I have noticed a lot of community members sharing in-store deals and spots in the comments of various posts. Inspired by the weekly Seek & Find posts started by the lovely Alexis over at J.Crew Aficionada, I think now is a good time to start a similar weekly post here.
This post is for community members to trade information. You can ask for help in finding an item, report back on what you saw in-store at your local Anthro, ask general questions, make a request, or just stop by to say hello. I love how helpful this community can be!

I also need some advice. I've had the Staysail Shirt Dress in my cart for a while now. I've read all the reviews that say you should size up and I've read Roxy's review but I'm a size 14 (and large bust) so I can't size up. Should I go for it any way and give it a try or am I just out of luck?

Hi,I agree with Roxy about Leifsdottir clothes at Rack. I had an amazing score of the Conch Shell skirt, Anthro. catalog March 09. I bought it for about $ 29 (75% off of 109). I was so excited that day. However, I spent another $ 28 for alteration. LOL. The total cost was about $ 60. The good thing was I provided a little job for my local dressmaker.I also have had lucks with my shoes at the Rack. I can find sample shoes from designers for $ 100 or less. These shoes are in python or snake or ostrict leathers. One time, I bought a Chie Mahara happy green color shoes for $ 60. It is perfect for my Grassland dress. One observation I realized at the Rack is that majority of shoppers like basic color shoes like black, brown, and navy. Any other colors like yellow, pink, orange, green, lilac, purple, etc… are difficult to sell. But this is for my advantage because these amazing sample shoes are very well made with excellent materials. Well, because these shoes are sample, they are to be represented to a vendor, so they have to be good. These sample many times do not make it to the final product so they are sold out at Rack. But because they are not mass produced, I end up buying a lot of beautiful designer shoes, unique, cute, and one-of-a kind shoes.Cindy

I just got the Horizon Line Dress in the shell color in size 6 from new Chicago store but I don't like how it looks on me. I'm planning on returning to Santana Row store in San Jose tomorrow. I will also be returning a size medium Wind-Rippled tee. The fraying on the chiffon bugged me. Has anyone seen the Sweater Sleeve Coat from October catalog in a size 0 or 2?
Anon @ 2:44 – I've seen petites on the sale racks in stores (for example, there were tons of petites in the Swirling Villages Dress at the Baltimore store in December). Maybe the warehouse sends unsold petites to the sale racks at stores, even if the stores don't normally carry them?

Lindsey.elizabeth, I think you might be out of luck with the stay sail dress. I got it in my usual 8 and it is impossible to sit down or inhale deeply without the snaps coming open. I think even in a 10 it would be borderline.

For everyone looking at the winding ruffle boots – I sized up a .5 in them, and they are a perfect fit. So I would check a half a size up. You can always wear socks!

Patti – Miss Albright is an in-house brand, so you will only find their shoes at Anthropologie (same with Schuler & Sons and a couple of others).
stefanie – i got really excited when CS said they had the dress. the SA in NY sounded like she was starting to get annoyed with CS referring customers to call there. oh well :/

San Francisco has Lilac Ombre in 9.5 and 10 as of tonight. Also a very cute Chie Mihara floral oxfords in size 38 for $169. I can't find the Anthro name but I think other places they were called Ganz. They were a small 38: I wear 8/38 but the toe box was very small. They also had those sparkly glitter booties in size 7: lavender sparkly.

I have no idea where the new arrivals on ebay come from. I did buy a plaza cardigan and the only difference was that one of the tags was cut out so you could not return it. Other than that it was perfect. I also bought a best in show blouse and it just did not have store tags. I would love to know where they come from as well.
Marge-I am on ebay a lot and have bought things from a lot of different sellers- some that only sell anthro stuff. Check where they are sending them from…I won't buy anything if it seems like it is being replicated from far overseas. I think that in some cases, it is too far to drive and return the item? Maybe they are employees using discounts? Not sure about that but am curious too!
re: new items on ebay:I have no idea where this merchandise is coming from, but I did purchase a dress for one of my friends (the fairy cake dress) from seller lilywang(?) for nearly half off retail. It was authentic.

Hi Sarah-First, try the anthro @ Fashion Valley for the converging roads sweaterdress- I'm not sure of the sizes left but there were quite a few there today- (619) 291-2891.As for ordering from another store, when I ordered my winding ruffles boots, the AZ store charged me CA sales tax and shipped them for free via UPS to my house.Hope this helps!

Emily, thanks for the tip on the honeyed peplum skirt. Unfortunately, my local nordstrom rack in south FL doesn't have any. Hi Roxy,would you happen to have the item number for the Chie Mihara Ayoi booties? It is beige with lots of ribbons/bows in the back of the heels. It is very similar to the Frilled Heels # 940065 in July 09 catalog. The difference is the Frilled Heels are back and ribbons are on top of the shoes. I have a general question. If I purchase an item at its original price, never wear it, and never remove its tag and then it later goes on sale after the 14 day price adjustment period has expired, can I return it and re-purchase at the sale price? Anon, at the risk of sounding harsh that's frowned upon. Yes, you can do it but Anthro considers it taking advantage of their return policy.

I also have a general question–I'm curious about Anthro's personal shopping service. Has anyone used it, and how was your experience?I think I'm proficient at coordinating items together, tops & bottoms w/ cardigans or whatever, but I feel stymied about how to accessorize. I sense that cool accessorizing would polish up an outfit, and so maybe some personal shopping service might be helpful.

Glenda -I've received advice from the personal shopper at the Boylston Street Anthropologie store in Boston on multiple occasions and she is amazing! She's very honest about fit issues – on multiple occasions she has told me not to buy something because it just wasn't flattering on me. She also gives great tips for accessorizing. I've purchased belts, tights, shoes, and cardigans with her help. She's really nice about trying to work with items that you already own, if you don't have the budget to go out and buy a bunch of new things. Definitely take advantage of the personal shopping service if it's available at your local store!
I haven't seen it in a while, but if anyone spots the Behind the Clouds dress (930017) sz. 8 or 10 in the gray, I will love you forever. Seriously.

Re: returning items when price has gone down after and after 14 day return period: I have had both experiences: a polite and sweet price adjustment AND an explanation that NO I could not return and repurchase because if I did it "everyone would do it". Of course "everyone" would not do it because a) you would have to not wear the item and b) you would have to be guessing pretty well to only not wear items which will end up on sale. SF told me I had to wait 24 hours and in that instance, i went back the next day and item was there in sale area and I repurchased. I think it would be taking advantage of the return policy if you do that outside the price adjustment period so I was fine with just returning it.
Lola, thanks for your input! I think I need to calm down on my Anthro purchases (yesterday I came across a bunch of receipts on my desk, which definitely gave me pause), and so maybe I'll schedule a consultation mid-late Feb.!

Hi Glenda the personal shopper at the Austin Anthro is really good, her name is Shannon and she is a manager there as well. I have never officially used the service, I hardly ever buy anything regular price, but whenever she is there I always ask her opinion when I am trying to decide what to purchase. And she is always honest with me. She does a great job of mixing, vintage, forever 21 cheapies and anthro things.
Hydra-The Rinzu robe is currently online in sizes small and medium. It shows up on my wishlist but you may have to go through the catalog function.

I spent a very productive lunch hour on the phone tracking down a pair of Hedy Platforms with the help of the most fabulous Customer Service person ever. The store I finally found a pair at was quoting the price at $79.99, but I stated that Customer Service had told me the marked down price was $39.99. The clerk checked the figures and lowered the price accordingly, so if you've purchased them recently, definitely get that price adjustment (78%!!!)

@Jamie – Congrats on finding your heels! I tried customer service (twice) today, but both times they told me they couldn't do a store search because they were updating inventory. How did your customer service rep manage to do it?
I called 11:15 PM Central. According to the Customer Service Representative that helped me, inventory was mostly entered (although it seemed to be fairly slow). She said that they're not supposed to give out store info if the inventory states they have less than 3 of the items in stock, but she was sympathetic in my quest and gave me the numbers of the three stores she showed as possibly having a pair in stock. And I'm sorry for your luck lindsey..elizabeth, but bright side: you actually have a pair!
And Kristina, keep checking back with Customer Service, because a couple of the stores I called said they received the already sold pairs due to online returns. Good Luck!
