Outfits: Thatta Way!

I was happily surprised to see new outfits already up on Anthropologie’s website. I always love their styling ideas and this set is no exception. The theme seems to be maps and travel, an idea that is also the theme of their store windows this month. I love the model they used — especially her hair! I had a similar cut last fall (inspired by Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Marie Claire cover). Every time I see it I’m tempted to cut my locks off again. On to the outfits!

Let’s start with the featured number above. I saw Floreat’s Belle-Of-The-Ball Dress ($188) in-store yesterday and it is jaw-dropping gorgeous. A mix of velvet and tulle, I would wear this to a winter dance were I still in school. I do get 80s vibes from it (or grunge-era Courtney Love, you pick). I will be trying this one on soon for sure though. For fans of Charlotte Tarantola’s other long cardigans, the brand offers an equally stunning shorter cardi in the new Precious Fern Cardigan ($118). The Bright Idea Corset Belt ($48) is a bit out of my comfort zone but Anthro sure makes it work. But the star of this outfit to me if the Enormity Necklace ($218) below.

Anthro wraps up the look with Hue’s Opaque Tights ($13) and the Sciapo Corsage Booties ($378).

Anthropologie’s collaboration with Ruffian is paying off in spades. The Quilted Velvet Jacket ($188), part of the Mise-en-Scene collection, is nothing short of stunning. I want it. Right now. Please deliver directly from computer screen to my mailbox. It’s such a great shape and looks great with the Paragon Top ($88) by Weston Wear underneath.

The bottoms are AG’s Rosebud Denim Tights ($128). I broke out in hives reading that name — denim tights? Denim tights??? Not OK with me. I hear these are big with the college crowd so it makes me feel appropriately old to say not a chance in hell Anthro. They redeem themselves by polishing off the outfit with Chie Mihara’s Open Wing Heels ($338). Chie Mihara can do no wrong.

This next outfit is all about the details. It begins with Yoana Baraschi’s Abydos Dress ($228) which features an intricate, stunning neckline. I wonder how the tie waist will translate on curves. Rest assured that I will try this on as soon as I see it.

Equally as showy but on a smaller scale is the Labyrinth Headband ($32). I love the sparkles and pailletes. Shape turns to texture courtesy of the Loops & Lines Tights ($18). The boots are Coclico’s amazing-looking Venice-Of-The-North Boots ($578). The one review so far criticizes the price which I agree is outlandish but says nothing about the fit or quality, so don’t be dissuaded by the current 1 out of 5 rating. I don’t think they’ll fit around my calves but I will certainly try.

The final outfit I’d like to highlight begins with one.september’s irrestible Starbound Dress ($138). It comes with the belt! Yay! The Seurat Posie Blouse ($228) by Leifsdottir works well below this dress. This is actually one of my favorite winter tricks — wear a long-sleeved shirt (or turtleneck) under a dress with a deep scoopneck. It’s a timeless look that Anthropologie has put a great spin on by using a boldly patterned top.

The Grooved Channels Tights ($18) look warm for winter and Miss Albright’s Headmistress Peep-Toes ($138) are shooties with style. There are a few more outfits to check out on the site. Lots of great styling ideas…be sure to check them out!

I love the last outfit so much – how they paired the blouse under the Starbound Dress – so pretty!
