Playing the Sale Outfit Game

There are enough sales to put together a beautiful Spring wardrobe!
Anthropologie is offering an extra 25% off sale items right now.

Even though Spring has just begun, many retailers already have their warm weather delights on sale! One of my favorite games to play is combing though the various sale sections to come up with complete outfit combinations.

Inside, taking a look at some of my favorite retailers’ sale sections to share some looks…

The Paisley Pleated Dress ($148 + 40% off) is a great outfit starter from Banana Republic.

1| Anthropologie | The deal: take an extra 25% off sale items. | The Outfit: We begin with the Gracie Mini Skirt (now $80 + 25% off) topping this post. This cute mini runs true to size and feels longer on thanks to that bottom flounce. Our sale outfit continues with the Mel Ringer Tank (now $40 + 25% off) and the Patched Utility Jacket (now $80 + 25% off) on top which both have a casual vibe, paired with the Initial Script Necklace (now $30 + 25% off) and Sophora Earrings (now $40 + 25% off). Now we’ve got a good mix of dressier and casual items going on in this everyday look. To top it off, I’d add the Bettye Muller Christina Espadrilles (now $150 + 25% off), a comfy pair of blush-toned espadrilles that complement the other elements of this outfit nicely, the Realism Watch (now $130 + 25% off) for its delicate and sparkly look, and the Reversible Leather Tote (now $110 + 25% off), which would be worn sparkly-side-out on the days you want extra attention and matte side out on the days you want to blend in a bit more. (And if you want to go for a pop of color, get the green version of the bag instead of the pink one!)

2 | Banana Republic | The deal: Take 40% off your purchase. | The Outfit: The main piece of this outfit is the delightful, cheerful bright navy Paisley Pleated Dress ($148 + 40% off), which makes a great work dress, brunch dress, out and about dress, or event dress. I’d pair the dress with the comfy and well-made Merino Ribbed Pointelle Cardigan ($78 + 40% off), and the sky is the limit in terms of which color to choose! I’d lean towards a lighter blue myself but violet, yellow and white would also work equally well. I think this look would be divine with the Crisscross Sandal ($78, excluded from promo) in rose gold but if you want a sale option then I’d go for the Knotted Slingback Heel ($138 + 40% off). Let the Delicate Color Cluster Built In Necklace ($48 + 40% off) and the Italian Leather Double-Zip Pouch Crossbody ($118 + 40% off) finish off your beautiful look!

You could easily take home this entire look for the navy version of the Elena Dress (now $160)!
I’ve got an idea for the ivory version from Boden below.
This outfit: Dress | Shoes | Sweater | Clutch

3 | Boden | The deal: Take 20% off dresses via this special link. | The Outfit: How gorgeous is the new Elena Dress (now $144 to $160)? The ivory version would work spectacularly with the cropped Alana Cardigan (now $86), the Midi Tassel Pouch Bag (now $180) and the Ramona Heels (now $162). Instant work to date night look! There’s so much to love at Boden right now — I’m gaga over this sweater — we’ll take a deeper look this week.

4 | J. Crew | The deal: Take 25% off your purchase. Code: HOPTOIT. Their sale is an extra 40% off, or 50% off final sale, too. | The Outfit: I really love my Garment-dyed safari shirt-jacket ($98 + 25% off) and I think you will too! Go for the faded blossom, a lovely blush pink. Pair that with the New linen T-shirt in metallic ($50 + 25% off) and the Vintage crop jean in destroyed white ($115 + 25% off), and now we’ve got a fun take on ‘safari’. To keep the outfit modern and chic and not too costumey, let’s add the Colette suede d’Orsay pumps ($248 + 25% off) in ashen brown (you see the powder blue on me all the time, most recently here, they are ultracomfy and true to size!); the Piper sunglasses ($118 + 25% off) in mist — another OOTD fave of mine most recently seen here — and the Beaded flutter earrings ($58 + 25% off) in white. What a fun daytime look this would be!

5 | Madewell | The deal: Take an extra 30% off sale with the code DREAMBIG. | The Outfit: Let’s start this look with the Chambray Cold-Shoulder Dress (now $70 + 30% off), a cute and comfy dress that can be dressed up or down. I’d pair the dress with the versatile Cary Sandal in Suede (now $100 + 30% off) and the Marfa Saddlebag (now $130 + 30% off). Accent this look with the Succulent Earrings (now $20 + 30% off) and the Moonbeam Necklace Set (now $23 + 30% off). If it’s cold out, the Backstage Cardigan Sweater (now $40 + 30% off) would be a great top layer!

Today is the last day for an extra 30% off Madewell Sale! Get all my picks here.

6 | LOFT | The deal: Take 50% off everything and get free shipping, online only. Code: CYBER. | The Outfit: Wearing the Tidal Stripe Strappy Cami ($45 + 50% off) with the Tidal Stripe Seamed Skirt ($60 + 50% off) makes an insta-dress that I adore! I use the Scalloped Stretch Belt ($50 + 50% off) and the Multistrand Pendant Necklace ($40 + 50% off) to complete the look. Polish it all off with the Lace Up Heels (now $80 + 50% off).

I have an OT question. When you order something in an Anthro store do you pay for it in the store or do you get charged for it when it's shipped?

I tried this one when it first came out..would have been all over it,but the front chest area made me look pregnant…(which, there is nothing wrong with that..but I'm 52 🙂 and wasn't going for that. It was one of the better made dresses I've seen lately. Lucky for others!

i had the same issue with this dress and many other dresses and shirts this year. I would rather shop my own closet than settle for new things that i don't love or feel fabulous on! I'm not finding this year's trends to be particularly flattering to my figure (large bust) so i've accepted the fact that i probably won't buy much this year.

I suspect this is going to also fit me the same way and I'll be returning it. I should have it in a day or two.

It also seems everyone else who left reviews so far love this dress, because there are no bad reviews at all. I'm surprised so far no one mentioned that it doesn't look good on them.

I was able to keep adding to it. I was surprised at that myself.

I found the cutest dress at Target for only $29.95 plus I got $5 off (check for any coupons online) and shipping is free with $25 and over. It even has a separate liner slip and the color is gorgeous and the quality is great. It fits TTS:

There's also a great black t-shirt maxi dress that I got that I haven't tried on yet, also $29.99. Anthro would sell both of these for over $100 each.
