Styled: Climbing Marigold Cardigan

This post is for Elizabeth who asked for styling options for the Climbing Marigold Cardigan (no longer online).

Love the pattern of this cardigan! When we saw it we all looked at each other and said “jewel tones.” This gives you a wide range of options to play around with under the cardigan. Accessorizing too. Just look for any saturated colors — rich brilliant blues, warm shiny reds, metal tones like bronze as we’ve done above or copper or gold.

We picked a blouse with a deep cowlneck that will trail nicely against the v-neck of the cardigan. Then we played with different depths of the bronze — a darker, almost plum-colored purse and a pair of shoes with a nice sheen to them. The earrings are playful and fun like the cardigan but read well off the subtle jeans. If you don’t want so much bronze swap out the shoes or purse for blue, red, dark purple or black. Don’t do brown with the bronze shirt, it will end up looking muddy.

Kenneth Cole New York Cowl Neck Blouse ($52)
AG Bellini Catwalk (now $100)
Blue Spruce Earrings ($68)
Brunette Satchel ($218)
Moda Spana Quoth (now $70)

For this second outfit we went with a work option. The wrinkled-looking cami is actually very nice in real life and would give a light contrast to the cardigan. The soft pleats in the skirt play off the fluttering bottom of the cardigan, pulling the eye in and creating a column shape on the bottom to make you look tall and lean. We chose a bag with more shape and texture to it and looked for sparkly accessories to keep the fun going in this outfit.

We love that this outfit goes day to night easily. Can we come party with you?

Roxy, I don't know if you ever saw my request for some dressed down options for the Vie en Rose dress? I understand you're very busy, but if you could just let me know if it would be possible to do a post about it, that would be great! Thanks so much for your wonderful blog 🙂

I've also been trying to figure out what to do with the Climbing Marigolds cardigan, so thank you for this. I've already worn green under it and thought it looked good, but I wouldn't have thought of the other things you suggested.

Hi Lauren, I did see your request and you are on my list. I'm on the road at the moment (Philly currently) a lot for work over the next couple of months, so these are coming along a bit slower than I'd like.
