Moonlit Lustre

In the endless debate between gold vs. silver jewelry I come down solidly on the silver side. Gold brings an expensive, tasteful quality to be sure but silver says young and scrappy to me. Anthropologie is featuring a new set of jewelry with an almost coal-like silvery tone that really does seem to be inspired by the light of the moon.

Where to even begin? There are so many interesting choices. Perhaps with the Bougainvillea Necklace ($42) which is named after…a purple flower? I have seen this style of necklace everywhere from Forever 21 to Henri Bendel but this is one of the better interpretations. What is with the ribbon ties though? Are they made from the drawstrings of hoodies? For a slightly more romantic spin you can tie the necklace right above one of the beading details and let the ribbon spill down the front of your shirt as demonstrated here.

Hello Rock Star. Don’t mind me in the white room while I just slip on my Sparkle & Dazzle Cuff ($24) to polish off this outfit. This one comes in either silver or gold and fits solidly into my own personal “where the heck was this when I was in a band???” category of exasperation. Truth is you could glam this up with black pants and a studded tee but you could also dress it up with jewel-toned silk dress for evening. Beware of metal detectors though. And magnets.

Stocked with beautiful facets, the Luminaire Necklace ($158) is gasp-worthy. I am not sure I love the sequined mesh strap but with my hair down who would see it anyway? I’d want to see this in person to verify that the crystals look realistic and not like cheap glass but assuming everything checks out this could one of the go-to layers for colder days.

The final piece to catch my eye was the Serpentine Ring ($38) with its coils and loops and protruding notches. It’s a little bit mystical, a little bit rawk star and a lot of grrr contrasted by delicate jewels to fool anyone into thinking you’re harmless. I love it!

ah, i was jut contemplating a post on the bougainvillea necklace! i adore the chains in the front, but i agree — what a weird tie. maybe they are replaceable or something.i must admit i like the luminaire necklace's strap! i love gaudy sequins though 😉 if the stones are anything like the ones in the baccarat necklace (which has similar cut gems, just a little smaller), i expect the quality will be quite nice.
