OOTD Double Shot: Pink Diamonds with Tulle and A Little Rumple Never Hurt Anyone

(Pink) diamonds — and tulle — are this girl’s best fashion friends.

As excited as I am for Spring, it was a confronting reality for my boyfriend and I when we returned to New York to balmy temperatures of about 3 degrees farenheit. So while Spring OOTDs are on the way stat, I have a few more winter looks to show you! Bonus — many of these pieces (especially the coats!) are now on sale, which makes building next winter’s closet all the easier.

It’s hard not be happy when wearing pink and tulle. While I love big tulle skirts, I can’t pull them off, so I’m delighted that this J.Crew cardigan lets me live the dream through slightly more adult means. The cardigan is also the perfect length to show just a few of the diamond-shaped cutouts which line both sides of the Club Monaco dress. There is so much to love at both of these retailers right now! It’s making me ever more excited for Spring. This outfit is great for work because of all the layers and because it’s a subtle palette that helps me escape into my office when I need to work on important reports without interruption! But I can’t go without a little pop of color, which comes via the big yet lightweight earrings and shoes, which I wish J.Crew would reissue!!

I felt inspired by Princess Kate to add some sheer tights to this look, both to keep my legs just a hint warmer and also to even out my pale wintery skintone. (I am now trying to hold on to my vacation tan as long as possible!!)

This coat and cardigan combo work so well together, here’s another, more casual take.

Coat: Club Monaco | Cardigan: J. Crew | Necklace: J. Crew | Pants: J. Crew
Shoes: J. Crew Factory | Sunnies: J. Crew | Bag: Free People

For take two, we’ve got the same top two layers with navy underneath. And what a killer casual combo this is! When I think of neutrals I generally think of navy, taupe, black and cream but blush is another great option. Playing around with tones of a color is one of my favorite tricks in dressing myself.

Unfortunately, sometimes the picture tells a tell I didn’t see in real life — I had no idea this cardigan got so rumply around the placket as I move! Yet in a strange way, with all that tulle, I think the rumple is kind of cute. To get around this in the future I’ll likely leave the cardigan mostly unbuttoned, or wear it over something less smooth than these very soft and slick twill zipper pants (that are so awesome!).

Thank you for including pictures with every item. I'm sure it takes a lot longer but I am so much more likely to click links when there is a picture (as I did with several items in this post. Love that Joie embroidered top.)

You're welcome! Now that I'm back to working full-time on top of the blog (and have been for awhile now) pics are not always possible as they double or triple the time it takes to write the post, but I agree with you that they are nice to have and when I have the time I'm sure to include them!! 🙂

I agree with everything you've said, yes it's trendy and probably not an item I'll be reaching for say 5 years from now, but I LOVE it so much right now and wear it so often that it's totally worth it.

Ted Baker!! On promo!! I love it — will be sure to include some picks in the next F&F post later this week. =)

Thanks for the post, Roxy 🙂
I think I'm sitting this one out..but love to look at what you posted. The Rebecca Taylor jacket is gorgeous.

(OT:I still can't see your blog rolls for some reason…any idea why they aren't showing?) Thanks 🙂

They're broken in Blogger. Blogger is the publishing tool I use (for a couple more weeks ??). It's totally out of my control.

I'd suggest using a free tool like Bloglovin, which will email you a snippet of and link to posts from blogs you choose.

This is OT but I just noticed Anthro stopped showing prices on their sold out items unless it's saved on your wishlist. I used to be able to look at either my order history and click on the item or do a Google search to find the item and its new price, but you can't do that anymore. The items just say “Sold Out” with no prices.

Not sure how anyone will get PAs now unless the item is still in stock or on your wishlist. I stopped saving everything to my wishlists because the prices showed on the items even if they were sold out (it would show 2nd/3rd cut prices, etc.), but unless they change it back, they all just say “Sold Out” now.

Will Nordstrom price-match the 25% off? One thing I want from Bloomies F&F sale is not available in my size but Nordstrom has it – but I also want the discount!

Here's Nordstrom's policy – call and ask if they'll include the 25% off (but I think where it says they don't include “Other retailers' discount promotions” that means the 25% off, but call to be sure):

      Competitor Price Matching
We are committed to offering you the best possible prices. If you find an item that we offer, in the same color and size, in stock at a similar retailer, we'll be glad to meet a competitor's price. Please call 1.888.282.6060 to place your order.

We are unable to match prices from auction, outlet and discount stores, non-U.S.-based stores and websites. Other retailers' discount promotions, shipping offers and gift card offers are also not eligible.

Oh I just love that Joie Mandel Embroidered Top! I am loving all the Mexican inspired blouses lately. Here's the thing – I am wondering if I can find almost the same blouses down in Olvera Street for a fraction of the cost. I may make field trip to find out!
