Anthropologie wallpaper takes over HGTV

Room shots from “Color Splash” (top)
& “Dear Genevieve

I hope you had a lovely Easter or are enjoying a good Passover (or both). Me? I spent a rainy NYC Saturday watching home improvement shows. I was sucked in by two shows in particular that featured the same Anthropologie wallpaper. First, “Dear Genevieve” did a basement makeover that was simply Anthrotastic. She made three different areas in the basement, one of which featured the wallpaper. It honestly looked like it had been pulled from the pages of an Anthro catalogue. So much so that I was this close to breaking a few clauses of my lease by asking Ms. G to come redo my apartment in the same style. A couple of hours later David Bromstad was waving his magic paintbrush over another couple’s dining room using the same amazing Anthropologie wallpaper. A completely different aesthetic but the results were similarly awesome.

I would love to link you to videos of these alluring, inspirational rooms or show you more than just the one tiny photo of each above but HGTV is so not with the program here. Each show has some videos and some full episodes on their website but not the relevant ones. And no photo galleries either. Not even a before and after. No repeats any time soon. Notta.

So instead here’s the photo Anthropologie used to showcase the wallpaper. I love it! It’s not for the faint of heart but really are any of Anthro’s home pieces? It’s neutral in palette yet bold in statement. If I had a library I would use that wallpaper in there. There’s a slight Victorian feel to it, no? And an expert could lay it out seamlessly. Does it appeal to you as well, or am I alone in my drooling?

The last photo…. drooling! That simple little pendant lamp just sets it all together! Amazing! Now just who can I call to get them to come to MY house!!!

I love trees, but I don't like wallpaper with images of trees because it repeats. The repetition reminds me of old computer game textures or desktop wallpapers, but in a bad way. It's very unnatural.Very stylized trees would be a different story, like art nouveaux or something. But repeating realistic images is just tacky.

If you want the look of the wallpaper in your apartment, a great alternative I found is using IKEA's Anno Unni print curtains. They have less detail, but the same over all look.
