Hello, hello! Matched with the Puckered & Pleated Cardigan ($128) and the Coyure Necklace ($158) to great effect, the Crashing Waves Dress ($148) was featured in Connecticut stores last weekend while I was up there and the NYC stores are no different.
And why not? It’s such an exquisite dress. The skirt resembles a snow leopard print from further away while a closer inspection reveals something more like cellular mitosis. This gives way to an ombre in jewel-toned blue. It sounds like it shouldn’t work but it’s a glorious effect.
I just wish it looked better on. This is a medium and I wonder if a large would have been better (after some tailoring). The silk was great — flowy and smooth and everything silk should be. The problem with the fit is in the bust. Specifically that my bust takes up the entire bodice and uh, I don’t think it’s supposed to. It caused the skirt to rise up ends up making me look wider than I am. It’s not terrible but I can’t imagine this is the look Maeve was going for. This might be fixable with a minimizing bra and a size large.
Here I am from the side. Close but no cigar. The one product reviewer on the site noted that the straps were too long on her but I did not share that issue. I think I will go back and try this on in a large at some point — if I can get the scoop to sit low enough I wear a blouse underneath it to winterize it.
I wasn't a big fan of that sweater but it does look gorgeous paired with a dress like that…
I agree. I keep thinking Jedi Robe from the product photo but they keep styling it really well.
what shoes did you decided to pair with your dress?
