Email: Outfit academia

I have to admit the theme of Anthropologie’s latest outfit collective is pretty cute. Arts & Sciences spun with a fall twist? Intriguing. Of course being a few years removed from school helps on the nostalgia front. Anthro sent an email about the new outfits yesterday. Natalie beat them to the punch over on Anthropologie Addict so I picked just a few of my faves to highlight. I have been gushing over the clothes recently and this is another set I quite like.

In the outfit above, I love how the colors of the Tick-Tock Cardigan ($98) are called out in the Verite Dress ($158), the Woven Rush Tights ($18) and the Flaxen Wedges ($138). I saw the Flaxen Wedges in-store but didn’t have time to try them on. I’ll be heading back in the next couple of days to give them a go. I love the double straps around the ankles. The Discus Bloom Necklace ($44) rounds out this set.

Oh man I’m totally stealing this outfit’s proportions with my Plaid Sailor Shorts (now $30). The High Speed Cardigan ($128) is made by Charlotte, the same folks that made the wonderful Elodie Lily Cardigan ($128) that is not-so-patiently waiting in my sweater drawer for colder days. The Morning Rituals Belt ($68) features a little squirrel and is made of suede. I’m going to reserve judgment until I see it in real life. I keep wondering what the catch is with Odille’s Season Stripe Button-Up ($78). Does it have a huge pattern on the back? (No.) Is the underside of the collar adorned with a vivid pattern? (No.) Are the cuffs hiding paisley or ikat? (No.) Seems like it’s just a basic shirt…unexpected for Anthropologie! Yet I really like it, especially in the green. The price is a bit hard to swallow. The Mullion Tights ($18) make several appearances in the outfit set while the Lifted Loafers ($298) polish off this preppy New England look. My little heart pitter patters for prep.

Does the model remind anyone else of Diane Lane in this shot? Very pretty. It’s great to see the Coiled Ribbon Necklace ($138) applied to an outfit because while I like it I couldn’t envision it in a real world outfit scenario. Now I can. Somebody must be a fan of pooches based on all the dog prints invading Anthropologie this fall like the Doggedly Devoted Cardigan ($168). The Kindest Cut Dress ($128) has a fan in my office. I tend to avoid sweater dresses but this one might work. Simplicity reigns in the Snakebite Belt ($32) though that’s not a bad thing. Consider wrapping it up with the Well-Groomed Oxfords ($148) over the Mullion Tights ($18) and violà! Très chic.

I’m a big fan of wide belts and the Grand Proportions Belt ($68) is no exception. I’m not sure I could rock the Forest Floor Vest ($88) and it’s kind of sad that it’s hiding the delightful Addy Dress ($148) which reminds me of a tutu. I hadn’t noticed the Pinwheel Tights ($18) before but now they’re yet another pair on my list…I think I have about $120 in tights on my Anthro wishlist at the moment. It’s sick. The Oberland Booties ($148) are not really to my taste but I love how they are utilized in this outfit. The finishing touch for this ensemble is the Nantucket Necklace ($42), which makes me long for a Carvel ice cream cake. There is only one component to this outfit that I really love yet as a whole it’s such a great look. This is why I need to make an appointment with one of Anthro’s stylists at some point. I’d never think to combine these pieces on my own.

Anonymous @ 1:21, not 100% sure on the employee discount but I think it is 40%. Which is on par with what other retailers offer. I don't know about stores in your area but the NYC stores are already doing open hires for fall into the holidays. I applied last year. It's actually a pretty rigorous process. Good luck if you apply! Anonymous @ 2:36, they are size 10s, which is my normal pant size. I could have gone with the 8s but since I plan to wear thick tights under them I sized up. Hope that helps!

Thanks Roxy & Anonymous @3:28! I'm in Southern CA & I know they recently hired new people. Not sure if if was for their seasonal positions or not. Hopefully not. Good luck Roxy! Hope you get hired.
