I love that Anthropologie spells grey the same way I do — spell check be damned. Their latest email announces the arrival of things dance-inspired to wear and homewares in shades of grey. As a kid I took all kinds of dance classes (as I’m sure many of you did too)…tap, a little ballet, jazz and so on. These days I still love dancing though it’s mostly at home in front of my TV or mirror. So it goes! These fashions land more on the classical training side than the all-night partying side.
By far my favorite piece from the dance collection is the Cotillion Slip ($118). Expensive, but so beautiful it would almost be a shame to wear this under a dress. I also like the look of the First Position Tee ($58) although the top appears to be sheer and that gives me pause. I could never wear the Crinkle Cut Leggings ($48) that the model has on above but the look is quite cool.
The Rendered Swarm Chemise ($58) is a hyponotizing concoction of paisley-esque colors combining to form migrating butterflies all over the skirt. Like many of Anthropologie’s chemises I could see wearing this as a dress so long as the fabric holds up for a full day’s wear. This is much too pretty to only wear around the house.
Speaking of house, over in the grey home collection the Slate Coaster and Chalk Set ($24) would make a great gift. I see that the Rosette Bedding Collection ($58-$268) now comes in charcoal. The more I think about it the more I realize I have quite a few grey accessories in my apartment. A grey bass guitar hanging on one wall. A huge photographic print that is black and white and grey. Grey magazine files where I keep all my Anthropologie catalogs. Guess I like the color more than I thought.
I love the Cotillion slip too 🙂 But yikes, the price! I wrote about it a little this morning…I don't think the feel and fit is enough to warrant a full price purchase. The Gamine chemise is nice, though not in the weird navy/pink color way that's online — there was an in-store version a few months back that was black and white and came with a little striped belt…very adorable.
I like the sweater the model has on in the email – but that is the black sweater, not the grey. Funny, I spell grey with an "e" also. Dark, charcoal grey is my most favorite color, so while I was initially excited to see the email, I was disappointed that there wasn't more dark grey. It is hard to find dark charcoal. There is a lot of heather grey, which I don't like.I do like the grey bedding. I really could use new bed linens. My daughters room finally looks finished, now it's probably time I treat myself (and my husband too) to real matching bedding. Oh, and a paint job for the room too.
Grey, grey, grey — yes, that is how it should be spelled! I love wearing grey. It's hard to stop buying it. Cute coasters. 🙂
goldenmeans, could the cotillion slip be worn over another slip as a dress? it is too cute, but i wonder about the feel and fit …
