Email: January, for the wayfarer

Apparently come January some peeps can only think of escape. I can’t imagine why. Snow, cold, short days…what’s not to love? Anthropologie puts a positive spin on the whole thing with their latest email all about the wayfarer. Love this idea. The January catalogue is growing on me more and more each day and the photos are just stunning.

left outfit: Twined Ribbon Cloche (not yet online)
& Floating Forsythia Dress ($148, review here)
right outfit: Shoofly Trench ($198), Around The World Dress ($168),
& Sweetheart Oxfords ($218)

Over on the website Anthro reveals just a bit more about their inspiration — 50s style. Now that they’ve pointed it out I totally see it in the full skirts and draping styles. What a great era to tackle. I look forward to seeing more of the collection.

That's interesting about the 50s comment. I was in Anthro today and this lady purchased three of the Cosgrove dress. One in each color. She liked them because they had a 50s style to them. All I was wondering was how did she get the neck to work because it was suffocating me.

The Floating Forsythia Dress seems more 1920s than 1950s. Is that just me?

Hello all, Has anyone received a paper catalogue yet?

Diem hee as you know I had the same issue. Tien – I dunno, I think the folded V is pretty 1950s. Maybe the cloche and the short bob are giving you 1920s vibes?Jennifer – I have not gotten mine yet, but I typically don't get it until around the 7th of the month. Not that I track these things or anything…lalala…

I just received my January catalog today.

Jennifer – I got my catalog in the mail yesterday.I agree Tien – I think the Floating Forsythia, in all its ugliness, has more of a 20's or 40's vibe, which is what I felt w/the whole catalog. 50's didn't really come to mind, but to each their own 😉

Jennifer – I just received my paper catalog in the mail today. Normally, it arrives like clockwork on the 1st or 2nd of the month. I suspect that Anthro is just a little behind on its mailings due to the recent holidays. If you don't receive a catalog by next week, I would e-mail CS. My October catalog didn't arrive during the usual timeframe, so I e-mailed CS around October 10th and they sent me a new one right away.

I would love a review of the sun dots dress if anyone gets the chance to try it on! I'm considering it for an outside May wedding. I'm thinking the shape may not be all that kind to my child-bearing hips….

I just received my catalog, too! It's a big event for us. After dinner, boyfriend and I will go through it together discussing if something works or not and if it will work on me.

Ha, Tien, I do the same thing with my boyfriend! Tonight, while we were waiting for dinner to be ready, we looked through the January catalog together and he gave me his opinions on which items I should think about ordering. He'll be glad to know that he's not the only guy who does this 🙂

I received my Anthro catalog in the mail on Saturday! The only timely thing I've received from Anthro lately. Still waiting on an order my hubby placed for me on Christmas Eve. (Supposed to arrive tomorrow – at long, freaking last!!)

Speaking of catalogs a ton of items that have recently disappeared online have popped back online and are available if you click through the online catalogs. Not sure if you've already heard of this so sorry if this info is redundant! More specifically items in the the Sep/Oct/Nov catalogs have popped back online from I'm guessing all those Christmas returns. B/c of the retarded index page re-directs you can't actually see the item page but you can still put the items into you're cart and see them when you checkout. I haven't actually placed an order for one of these items so I cant say for sure if your order will go through, but I have noticed the stock on these change in the past few days. Some notable items: Monochromatic Dress, Flight of Swans Dress, Mallard Heels, Always a Lady skirt, Efflorescent Dress, Twilit skirt, Color-Drenched Dress, Lolland Sweater Dress (not on sale!)…a ton of other stuff as well.Sorry if this info is old!
