Spring is in Full Bloom at Madewell!

Madewell’s Spring collection: comfy, wearable, flattering and highly cute!

It’s a toss-up for who has the cutest Spring line this year, but Madewell has to be near the top of the list! Their Spring collection is full of cheery, flattering, easy-to-wear delights that have me clamoring for more. I recently teamed up with them to shoot some Spring OOTDs which I’m very excited to share with you next week or the week after, but in the meantime let’s take a look at some of the items on my Madewell wishlist…

I own the green version of this jacket, and it’s so wonderful on! Look for it in my OOTDs next week.
Fits TTS.
It’s possible to have a cute monotone look that’s not a romper! (Thank god it’s not a romper.)
This top is oversized — I went down a size to try it on.
It’s the back of this top that makes it so special! Would look amazing over jeans too.

Here are the other latest additions to my Madewell wishlist:
1 | The Tendril Chain Necklace ($25) is simple, cute, and goes with so many of Madewell’s Spring necklines.
2 | I wasn’t very impressed by the River & Thread jeans I tried on, but the Cali Demi-Boot Jeans in Pure White: Distressed Edition ($135) are amazing! Great fit, flattering on curves, and perfect for showcasing cute shoes. They are not as flared as they look on the model; they have a gentle boot cut. They fit true to size.
3 | As much as I just want to ditch all of my sweaters, NYC stays pretty chilly until at least mid-April. So items like the Side-Tie Pullover Sweater (now $60), Wafflestitch Drawstring Sweater (now $50) and Brownstone Side-Button Sweater (now $50) have an early Spring vibe and will pair well over shorts too.
4 | I need the Side-Tie Sweater-Tank (65) — possibly in every color!
5 | The Whisper Cotton Scoop Tank Top in Coretta Stripe ($20) is so great in both colors. Hits right on the hip and goes with everything. You’ll see this on me next week in my OOTDs.

Want more Madewell? I rounded up a bunch of their early Spring delights (the promo in that post is now expired).

Good Morning! I have a question about the Eloise Top, which I've been thinking about getting for weeks now. My issue is that my upper arms are a bit thick and my shoulders are somewhat broad, so some sleeveless tops don't look great on me. What are your thoughts on how the top fits related to arms and shoulders? Thanks!

    • April 26, 2017 / 9:46 am

My shoulders are also somewhat broad, and I think the Eloise Top is quite flattering on! The thicker straps help. As far as concerns about the upper arms, I think you'd be fine because the straps tilt outwards towards the shoulders, rather than cutting in towards the chin like some tank tops do.

Ordered the Eloise top, denim chino skirt and the Allegra dress. It's almost sold out again. Hope they work out, especially the dress.

    • April 26, 2017 / 11:33 am

Great choices Lisa! I ordered the Allegra Dress too — here's hoping it ships. 🙂

Does anyone have experience with their leather bags? I'm so interested in the midi tassel bags, but they don't have any reviews yet… I'm a sucker for good quality supple leather!

    • April 26, 2017 / 1:30 pm

I would say it's decent to really good. What I like is most of their leather bags have some slight bumpy texture to them, so they don't mark up as easily as a softer sleeker leather would.

Regular lengths unless the dress is really short or tunic length, which barely happens at Boden.

I'm petite as well, usually about a 0p in most sizes. I haven't ordered anything from Boden yet but from browsing their website they do offer petite sizing for some of their styles. I'd assume that their regular sizes would be a gamble.

I have never seen many promotions around as I am seeing these days.
    JCrew 30%
    Macy's Friends and Family 30%
Talbots starting On April 27, 30%.

I am sure there are more promotions.
    Have a great day everyone,

      Sundance 15% off too.

This many good promotions this early in the week pretty much reads to me as spring clothes are not moving anywhere.

Love these picks! I ordered 3 skirts and 1 dress last week and can't wait to see how they look in person. One note: I no longer see the garment measurements for all sizes on the Boden website. Have they stopped listing those?

So, is free shipping on all orders with Anthro for three straight days unprecedented, or what?! And, I did not order ONE thing, unbelievable…

With no minimum or promo code required. Can't recall that ever happening before now.

Nothing for me either and I have a GC lol.

I ordered some cute new Pilcro light wash embroidered jeans today that are 20% off (all full price jeans are 20% off at Anthro starting today), plus I also used the 20% off code from the survey that I have reused several times already.

So I got an additional 20% off the already 20% off full price on jeans, the only problem is the shipping charge of course – the discounted price is around $95 and if anyone needs the 20% off code it's N224GTB7NFR and it's good until April 30 (and like I said, you can use it over and over either online or in store):

I love Boden and have been buying from them for several years. I am a similar size to you… 00 or 00P at Anthro and Banana Republic. I am about 5'3.5'', so on the borderline between petite and regular. I usually take a Boden US2P/UK6P for most items for which petite sizing is available. Lengthwise I find Boden's petite line a very good fit; the hemlines of petite garments tend to fall exactly where they should on me. I find their waistlines actually a bit on the high side, but not so much so that it is unflattering. However, I do have to comment that I am sized out of some of their clothing, it really depends on the individual garment and whether it is designed to be a bit tailored or loose-fitting. I generally find that relaxed cuts (even in petite sizing) are just too big on me, whilst more tailored items are often fine. I'd check Boden's fit comments on whether a garment is meant to be relaxed/semi-fitted/fitted; fitted and semi-fitted garments are usually the best bet, in addition to those that reviewers say are a bit snug. Generally, I find their dresses are a bit big for me (especially at the bust and waist), but most of their skirts are fine. This might be because I am slightly pear-shaped. Finally, I find their cashmere cropped cardigans an absolute godsend! They are absolutely the perfect size for a petite woman; I have about 7 of them and I'm not embarrassed to admit it.

pop-backs definitely happen, not as often as at JCrew though

I've had great luck with popbacks at Boden and have been able to score almost everything I've wanted eventually.

I'm 5'8″ with long legs and almost always get the tall size in bottoms at Boden.

I placed an order with Boden yesterday for the Virginie Ruffled Shirt, the Martha Dress, Hampshire Bootcut Pants, and the Linen Shirt in strawberry. I was disappointed that the Olive Blouse was sold out in the Meadow Green for my size. Otherwise I would have gotten that too. : )

I'm 5'10″ and have several Boden skirts. I order the regular size. I only have one dress. The wrap dress. I ordered the regular size in that too. Unfortunately, apart from the wrap dress, I don't think I can wear most of Boden's other dresses. Although they have “long” sizes, they don't carry “tall” sizes. So the waistline on their long sizes hits too high. If they carried tall sizes, they'd have to drop the waistline and not just the hemline. I find their long sizes to be too frumpy on me as they are usually too long. But if you like to dress modestly, then maybe go for the long sizes. I prefer lengths that hit at or slightly above the knee and not below the knee.

Boden does swimwear really well. I never thought I would wear a one piece but since most of my swim time is with a 2 and 3 year old I made the change. I have the faux wrap one in blue stripe and the Rhode on pink.

Boo hoo! All the A-Line skirts are sold out in my size: Rachel Chino Skirt, Katrina skirt, and Naomi A-line skirt. All non-American customers have to order from the UK web site, and stuff sells out fast! I usually try to wait for reviews on items, but they can sell out before there's feedback. (I think that I want them more now that they're sold out. lol)
However, their embroidered jeans look lovely, as do all their polka dot bikinis! Boden rocks the Casbah
