Reviews: Roxy tries on (practically) everything in the store, part I

Pity the fitting room staff because I am on a mission to try on 1,000,000 items of clothing in the next month or so. Well, not really. It just feels that way. I am scouring stores helping my talented stylist friend pick up fall clothing for her clients. And of course my friend has sent me to Anthropologie to check out the goods (and the bads). I may have also used the time to try on some (many) things for myself.

Let’s start with the Peeking Posies Tank ($78, above) by Storee. I spotted it on a mannequin and had to try it. It’s a two-layered wonder with a floral print as the base and a royal purple overlayer. It’s also got drop-waist ruching.

It was a pain to get the underlayer to sit correctly in the fitting room. I never quite could get it to look just right. I like the pattern of it and the purple was just lovely. But the drop waist wasn’t very flattering. I wish the line was more empire and less right across the hips. The medium fit fine but I wasn’t impressed enough to buy.

In a similar vein was the Helianthus V-Neck ($58) by C.Keer. Though it also had the drop waist this one was a lot easier to blouse out for a more flattering shape. I would pair this with either leggings and flats for the arty hipster look or straight leg jeans and heels for the slightly dressier option.

I also really like the beadesque thread details around the neckline, as shown in my lovely cell phone camera photo above. This top in a medium was a little too big on me so I would purchase it in a small.

Another top that drew me in was the Soundwaves Tank ($78). I tried on the Sanctuary top in both the blue and multi varieties. Oddly enough, I felt like the blue version wasn’t especially flattering in a small but I just loved the multi version! I am pleased with the slightly thicker straps on the top which really balance well against the shoulders. The fixed hem isn’t too bubbly so I felt like the black pattern made me look long and lean. A winner that made it out the door with me.

Part II will be dresses and skirts. Have you tried on any of these items?

Hi! Love your blog! I also bought the soundwave top in black and love it! 🙂 Looking forward to reading your reviews of skirts/dresses!

Too bad about the first top… I had it in my hand and almost tried it on… I hesitated because of the fact that it DOES have that double layer. I've had a top like that before and it never did sit right. I looked like an idiot constantly fussing with it. But it looks so prettyyyyy!
