A little late…Anthropologie under the tree

This year my family did a yankee swap, where we each drew names out of a hat and then bought only that person gifts. My fashionable cousin J pulled me and she did quite well! Our price limit was $150 per person.

She got me the View From Above Cardigan ($88), which is too light for winter but will be a great spring transitional piece. I love the detailing around the neckline…it looks like a grapevine or scalloping or maybe lily pads spreading across the sweater. It’s a very pretty, flirty piece.

She also got me the Inland Moor V-Neck ($78 online, $50 on sale in stores) in pink. It’s great for the weekend or hanging around the house and it is very soft to the touch. Nice job J!

But that wasn’t all the Anthro I received. I have been talking about the juxtaposed bracelet pretty much nonestop since I first saw it, and my boy must have gotten the message because he surprised me with it on the last nite of Hanukkah! The piece has sold out online but I blogged about it last month. It’s of an acquired taste to be sure but I absolutely love it. On New Year’s Eve we went to a barn party and I wore it with my dress. The bracelet drew many compliments and my friend’s uncle said it looked like an ‘elegant piece of machinery.’ It does kind of look like reused ball bearings and such.

Did you get any Anthropologie for the holidays? And if you got a giftcard, is there a certain piece you plan to buy with it?

I got a few yellow housewares (butter dish, tea kettle) to match my soon to be yellow kitchen. Oh! And some notecards. No clothes, since my husband knows I'd rather try on items before I buy them.

My husband bought my Christmas presents (with me trying them on) before Christmas (lucky for me too much stuff to mention, though my my favorite are the 7 boot cut jeans – though I should have sized down- they are so soft and the Straight and Narrow blouse). My mother bought me the Rove and Wander Cardigan and my sister bought me the Count the Stars jacket in black. Haven't worn the jacket yet. Oh, I also got a cute summer bag. IT must have been from the fall because it was on sale. We are heading to Disney in MArch and it will hold a lot and look good. Now I want the El Gato slims. They are a bit pricey. Maybe when they go on sale.

I used some Christmas money I received to buy myself the Street to Street dress. I love it! And then on a whim I stopped by on the afternoon of New Year's Eve and picked up a blouse (sleeveless, with chiffony material and pale beige/nude with embroidered leaves)from the sale rack. Hooray. I wore it out on New Year's Eve and I love it too.

Grr, I am bummed the Inland Moor sweater is only on sale in store. I tried the size L on it was a bit snug n the chest so I would need the XL, but am not willing to pay full price and shipping especially when I know it is cheaper in store.i wish my store carried the full size range. They would get even more business from me!Hrm, I went by my local Anthro on the way home from work and they were doing markdowns. I went into get the Inland Moor sweater but it was not on sale at my store, nor was it on the markdown list. Curious that you have seen it on sale, roxie!BTW, I accidentally posted as Jake Boen, AIA, which is my husband. It's really me, jacquelyn, that posted the above comment. Oops!

Hi Jacquelyn, that is odd that the Inland Moor v-neck was not marked down at your store. I saw the aqua one on sale before the holidays. I plan on stopping by Anthro tomorrow and will see if it's still on sale.

Just took a second look at the View from Above cardigan. It is really pretty! I am thinking of ordering it in the lavender. Would you say it runs big, small, true to size?

It's true to size. I wear a medium, I got this in a medium.
