Last update: February 23, 2016.

Welcome to EA’s Trade Market on Facebook! I know what you’re thinking — I just want to post my items already! But before you do please, please, PLEASE take a few minutes to read through these Group Guidelines. With 3,000+ members things can get messy quickly so these guidelines are here to keep things organized and working like a well-oiled machine. Failure to follow these guidelines will result in getting banned from the group. So take a read and if you have questions PM me on Facebook.

New to Facebook groups? This post has a quick walkthrough of the critical pages in the EA Facebook Group.

This blog also runs Trade Market posts weekly (SELL/TRADE :: BUY).

THE GUIDELINES
Joining the weekly Trade Market posts on Effortless Anthropologie — — this is the Facebook edition of the Trade Market!

Sell, swap or buy your Anthropologie & BHLDN items here!! NO OTHER BRANDS.

BUY & SELL AT YOUR OWN RISK – this is not like ebay.

1. Please post items for sale in the appropriate size photo albums or in text form on the wall. Text posts SHOULD NOT include any links. Do not upload photos via the wall or they will be removed USE SIZE ALBUMS. You can also post swap items this way. If you post an item in the picture albums, please DO NOT post that item in text form on the wall – or else the wall post will be deleted. DO NOT combine your items into one wall post; each item should get its own post. DELETE YOUR PICTURES AND WALL POSTS ONCE ITEM HAS SOLD.

2. DO NOT RE-POST ANYTHING ON THE WALL OR PHOTO ALBUM UNLESS YOUR POST IS OVER 7 DAYS OLD. POSTS AND PICS RE-POSTED BEFORE THE 7 DAYS ARE UP WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE. **This also applies to posting something on the wall and then posting it to the album the next day – and vice versa** Pics and Posts will be deleted without notice. Using the Comments section to bump your posts before 7 days is up is also considered reposting. If your item is “still available” add it to the descrtiption. DO NOT use the comments section to post item info, EDIT THE DESCRIPTION, or your post will be removed. Do not “BUMP TO WALL” via comments section or you post will be deleted!

3. Pricing – You MUST post a price. We do not set your prices nor will we police them. But with that said, prices must be fair. Price gouging and selling an item (esp used) above retail will not be tolerated. There may be circumstances where you need to recoup the cost of a new item plus shipping costs or sales tax. But please, do not ask above retail if an item is well used and worn. Items listed above Anthropologie’s original retail price will be removed. Items listed in this group may not have tax added on top of the price. This group is for private sales only, no business listings are allowed.

4. If you’re looking for a particular item and want to post a “wanted” ad, please post it in the appropriate document under the DOCS section. Please do not create your own document about an item you are looking for, as it “floods” the wall.

5. If you find an item to swap or buy, send a private message to the person displaying the item or post a comment on the item informing them you would like to swap or purchase their item. If the message is set to go to the person’s “OTHER” folder, be sure to leave a comment letting them know they should check their Other messages folder!

**SOMEONE SENT YOU A PRIVATE MESSAGE AND YOU CAN’T FIND IT? CHECK YOUR ‘OTHER MESSAGES’ FOLDER. HERE’s HOW:**
1) Click the message icon on the blue banner at the top of the Facebook page.
2) Right below the Facebook logo, you see the Inbox link in bold, and a grey Other link right next to it. Click the Other text link to get to your Other inbox!

6. When inquiring about an item, ask about the condition, color, size of the item, etc. Remember, it is up to you to determine the quality of the item. Ask what the person would like to swap for it or what their asking price is. SELLER MUST DISCLOSE IF THE ITEM HAS ANY DAMAGE/FLAWS/ETC AND MUST LIST ALL OF IT. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT REMOVAL FROM THE GROUP. DISHONESTY IS NOT TOLERATED.

7. Before conducting a sale or a swap, look at the other persons feedback and read comments written by other swappers. If the person has negative feedback, that may indicate problems with previous transactions. Decide if you want to swap with this person. All transactions are done AT YOUR OWN RISK; you are responsible for any misunderstandings or failed agreements. If someone has no feedback, it is advisable that they send their item out first if you are conducting a trade. Once said item is received, then the person with established feedback can send out their end. Please ask for references if you are unfamiliar with this person.

8. Both parties must agree on the terms of the sale or trade and what will be traded within two days of the original communication. Until this is done, either party has the right to cancel the trade/sale/purchase before funds are exchanged and/or items are mailed out. For items sold, once money is exchanged the sale is “final” unless both parties agree to cancel the transaction.

9. Each party should send out their end of the trade/swap within 1-3 days of the agreement unless otherwise discussed. If there is a delay, inform the other party immediately. Those without any feedback should be prepared to send their item first (especially if the other person has established feedback). Everyone is a newbie once and earns their feedback and trust of other members with time. The Feedback files are located in the FILES tab of the group.

10. Please do your part in protecting yourself. Understand that paying with Email Money Transfer (EMT) is NON SECURE, and you have no way of getting your money back if something were to go wrong. This is also the same as paying as “gift” via Paypal. The most secure way to do a transaction, is to pay as “Goods” with paypal, and CHOOSE SHIPPING WITH TRACKING.

11. This group is not intended for minors… only those who are 18 years and older can join.

12. No random chit-chat or off-topic posts are allowed in the Facebook group. The following types posts are ON-TOPIC: selling an item, wanting an item, asking for a trade of an item, soliciting an item ID. ALL OTHER POSTS ARE OFF-TOPIC AND WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING. For all other discussion please post in the comments on the Effortless Anthropologie blog.

The creators of the group are not responsible or liable for any loss incurred from participation in this group, purchase or trades. BUYERS AND SELLERS PARTICIPATE AT THEIR OWN RISK.

Have fun and enjoy!!! This is a community and we should treat each other with respect.

FAQ

What is “bumping” or What does it mean when I see a comment that says “bump”?
When you first upload your photo into an album it will not show up on the group wall. After 7 days you are allowed to “bump” it to the wall per the Group Guidelines. Bumping is when you leave a comment on your photo, which then makes your photo appear on the group wall.

Someone commented on my photo and now it’s on the wall! But it hasn’t been 7 days yet, will my photo be deleted?
If another member comments on your photo to show their interest in your item or to ask a question that’s totally fine! But if the admins see people abusing this (i.e. having a friend ask a question on all your items to get them on the wall) your photo will be deleted.

I don’t understand, I go to the group wall and I see tons of photos there. Why can’t I post directly to the wall?
The photos you see on the wall have either 1 – been bumped there after 7 days or 2 – are transactions in progress that have comments on them from other group members.

When I upload a photo it always posts directly to the wall. Why is this?
It could be for a variety of reasons. Did you edit the photo to add a description after uploading the photo? This is the most likely culprit.

I can’t see the photo albums!!!
Are you accessing Facebook from your cell phone or tablet via the Facebook app? For some reason Facebook made the inexplicable choice to make photo albums in groups unavailable in their app. So, to upload photos to the EA Trade Market group you must be on your laptop/computer or use the browser version of Facebook on your mobile/tablet, not the app.

Can I post a link in my text post?
No. Text posts should have no links in them — text only! =)

Is the Trade Market open to USA residents only?
Nope, international members are welcome! Just remember to disclose your country on your listings and to include a note that shipping to the buyer will be at cost.

A FEW NO-NOs (again)
– NO PHOTOS ON THE WALL – post them in the proper album
– DON’T BUMP YOUR POSTS until 7 days have passed
– NO WANTED POSTS on the wall
– ABSOLUTELY NO LINKS TO YOUR EBAY LISTINGS (or any other ebay listing)!
– NO BUSINESS LISTINGS OR RESELLERS.
– ABSOLUTELY NO LINKS to any auction or selling websites (i.e. bonanzle, poshmark, etsy, etc)
– PERSONALLY LISTED TRANSACTIONS ONLY.
– NO ‘SURPRISE LOTS’ of randomly chosen items — each item for sale must be specifically detailed
