These are a few of my favorite over-the-knee boots…

When you’re tall, sometimes over-the-knee actually means “grazes across the knee.”

Visiting Colorado in Fall, I knew I’d be inspired by the chilly weather (well, sometimes chilly, with periods of summerlike heat in there too!) to start taking a serious look at my Fall wardrobe. And this year, that means taking a look at over-the-knee boots!

As this style of boot has taken hold in the collective consciousness, there are ever more options being offered at a range of prices, and better yet for me, calf-widths! Styles like the Hinge ‘Canton’ Over the Knee Boot ($150, above in black leather) are a great price and come in lots of colors and either leather or suede.

Inside, some of my favorite new styles for this year, and where to find good options for calves ranging from narrow to not-so-narrow…

You can’t go wrong with Stuart Weitzman, especially if you have narrow calves.

One of my favorite new details for this year is a little tie at the top of over-the-knee boot shafts. Plenty of brands have taken on this trend. The key to a good fit is finding a shaft that’s about as wide as your thigh, or else the top will slide down. With this particular shoe, slouchy is not the way to go!

My favorite execution has to be by Stuart Weitzman, who uses sturdy leathers and suedes in flattering silhouettes. But at $800+, it’s a splurge to be sure. Luckily there are plenty of other brands trying this trend.

For flat suede boots with tie details on the shaft, I like the Sam Edelman Peyton ($120), the Børn ‘Gallinara’ Over the Knee Boot ($245), the Vince Camuto Crisintha Over the Knee Boot ($179) and for customized widths Ted & Muffy’s Fuller ($475).

Looking for heeled boots with the tie details? I found cute options in both leather and suede, like the Dr. Scholl’s Original Collection Lydia Over the Knee Boot ($198), the Marc Fisher ‘Alinda’ ($230) and the Circus by Sam Edelman Jasmine ($85).

Vince Camuto offers some of the prettiest over-the-knee wedge boots for the season.

I love wedge boots — they’re comfortable, they give you that additional height, but you don’t topple over in them! The Vince Camuto ‘Granta’ Over the Knee Wedge Boot ($230, above) are my favorite pair for fall, but there are lots of beautiful options, from the Pour la Victoire ‘Serra’ Over the Knee Boot ($495) to the Via Spiga ‘Kennedy’ Wedge Over the Knee Boot ($495) to the JustFab Marla ($40) to the Charles By Charles David Eastwood Tall Wedge Boot (now $80) and the Catherine Catherine Malandrino Bartley Faux Fur Lined Over-The-Knee Wedge Boot (now $80), the last of which combines wedge with tie detail at the top of the shaft!

And sometimes, you just need a killer pair of black suede over-the-knee heeled boots,
like the Sam Edelman Bernadette ($300).

Finally, I love me a good pair of black suede over-the-knee heeled boots. Recently I’ve seen many ladies around NYC wearing them with jeans and an off-the-shoulder sweater, though the Treasure & Bond Turtleneck Sweater Dress ($89) seen above is another great option.

Options for these boots include the Charles by Charles David ‘Lyssa’ Over the Knee Boot (now $102), the Pour la Victoire ‘Caterina’ Over the Knee Boot ($595), and the JustFab Khadijah ($45).

What is your favorite kind of over-the-knee boot?
