Spotted! The Floating Lace Top, Snakebite Belt doppleganger, Finishing Touches Top

One of the more intriguing/bewildering new items from Anthropologie’s November catalogue is Pencey’s Floating Lace Blouse ($128). It’s gorgeous for sure but it’s been a bit of a head-scratcher figuring out how to style it. Anthropologie suggests wearing it over the beautiful Blushing Faille Dress ($188). But we can all take a deep breath because Shopbop went one step further and figured it all out for us:

Whoa Shopbop. Just whoa! I love Shopbop, but just wow. The shirt is the same price on Shopbop as Anthropologie but if this is the only item you want Shopbop wins out because their shipping is free with no minimum. Thanks to Carolyn for the link.

Also thanks to Danielle who in this post pointed out a couple of Anthro items that have really close knockoffs for less. A couple of days ago I reviewed the Finishing Touches Top ($68) and it turns out Target has a really similar top for $15. Granted the cowl isn’t quite as fab on the Target version but for $15 I will not be crying into my $53 saved. Target version below.

Finally, if you missed the Snakebite Belt or don’t want to wait until the backordered colors to arrive, Danielle reports that Charlotte Russe makes a very similar item for $7:

I just wanted to let all of the readers know that if they are interested in the Snakebite Belt Charlotte Russe has a VERY similar black “Snakebite Belt” for $6.99! The buckle is only slightly larger and the quality is that of the Snakebite but, hey, it’s $6.99! I didn’t buy it because I already have all 3 colors but my friend bought it because she didn’t want to wait until mid-December for the waitlist.

Charlotte Russe’s website does not have the belt yet (or it’s sold out online). However if you’re near a store you may want to swing by to check this out. Thanks ladies for the tips! Finally, for anyone in NYC, Noir Jewelry, the maker of the Owl’s Evening Ring ($198), the Iguana Ring ($148) and the Tentacles Ring ($178) is holding a sample sale here in New York City. Their items will be up to 75% off retail. Here is the location information:
350 W 38th St
(btwn 8th & 9th Ave)
5th Floor
New York, NY 10018
(212) 244-4846

If you see an Anthropologie item (or Anthro-like item) for less, please leave a tip in the comments or email me at snapsparkchik at gmail dawt com. Cheers to a wonderful community!

OMG I almost fell out of my chair at the way Shopbop styled the Floating Lace Top!!! LOL. For the inner 15 year old belly-barer in all of us a I guess. Or hooker!

I laughed so hard when I saw how shopbob styled the floating lace top. It used to look so respectable, where did it go wrong?

LOL Kim me too. My coworkers must think I'm deranged. Jessebel that is awesome news, I was pretty mad to see the dreaded "OUT OF STOCK" bar in my cart the other day. Here's a link to the Endless product page. Don't forget to use Ebates if you are signed up and if not just click here to sign up (it's free).

I like the Target top better because of the long sleeve. I was just there last night. Better make a trip tomorrow!

wow the lace top looks like something out of a madonna video circa 1983

  12. November 18, 2009 / 9:50 pm

I just went to Charlotte Russe to find the belt, but no luck! 🙁

  13. November 18, 2009 / 10:44 pm

I'll see if I can take a picture of my friend's belt. She got it last week and there weren't that many left so I'm guessing it sold out online! : (

Anyone lusting after the Freshly Fallen Coat, would be very happy to have (like I am) the ELLE™ Rosette Coat at Kohls. It is in black, but is a great replica of the anthro coat. It fits true to size and is very soft and beautiful. The first store I went to sold all out this morning. Looks like they have online, at this time. Bonnie

ShopBop also has the lace top in white with black ribbons: hereAlso of note, if one uses Ebates, ShopBop qualifies for 6% back now.

Wow I was really surprised by the "scandalous" looking pic of the Floating Lace Top! I don't really see how that top could be worn anyway, even with the cute Anthro bow dress.

  17. November 19, 2009 / 12:58 am

Oh no, the way they styled the Floating Lace Top over at Shopbop. It totally killed the image I had in my head of the top being romantic and timeless.

  18. November 19, 2009 / 1:52 am

I actually saw a black version of the Freshly Fallen Coat at a boutique on a mannequin. I'm glad I did, because one look at it, I knew it wasn't going to go work for me. The flowers around the collar the pleating would overwhelm me.The Kohl's version of it isn't bad. My only gripe is that it's completely synthetic. But it's not bad at all.I also spotted the Elimovna Coat in black at a different boutique. I'm not a huge fan of pink, so I didn't think much of the coat, but WOW the black version is gorgeous.

Oh no, I completely agree with Rosa. I was making grabby hands at that Floating Lace top, but now? Ack. That is AWFUL.Oh Shopbop, how could you.

Hey have you read the latest review about the "Blushing Faille Dress"? It's by "AnthroFan" and it made a lot of sense for me. I was thinking of buying that dress… not anymore!

  22. January 1, 2010 / 5:38 pm

I could not leave the store without the floating lace top. It took me months, but I finally put an outfit together! A little more on the classic, conservative side but no shortage of compliments! I put it over a jcrew tissue t turtleneck in champagne, dark grey herringbone high waisted trousers, spike heel boots or shoes and finished it off with the bookends necklace in cream. Works for me but please let me know if anybody has some more suggestions!
