Wooo Anthro Day! Ordered the Vera Silk maxi dress for an upcoming wedding so this promo couldn't have come at a better time! I'm 5 months pregnant though so sizing is SO tricky unfortunately. Makes me long for the days I knew my size and could guarantee to be the same size in a month lol!

    • March 17, 2017 / 12:40 am

Heck, I'm NOT pregnant and figuring out my size at Anthro is tricky these days. Hopefully the dress is perfect for you! ??

I ordered the libra embroidered tunic dress. I would never have noticed this dress online but ended up trying in store today. It is lovely and runs very true to size! Its a bit bohemian with large bell sleeves but fits well through the rest of your body and has a lovely silky material.

Yes.. sizing is all over. I have bought everything from xs to xl. in petite that too! I rarely get it right at once.

Just placed a ginormous order and hoping I don't have to return all of it! This trumps my birthday discount but wish I could combine the 2. Oh well, you can't win 'em all right?

Very very excited about this as there are some new items I love! Has anyone tried on the Kinsey off the shoulder dress and know if it will work on the shoulder instead ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looks adorable, but I don't do off the shoulder. Thanks!!!

    • March 17, 2017 / 9:34 am

It won't work on the shoulder unfortunately. It's like some of Anthro's off the shoulder tops where the arms are not one continuous piece, so if you try to lift it up the arms won't stay up. It's OTS-only.

      It IS super cute though!

I agree this is my second choice if I decide I don't like the zora

I want to be excited. I like some tees and the traveler pullover. Why can't they also give us free shipping? The few things I'm contemplating are either online only or not available in my size at my local store, but shipping costs almost negate the savings. I guess I'll go to the store and have them order for me if there is anything I like.
(Once shipping is factored in, the savings on a $78 tee is less than $7, sorry just can't do it.)

I've been eyeing the zora dress for a wedding in late april but I still feel like it's a lot at $143. I've tried it on twice. I'm wondering if it will go on sale before april 29 which is when I need it…

Totally OT, but has anyone seen the new-ish IG called Anthropologie of Yore…? it's still sparse but reminds me of some of those old blogs that used to have old Anthro catalog shots

    • March 17, 2017 / 9:37 am

Old blogs like this one? ๐Ÿ™‚ It's hard to feel inspired by their catalogues these days, but I do share pics from Anthro that inspire me still!

  9. March 17, 2017 / 9:37 am

Me too! Their jewelry line has an excellent mix right now of delicate, luxe, classic and trendy. Why can't they do that well with the clothing??

Hooray for PAs! Probably won't shop anymore this weekend, but happy to have gotten a PA on a jacket I just ordered.

I've actually placed two orders (free shipping day) and added a few things to my Wish List over the last few weeks–seems like ages since I've done that!

  11. March 17, 2017 / 2:15 pm

mmm…I've been waiting to buy myself any of the sublime Suite One studio ceramics, so I hiked through the snow to the local store for a gorgeous plate and bowl. I wish they had more clothing in stock to look at- the selection is pretty sparse these days, though they're doing their best to make attractive displays!

I agree! There are several things I cannot wait to try in the new arrivals that have come out in the past week or two. Maeve is doing well and I'm so happy to see some floreat items – it seems like there haven't been too many lately. I just wish more of these new items were showing up in my local stores – the sizing is tough to predict.

Is there an official policy from home office on charge sends? Most stores do them but I'm bumping heads with one that won't do it. Is it up to the individual store's discretion? Unfortunately the item I want is only in stock at this particular store….??

      March 18, 2017 / 12:40 am

My local store won't take credit card orders over the phone because of the new chips.

      • Dina
        March 18, 2017 / 12:44 am

Oh but they said they will do them if you buy a gift card and then use that to do the phone order, so maybe try that instead of using your credit card?

    • Barbara
      March 18, 2017 / 12:41 am

I recommend buying an e gift card online. You will get it almost immediately and you can use that to do your charge send. There should be NO reason they would deny you with this form of payment. I am surprised they didn't suggest that option to you. It makes me mad when some stores are so snooty about this stuff and others are just wonderful. Silly.

      • Dina
        March 18, 2017 / 4:45 pm

I agree with Lois that the problem with using a gift card is if you return it you're stuck with a gift card instead of getting your money back. I don't like that either. The only way I would do that is if I'm sure I'm going to keep the item.

    • Dina
      March 18, 2017 / 12:41 am

I was under the impression that with the new credit cards with chips that most stores won't do them anymore?

      • Dina
        March 18, 2017 / 12:42 am

but guess I'm wrong because Lois said most stores still do them. Good to know!

        • Lois
          March 18, 2017 / 9:21 am

I don't want to go so far as to say most stores do them, rather let's say that I no longer experienced the push back as when the chips were first introduced. The store did offer me the gift card option but if the item doesn't fit I'll be “stuck” with a $250 GC.

What about catalog orders? I've not done one in years, but don't they take credit card info over the phone? How is that any different from doing a charge send?

          • March 18, 2017 / 9:43 am

I want to clarify about the charge/sends. This policy is coming not because of Anthro's desires, but out of a change made by the credit card companies back in October of 2015.

You can read more about it here: http://effortlesslywithroxy.com/2015/

Based out of the changes credit card companies made, which now put the onus on RETAILERS to prevent fraud in ways that are impossible for most businesses, Anthropologie made a business decision to kill charge/sends.

When they saw how badly it was hurting business, they rolled them back out in select larger stores. The last I heard from store employee blue birdie friends of mine, and this may no longer be accurate, is that stores are allowed to do charge/sends at the discretion of the District Manager.

            March 18, 2017 / 11:32 am

Nice to know it might be a discretionary thing but I hate it when company policy is inconsistent. Even more I hate when it's not logical. They take phone orders which requires a rep to manually key in your cc info. When you shop online you key in the cc info. In both those situations the chip doesn't come into play. I'm an Anthro member and item will be sent to my home address which is the same as my billing address and they can ring/key the info directly into the register as I read it to them over the phone as opposed to writing it on an order form (which I agree would be insecure). Tell me what I'm missing here…

          • March 18, 2017 / 11:40 am

Most likely when you are placing a catalogue order you're at home, so no strangers are there to overhear and write down your credit card info. Versus calling into a store where there could be many other people overhearing it.

I agree it's not logical or consistent, but I do understand why Anthro is doing it as a business policy. Those fines are no joke!

I'm 5'4″ and short waisted and did not need the petite. I took my regular small.

Also, I remember it came down about an inch past the waistband of my pants. Low enough for me to not show any skin when I raised my arms up over my head.

I really wish they had more jewelry in store. I know I probably would have picked up another item or 2 if I could have seen it IRL. It's so much easier to talk myself out of buying something if I have to order it online.

I have heard so many stories like that, Dina, and that is why I will never buy breakable home goods online from Anthro. I've had jewelry arrive broken because it was just put into one of those flimsy little felt pouches and folded into an item of clothing – of course it came loose from the clothing during shipment. J crew puts their jewelry in individual boxes, wrapped the boxes in bubble wrap and then put that into a box – even Lucky individually wraps each piece of jewelry in bubble wrap – I don't know what it is with Anthro and packaging, especially since they are one of the few companies that still charges for shipping.

Thankfully it was only $15 plus I got the shipping waived and a refund for the 2 broken ones. The only other time I ordered something like that were some latte bowls a few weeks ago and those got here fine. Not gonna forget about it anytime soon though!

I got a Dandelion Lace Top, Wanderer Cargo Pants in the marbled green color, Marlowe Paisley Blouse, Embroidered Gingham Top and because I can never get enough paisley I'm trying the Pilcro Stet Mid-Rise Jacquard Skinny Jeans in color named RKT0872 Paisley (not sure why just “paisley” wouldn't do).

I am not really buying much from Anthro recently (mostly their older stuff in resell groups), but I did buy the Chrissy Embroidered Tunic Dress and managed to get a PA. It was out a week or less and sold out entirely, and that was before Anthro Day. I really think it's because so few offerings are catching people's eye that, when those token items appear, people grab them quickly.
