OOTD: Spring whites

Something about all-white outfits makes me feel like a kid again. And distressed white jeans are my favorites right now! New outfit, new subway station, it’s all coming together inside…

Sweater: Club Monaco | Jeans: Mother (also 1 // 2 // 3, perfect for curves, size down, also loving these)
Shoes: J. Crew | Clutch: Madewell | Rings: Anthropologie 1 // 2 // 3 | Watch: Apple
Lashes: The Lash Loft — if you’re a NYC local use my link for a special new customer offer!!
photos: Bekka Palmer

In January Manhattan got its first large-scale subway line extension in 70+ years, and it was much needed! The Upper East Side, formerly served by just one line (while the Upper West Side has 7, for comparison) now has three shiny new stations on the Q train along Second Ave. My first grown up apartment was on 76th St between 3rd and 2nd, and let me tell you that this line was sorely needed! Even though I live in Brooklyn now, the Q extension has made it incredibly easy and relatively quick to get to the Upper East Side — about 30 minutes, which is remarkable!

The MTA hired artists to deck out the mezzanine levels of each station, and you’ll get to see all 3 in upcoming OOTDs. First up, the 72nd St/2nd Ave stop, which features mosaics of everyday people and balloons too! It seemed like the perfect fresh spot to shoot this outfit, which is also shiny an new.

I’m thinking it might be time to change my hair — have you made a big hair change lately? What do you recommend?

I think if you're curvy you can stick with your regular size or one size down. Straighter figures may need to size down more, I'm not sure (I fall into the first group).

I have those jeans and love them so much. I'm kind of bummed the 26 is sold out, because that's the size I really need (which means I would be sizing down 2 sizes to really get the proper fit).

I figured the smallest sizes would sell out first since they run large, but I find I can wear my normal size or one size down (I'm in the higher size range). I really like these a lot though for sure. The wash is really pretty.

To me, the Painterly Buttondown is wonderful compared to those diaper pants!

Why are sale shoes not getting the additional 30% off?

    • Stefanie
      March 13, 2017 / 7:03 am

Theyre on promo, not ” sale”.

  3. Anthropolitan
    March 13, 2017 / 7:06 am

I'm glad that nothing on my wishlist went on sale, because I'd have been really annoyed to wake up to find that something I wanted hit sale but was 30% more expensive this morning than it was last night.

Just stop it with the games, already, Anthropologie….

    • March 13, 2017 / 7:38 am

I hear you! I expected to wake up this morning and find that the extra 30% off had been extended one day. This leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Ick!

I agree for anyone who missed it. I stay up late a lot so I tend to catch these things.

  4. March 13, 2017 / 8:04 am

I would not be surprised if Anthropologie throws some kind of promotional bone at us in the event this blizzard they're predicting is as bad as they're saying. :p

I know, the prices on my wishlists now only show the sale price and not the original price unless I click on each item, so unless I remember which ones are on sale I can't even tell. I told customer service about it but they just told me to click on each item to see the original price (in other words, they were no help at all).

    • Dina
      March 13, 2017 / 8:56 am

Actually the problem isn't knowing which items are on sale since they all end in .95, but it's still nice to be able to see the original price without having to click on each item individually. I don't know why they changed it, but I wish they would change it back!

I ended up getting one thing last night for in store pickup. Was on the fence about it but I figured ordee now or lose the 30%. I went through all the markdowns and that was the only thing I found.

Oh my. I will need to find somewhere else to buy my Spring wardrobe as these items are pretty hideous and this top is definitely not worth $235.

    April 7, 2017 / 5:05 pm

I agree with evb on starting with a big trim (versus big chop) when you've got such lovely long locks. I'm still growing out a short cut that I loved but the growing out part is not fun!

Love the combo of your outfit with those amazing mosaics and the bright walls! Cute manicure too.

    • April 7, 2017 / 9:59 pm

Understood, and agreed that a big chop might be too much for me. I am wondering about adding more dimension to my hair with some highlights or biolage or something…

      • Shari
        April 9, 2017 / 12:16 pm

Biology would be a good idea and maybe a few inches off. I recently let a new salon (I use just for cutting) do something new and am so glad I did, best cut ever.

You look beautiful!!! Love the shoot location and wardrobe combination. A little sad that the ring is sold out, it's just what I need *sigh* but the boring way Anthro showcases their jewelry I'd never known it was so fab.

    • April 7, 2017 / 10:00 pm

Thank you! I'm so shocked the ring is gone!! I feel like so many of the things I buy to feature in OOTDs sell out before i can post, which is frustrating because I want to share but also in a way reassuring that I make good clothing choices I guess?!? 🙂

  22. April 7, 2017 / 5:34 pm

So pretty! White is like the ultimate color to wear right about now.

    • April 8, 2017 / 12:50 pm

      Agreed!

  23. April 7, 2017 / 5:57 pm

Thank you, they stretch a ton so make sure you size down!

  24. April 7, 2017 / 5:57 pm

    Thanks Amanda!

  25. April 7, 2017 / 5:58 pm

Thanks evb! A trim is definitely in my future.

    • evb
      April 8, 2017 / 1:19 am

the other thing is if you want to make a big change, you can do it a little bit over a few months and get used to the idea. Like trim then shoulder length, then add bangs, then change your part, then add highlights, then add color, then add extensions!

      • Ann
        April 8, 2017 / 7:00 am

No! Stuff it, don't go gradually into the dark night…go for a chop! Take loads off, go punk rock, go pixie, go mad, it's very freeing when you're ready to shake things up.
        Experience talking here.
        AND it grows back.

Love the second shot – you look so pretty! Does Club Monaco ever have sales? Hoe does that sweater fit? Is it itchy?

  27. April 8, 2017 / 8:52 am

They do! In fact I'm anticipating a Friends & Family sale there soon. The sweater runs a little big through the shoulders and arms but I stuck with my true size because it's such a straight shape and I am curvy, I needed that extra room at the bottom.

Not itchy at all. But I am not allergic to cashmere or wool.

    • luvlucytoo
      April 8, 2017 / 1:42 pm

White on white looks have always been a favorite! I have dark hair like you too, but usually lighten it up a bit for the Spring and Summer. I figure I can always dye it back dark if I don't like it or get sick of it, so maybe try that?!!
