I don't know. Certainly a lot of investor eyes are on Anthropologie right now as its been doing heavy markdowns that are dragging down parent company Urban Outfitters' overall results. However, the sale rooms in my stores have all been packed full so if they expect to move merchandise I think a deeper discount is in order.
The home office is very mysterious and I would not be surprised to see a bigger % off, but I don't expect it either.
Are there really things people want to buy at 50% off, but not at 40% off? Doesn't seem like that big of a difference to me. In any case, I don't understand what Anthropologie has against the old markdown cycle of first cuts followed by second and third, instead of this revolving door of extra % off promos.
I stopped by an anthro in nyc yesterday and practically the entire floor was dedicated to sale items! I dont see how anthro will sell items unless there are steeper cuts AND the 50% off. I went around 1pm which should be busy but there were less than 10 customers in the whole store..and this is nyc!
I feel like something will come tmrw ..im guessing free ship and 50% off but I cant understand anthro sometimes. Sale rooms have become sale floors!
Could it be Christmas decor 50% off? That is the current promo running in the stores I visited. I don't have any inside knowledge. Just guessing. 🙂

Yes it feels like I'm shopping at the Gap now where I expect an extra % off or I won't shop what's on sale. It's too bad. In my opinion a lot of this stuff that's now on sale should've went on sale well before Christmas to accommodate gift giving. Now I don't have the budget to shop or I'm shopped out.
I thought about that too Kelly! I think Anthro would fair a lot better if they invested in a top notch inventory system. There is way more product available in stores than what the website shows and this would help to move inventory a lot faster than another cut on undesirable merch.
Nonetheless, I do foresee them increasing the % off sale promotion, as the 14 day adjustment period from when the sale started is about to end.

I agree, the Tag Sale has always been pretty big in terms of number of racks but I feel like the entire downstairs of Rockefeller Center for instance is all sale! Kind of mind-blowing.
My stores are almost all sale too – even before Christmas sale was about 50% of the store.

I was really hoping that the Embroidered Velvet Bomber and the Beaded Foret Dress would have made the sale. I got both of them as after Christmas returns for full price. If they don't go on sale, and I cannot receive a price adjustment, I may need to return one or both. Hard to justify, otherwise. It seems that both of them, now that New Year's Eve is over, would be moved on out for spring arrivals.

Yes indeed the curtains really help complete the look so now we're looking for a new comforter/set, always something right? lol! As for the new tops, I just love ruffles so some of the off the shoulder tops look okay but they aren't really something I'm looking for right now as it's way too cold outside and we're expecting even more rain this weekend. I miss figure hugging halter styles for Spring and Summer so hopefully I can find something like that in the future when it's much warmer outside otherwise I'll be wearing my vintage Anthro tops from my closet. I was just checking eBay out and the difference between five years ago and now is just incredibly amazing. When I saw the Painterly Buttondown blouse this morning in the New Arrivals section I thought, “what in the world is this?” lol!! What a joke. Just get a basic blouse and splatter paint on it yourself haha! Not the best start for the new year as far as clothing goes hehe, yikes.
I'm hoping the new store will grow on me, it's really nice and new but that intimate feeling isn't quite there like it used to be. I have no need for a bridal section but it's got the most gorgeous gowns available in that section and the Terrain part is pretty but I don't need anything there either. Some of it seems a bit unnecessary for me personally but other people may appreciate and need what's being offered so I suppose there's a little something for everyone. I've yet to eat lunch or dinner at the café/restaurant so hopefully, I can get the chance to try that out, something to look forward to at any rate:)

That's why Anthro has no other option to give huge % off as no one wanna spend their money on shapeless crowd friendly ( ha ha ha since it's not as unique as it used to be) clothes??They don't even read the blogs everyone is telling again and again. I had 7 cancellations so far since the sale started.
Tried to order the Vinnie Collared Duster, which is showing available in nearly all sizes, but it kept getting rejected as I tried to check out. I called and the CS said it's sold out in all sizes.
She also said they'd gotten an internal message that there's a glitch that's allowing people to add sold out items to their basket and check them out. They then receive a cancellation notice e-mail. As is the case with many people above.
So they have two glitches: inventory not showing sold out on the site or in the cart, but the order is rejected before the purchase goes through AND inventory not showing sold out and actually being accepted through the purchase process, then later rejected. Both scenarios very frustrating for customers. I also feel for the CS reps having to field calls from bewildered and annoyed customers…

that just happened to me too – when I got to the place order page, it said the item was out of stock on two different things so I gave up.
I can't access my orders past the first page either….but can with the app–so thank goodness! Missing the option where you could also enter the order number to check on a past order…..can't find that anymore.
