Email: A dress that’s ripe for the picking.

Shape from a sweaterdress? Is it possible? From the looks of the Aramena Dress ($148) the answer might just be yes. Anthropologie’s email today presents a formal introduction.

I’ll admit I passed this dress by in-store last week mostly because it looked like the top would be unflattering. But the reviews are overwhelmingly positive so perhaps it’s time to put judgment aside and let this dress be another example of stepping outside my comfort zone a bit. Plus, how darling is the styling in the email? I love how the dress is outfitted with the Danver Necklace ($48), the Mullion Tights ($18) and the Winding Ruffle Boots ($258). The thought crosses my mind to sub in the Blazing Tweed Pumps ($98) but otherwise this outfit is perfect.

Have you tried on the Aramena Dress?

i love your blog 🙂 i too share an addition for anthro, stalk the site daily, and would prefer the majority of my wardrobe to be furnished from the store…i have wondered about this dress…it looked like it might give a dropped waist effect? on another note…i want whoever does the models' hair to fix mine everyday. so effortless, yet 'done'. http://www.beautifullybrokenprojects.blogspot.com

I've seen that dress in person, but I haven't had a chance to try it on yet. It reminds me of last year's Mazzola sweater dress–except with shorter sleeves–which I didn't find flattering around the stomach. But I'll definitely be giving the red version a shot.By the way, do you happen to remember which catalogue (if any) the Hyacinth Trail Wrap Dress was featured in? I know I bought it in August 2008, but I can't find it in any catalogue.

Thanks Lindsay. I agree, I would love for an Anthro stylist to come help me dress and preen for a week. :)AL, I don't remember seeing the Hyacinth Trail Wrap Dress in any of last year's catalogs, but I do remember an outfits set on the website that had it. I'll see if I can dig up any photos.
