Reviews: Cloverleaf Scoopneck & Chloe Skirt

I was eager to see the Cloverleaf Scoopneck ($48) in-store. Of course it looks great on the model! But how would the lucky ruffles — which can I be honest kind of look like ruffle suspenders — translate in real life?

I’m happy to report I didn’t have to wait long. This top has been selling like hotcakes I was told. The staff at the Soho Anthropologie was nice enough to pull both a medium and a large from their stockroom for me to try on. The only size left on the floor was an XS. A lot of reviewers on the product page said they had to size up but that was not the case for me. Above I have on the medium and truthfully I would have liked to try a small. There were none left.

The large I found to be much too loose in the torso so for me this top was true to size. I know it looks like the left side of the shirt is crunched a bit in the photos above but that is because of my arm holding the iPhone. In the medium it took me a second to position all the stripes correctly but once I’d set the shirt I think it looked quite nice. The cotton is nice and thick, perfect for fall. I was thrilled at the length; the shirt hits me low-hip on the sides which is the perfect spot to create a long lean shape. The ruffle effect doesn’t add width. Overall I think it’s cute and $48 is a low price point for Anthropologie. Almost seems like a steal.

The skirt you see on me is the Chloe Skirt ($98). Is it named after the fashionable young woman in the square states? Potentially. I love the tutu skirt trend that is happening now. Haute Hippie has a Tutu Dress ($445) that I am pining for. This skirt could be a fun winter piece.

Not to pick on Odille but their skirt sizing has been inconsistent this year. I tried on the Chloe Skirt in a 6 and it was gapping at my waist something awful. On a skirt this soft it doesn’t really matter but if I’m a 4 than a true size 2 or 0 is sized out. Coming up tomorrow I have an Odille pencil skirt that I had to size up to a 10 in. In the Thousand Days Skirt ($78) I was a 6. So that’s a 4, a 6 and a 10 from the same brand. Makes it very hard to order online.

Sizing issues aside I love the skirt. It’s highly twirlable and the silk is everything I expect from a tutu. It is like, totally 80s throwback but I missed it the first time around so while I reject neon and legwarmers this is one vintage piece I can embrace. I had to zip it up very carefully but otherwise this is a very easygoing fun skirt.

wow i didn't know that odille had weird sizing issues. Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking of ordering that skirt online, but I guess I'll just have to make a trek out anthro.

I find it funny that we now consider $48 for a T-shirt with stripes a steal.

Haha, OK too true Diem. Perhaps my statement is a little too generous.

No, what I meant by it is that we've grown so accustomed to the high prices from Anthro. So when we see anything below $50 at the regular price, we think it's a bargain! Great marketing plan from Anthro to get us to spend our money sooner instaed of waiting for a sale.

BTW, I do like the Cloverlead scoopneck and was thinking about paying the regular price for it instead of waiting for a sale :)…

I like both on you, esp the skirt. It's cute and looks very versatile.

I walked past both those things without much interest but now will take a look. Also didn't realize the tee came in 4 colors. Thanks for info. Oh and skirt esp looks very nice on you.

LOL! Darn right, Anthro had better name a skirt after me! ♥
