, it's an arduous task – nearly everything is produced overseas. It's such a shame, and a huge part of the gaping hole in the American economy these days. As much as I love Anthro, I wish they sold more products made in the USA. You know – if they did, I would be more than happy to fork over even more money to buy products that are produced here. Anyway, sorry to rant – that's just such an important topic 🙂
