The best of Boden’s 2nd/3rd/etc Cuts

Still shopping for Summer? Me too, and I’m delighted to share that Boden has upped the ante on its Clearance Sale, taking 2nd/3rd/etc cuts that make their sale items up to 70% off. If you’ve been waiting on pretty dresses and such now is the ideal time to pick them up — I just grabbed another colorway in the Crossover Ruched Dress for $33 (I take a 12 in the dress, it runs very small!) and decided to give the Antonia Sandals (now $55, hoping my usual size 39/9 works) a shot.

Note that this sale is now FINAL SALE, so there’s some calculated risk involved. If I ask nicely Boden has never said no to taking stuff back but there is no guarantee. With highly rated items like the Summer Wrap Dress (now $34-$78, above) receiving deep cuts it’s high time for some fun sale shopping! I own this dress in the solid green color in an 8 regular. It travels well being wrinkle resistant and is easy to dress up or down.

I might place a second order because I’m first seeing cute items like the Sienna Sandal (now $44-$54, above) that could still get plenty of wear this year. The dress shown here is sadly sold out.

I was inspired to take the plunge on the reviewless Antonia Sandals (now $55) shown above with the Mini Tassel Pouch Bag (now $69) after seeing this photo from Boden’s Instagram account. I highly recommend checking out their feed to see their items, including many that were just reduced, on a variety of beautiful women of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities.

A few other items from Boden I own, love and wish I’d gotten at their current clearance deals:
1 – The Two-Part Court (now $75-$90) in yellow has been my go-to pump this summer! I took a 40 in these, which is my usual pump size at Boden (for some reason I take a 39 in their flats and a 40 in their pumps).
2 – The Casual Jersey Dress (now $24-$48) comes in several colors, but my favorite has to be the navy mosaic pattern which is a total steal at $33! I took an 8 regular in this dress.
3 – The Ruth Jersey Dress (now $36-$60) is a fantastic work dress that does after-work duty equally well. An ideal length for conservative offices without slipping into dowdy or matronly territory. I own the Raven Daisy Bed which is $60 in a size 10 regular. If you’re busty like me I advise sizing up; if you’re small busted (B or below) I advise you skip this one.
4 –  The Carin Dress (now $72-$120) has event and work potential. I took a size 10 regular in this one.

Sizes and items are selling out quickly; here are my picks based on current availability as of this writing. Happy Sale Shopping! If you have questions about fit ask in the comments and I will try to help.

Thanks for compiling this post, Roxy! I actually discovered through your blog post a few months ago. Ordered the Modern Denim dress a couple months ago, and I am loving it so much. I was just swooning after a few items since last few days but was not being able to pull to trigger up until now. Last week I ordered Katrina skirt (in both colors), Martha dress, Lara Wrap dress and Ottoman shift. Just keeping my fingers crossed that they all fit! If these items fit me well, Boden will be my go to place for almost all my clothes going forward.

That is the ultimate compliment Maya, thank you! As you probably know the Martha Dress is my all-time Boden fave, and I like the Ottoman Shift a lot too!

Super OT, but figured Roxy and the other ladies familiar with the industry might know. What is going on with Victoria's Secret? The stores have been bare (very little inventory) for at least a month, not even a good selection in the basics, the colors make no sense (all muted, mauve-y stuff for the summer?), the whole place feels deserted. I have never seen VS stores like that.

Their CEO has been paring back their offerings a lot; their sales have been suffering for the last several quarters. Unfortunately they killed their swim line, which was so awesome. That move made me really sad.

They also decided that they need to compete with companies that are making bralettes to appeal to a younger buyer (whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyy???) so they've been somewhat turning away from their regular bras, leaving all us busty ladies out in the cold, and condensing their overall offerings. I haven't been in a store in awhile but I would not be surprised if this strategy isn't working at all for them.

Thank you for that background info! Yes, I noticed a lot of bralettes. I personally cannot wear them either due to my cup size. I don't have a problem with bralettes as long as they still have normal bras, but they honestly don't have much of either right now! A few months back they had a bralette/bra morph with underwires and I would have been able to pull those off. Just as I decided to buy one, I don't see them in store anymore. I can't say I shop at VS often, but I kinda need some bras and was looking forward to some fun ones. Safe to say, they won't be from VS. I love aerie for their fun colors and they fit ok; not like the European brands, but no worse than VS either. No aerie stores near me, but I am going on a trip next week and looking forward to visiting one there 🙂
