January is my favorite shopping month because of all the clearance sales (and all my birthday discounts!!), and as I acquire new clothing for my closet I need to pause every so often to make sure my accessories are up to snuff. I’m in just such a pause right now, looking to add some new purses and bags to my repertoire.
And right now is a great time to be looking because wow are there ever lots of pretty bags out there at easily digestible prices! I absolutely adore the Slouchy Vegan Tote ($68) above for its work utility (can hold paperwork, a laptop, or next to nothing and still looks great!) and its reversible properties, which make it like owning two bags.
Inside, some more of my current favorites, including a new Madewell crossbody that just released today…
1 | This J.Crew crossbody is pretty much the perfect size for day-to-day and I love the contrasting tassel attached to it. The ‘soft blossom’ is my favorite color.
2 | The Rider Bag (now $150) makes it so easy to find your stuff inside thanks to pockets and pouches, comes in a beautiful deep burgundy and is an extra 50% off right now! (Code: SHOPSALE)
3| This tiny tote is an elegant color combo and smaller than a usual tote, making it the ideal bag for those days when you have too much for a crossbody, but don’t want to carry something huge.
4 | For nights out, the Double Pocket Wristlet ($28) is pretty much perfection…
5 | …though the Twin City Vegan Crossbody ($30) is also great! Love the double zipper.
6 | Sturdy, cute, and in classic black, I love the Ryann Crossbody Bag (now $47)! It starts out stiff but softens up as you wear it.
7 | Every lady should have an Envelope Clutch (now $104) in their closet.
8 | This tote has a beautiful suede-like feel and a cool alligator-like pattern on the outside.
9 | I like that this crossbody has just the right amount of tassel and fringe for under $50.
10 | Madewell just released a super cute new crossbody today. It also comes in a beautiful marigold ‘curry’ and a yummy suede pink, but neither of those product pages is working quite yet.
What bags do you love to wear with your outfits?
I usually carry a tote unless I'm going somewhere really dressy. They are comfortable to carry, easy to access, and hold tons of stuff. I've got them in a variety of colors, materials and sizes. I own one “proper” bag in black (which is vintage) and somehow have managed to accumulate a ton of clutches and evening bags even though I almost never have an occasion to use them. People keep giving them to me.
Here are a couple of my favorites: I have this in black. It's not a tote by definition, but it carries like one. It's lightweight and there's a bit of sparkle in the cream thread. https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/dauphine-hobo-…
This is monstrous and the top flap won't stay put but it's cool and I love it: https://www.freepeople.com/shop/canyonland-tote/

Oooh I love the FP bag!
I want that FP bag. Thanks for the heads up Anthropolitan ????
I am a bag lady, but never high, high end ones. I tend to love Fossil and have kept a satchel for years. Every time I go into the Fossil store, they talk about how awesome of a piece it is.
I bought a Liebeskind purse at Final Cut last winter and wear that regularly. For work I use a Margot Leather bag that zips. It's all leather and perfect for a laptop or ipad, portfolio, and planner.
I loved this at Anthro last year and got a black one last month for my birthday. It's a great size: https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/koko-satchel?c…

I have a few super high end bags (a Celine, a Chloe, and a Chanel) and I love them, but for bags I know I'm going to beat up Fossil is an awesome choice!
Agree. I used to have some higher end bags (Bal,Chloe,Bottega) but have since sold. My lifestyle changed and now I just go for mostly cross body..mid range or less due to use. I love Annabel Ingall..I have some old school Rebecca Minkoff bags they don't make anymore but I love and use like crazy. I'm liking the Madewell Crossbody you listed…I might have to check that out!
I love the blouse in the first picture but couldn't find it on the free people site. Anyone know what it is? Thanks!

I think it's at least a year old now, I can hunt tonight after work if no one has the answer before then. No promises I can come up with it but I will try my best!
Oh no worries – please don't spend time on it!
This is my everyday tote bag. I love it!

Cute!

Funny story, I did a quick Google Image Search of it to see if the product came up, but instead Google showed me other photos and said “Our guess for the closest result: veganism.” LOL!!
hahahaha 🙂
I like the new Madewell Crossbody!
I'm a huge fan of their leather goods and currently using the Kensington which is actually what led me to brand in the first place. At the time, I was about to spend a small fortune on a YSL but saw the Kensington in the window, and was blown away by the likeness and quality. I haven't really gravitated towards luxe bags ever since.

Ha! It is true that knockoffs are ever more prevalent…
I have been admiring the madewell crossbody transport satchel for a couple of weeks now. Finally got to a store to try it on and I'm even more in love. Perfect size for a mama to carry stuff for her kids but way cooler looking than a diaper bag. I've been using my longchamps pliage for the past year and it's pretty disgusting and beat up now…..might have to treat myself! I love the English saddle color for the transport satchel. So classic!

I own the Transport Crossbody Satchel and loooove it!!
Roxy, what color do you have? I was reading the reviews and it seems mixed on whether or not the color may transfer on to clothing….what's your experience?
Author
I have the English Saddle and the Boulder, and have never had issues with either transferring. However I could easily see it happening with that Dark Cabernet color!
I've always loved the Cabernet color…haven't purchased though. 🙂
Thank you!
Nam!!!!!
My package came today with the Isabella bag in it. The body of the bag is absolutely stunning, but the strap is a total disappointment – bad enough that I'm probably going to have to return it. It's nothing more than a sting of lightweight cord, and it's way too long. I really wish I knew how to put a better strap on it because I really love the bag and it's big enough to fit all my stuff. But I can't see that cord being used for long without breaking. 🙁
What a bummer :(:(:(
Thanks Anthropolitan for letting me know. I loved that bag too??I'm glad u let me know. I'm gonna skip it too. Without strong strap i will always be worried of loosing rest of my bag?? I've 5 year old and my handbag is always full with his items along with mine he he he
I love the FP bag u mentioned above. Thanks again
How about taking it to a Cobbler? Or a leather crafts store, like Tandy Leather? Maybe they can swap it out for you.
Nice idea LobbyLibby but why to buy an item when ur not sure of the quality ??I'm sure I will find something else Anthro is carrying right now.
